Coach Bill Michaels

I just heard Coach Bill Michaels passed away Friday. I don't have any details as I just heard. Coach Mike was one of the finest coaches or men to have coached at North Texas. It was a privilege to know him, play for him, and I always looked up to him. He'll be missed by a lot of people.

Where did he live when he passed away? I'm not familiar with this coach. Did he coach at NT?

Coach Michaels coached at North Texas from 1994 through 2000 and retired in Denton. He was still living in Denton to the best of my knowledge.

Sad news. Never heard a bad word uttered about him, not many you can say that about.

He was one of my high school coaches, in Sherman, in the early sixties.  He later became head coach at UTEP. He was an excellent coach and a fine man.  RIP Coach, and thanks for how you turned boys into young men with your tough but positive approach.

I don't know about the services but if anyone knows can you please post it. My phone has been blowing up from former players wanting to know.

It's just Michael; not Michaels.  Bill Michael was the Defensive Coordinator under Matt Simon and stayed the first three years of Dickey's tenure.

All that I could find out was that he died Friday, March 4 in Columbia SC.

He had moved up there to be closer to family when he got sick.  He will certainly be missed.

Worked briefly with Bill...always liked and respected him...sorry to hear of his passing.
