Sadly it's time for the we only got to keep him because they got someone they wanted more crowd to come out

Just out of curiosity, if given the choice which would you pick? Which would be more in-demand across the country if they hit the market at the same time? I’m not advocating for one or the other, just want to see which you would choose based on their collegiate resume. It is possible GJ Kinne wanted the JMU guy more than Chandler. It is also possible that Chandler Morris would rather attend North Texas than SWTSU-SM.

According to (what should be) an unbiased source, Jordan McCloud is the 115th-ranked transfer (just behind Chandler Rogers), while Chandler Morris is ranked #467: https://www.on3.com/transfer-portal/industry/football/2024/?position=qb

That's not to say there aren't coaches who would take Morris over McCloud, there may well be.

Thank you for the well thought out response.

McCloud had grade issues according to people from JMU. This is part of why he ended up at the academic powerhouse Texas State.

There was a reason McCloud was still availible in almost March when he jumped in the portal in December. Confernce POY QB don't just hang around.

Fun Fact about Jordan McCloud. His brother Ray-Ray McCloud has been in the NFL since 2018 but they're only 3 years apart. This grown man (Jordan) will be 25 in November and has been in college since 2018, the same year his brother was drafted. Hopefully one day college sports will mostly be played by college-aged kids again. Seven years in college is too damn much.

Edit to add: since 2018, his brother Ray-Ray has played for 4 different NFL teams (Bills, Panthers, Steelers, 49ers). With Jordan going to Texas State, he will now be on his 4th different FBS team since 2018 (South Florida, Arizona, James Madison, Texas State).

Doesn’t strike me as a pair of men that want to grow where they are planted.

I’ll have none of that nonsense!!!

Chandler Morris was 100% never truly committed to North Texas (though there’s zero evidence to back this up), and was 100% headed to Texas State as a way to secure his father’s commitment as a coach (though there’s zero evidence to back this up), and he 100% only stayed committed to North Texas when Texas State got the guy they wanted all along who had been available  in the portal for three months (though there’s zero evidence to back this up).

A classic police procedural, police chief solo though.
