Typically firing both coordinators to save face is not something a coach who is super secure in his position does, can't imagine they did too much research on the G5 coaches for this article. We have a handful of challenging games this year, but the highest paid coach in the conference and one of the highest in all of G5 should not miss a bowl game 2 years in a row without feeling a ton of heat under his seat in my opinion.

You are at least 1 year too early IMO. Recruiting is really up after a slow start. 2021-22 is the year for this team to break out. That will be the season that he is judged on.

No Mark, I don't know him at all, nor his real life self. Zero. None. I don't claim to know. I know what he typed: "Kids need to be in school. I have zero fear of sending mine." He was not talking as a teacher with his two sentences. He was talking as a parent and his lack of fear for his kids. So.. That is what I responded to. If he has no fear for his fellow teachers or administrators - that is wonderful. I am glad he/she will be back in the classroom. </woke>

You'd probably have better luck by contacting the athletic department and explaining your project than by asking on a fan message board. Then again, most of our athletic department can't figure out our school colors, so they may not be able to help.

Maybe I missed it, but I hadn’t seen an official announcement on pod play being discontinued. And we will get UTEP twice. If UTEP’s schedule is an indication, we will probably play Rice, UTEP, UTSA, La Tech, and Southern Miss twice each, then each of the other 8 teams in the conference once each. Would make sense that the conference is looking to cut down on travel as much as possible.

The budgets of most California Universities have been suffering due to many reasons. Covid issues have been the breaking point for many and I am sure more are to come.

Why would school districts run out of money if it is tax payer driven? Why does physical attendance impact tax payments? Maybe I am misunderstanding the comment. It isn't only the students - it is the teacher safety. I know at kids school the teachers are on the upper end near retirement age. They may not make retirement if they are forced to teach in person and get a bad case. I am on the fence with this one - it is definitely tricky. I private school my kids - and they have more flexibility it seems. They are setting up medical task boards from physician parents and hosting seminars with child psychologists. It is a very lucky life - no doubt. However, one of their models they are allowing us to select is a hybrid approach with one week in class, then one week out of that classroom. The off independent week, the teacher will be at home leading instruction, BUT the kids can elect to come into the class and do their hybrid week actually on campus. It allows for parents that cannot work at home or don't feel the need for the home schooling. Seems like a logistic nightmare to me. For my multiple kids, will they all be in class the same week and off at home the same week too? If not, I will be at home with them full time anyhow, just carpooling more. It's insanity. But if we can limit the risk to the kids and faculty - then it is all worth it.

Per an article on ESPN this morning he is requesting a trade from the 49ers. That leaves only 3 running backs on the team. Tevin Coleman, UNTs Jeff Wilson and Jerrick McKinnon who hasn’t played in 2 seasons due to knee injuries. Now I’m sure if they trade they will go after another RB but it is probably more reps for Wilson.

Really sad about Men's Volleyball, as NM Green mentioned, Stanford has been a pillar in men's volleyball for a long time. As a VB player and general fan myself it's really unfortunate to see.

No one dies or is hospitalized for season allergies. You are intentionally being obtuse at this point. People aren’t sneezing and getting the sniffles and then dropping dead. Although COVID can cause heart and kidney issues, the most reasonable barometer of estimated excess deaths would be the pneumonia deaths. Where I am there now about 9000 confirmed COVID cases, but they are now releasing that pneumonia cases over the past couple months are in excess of 3500 and over 30-40 a day are dying from bilateral pneumonia even though many of those have negative tests. But false negatives are common and there are no other flu bugs going around here. The pneumonia cases are 2-3 times the norm. So they are just now starting to treat these as COVID cases and acknowledging their numbers have been off.

The former Huntsville standout arrived in Denton on June 22, and has been working out with the team since. But I thought Stanford was a very wealthy school. It costs tons of money to go there. I believe Google HQ is located in the same city.

It's a rough subject. On one hand, there's no quicker way to spread the virus. On the other, school districts are running out of money and parents are struggling with adding "teacher" to their resume or even being able to be home at all to take care of kids. I don't think kids should go back to school, because it's going to be a catastrophe. However, I'd be lying if I said this is a cut and dry issue.

I can't begin to imagine the logistics of trying to reschedule the three main sports (Football, Men's and Women's basketball) on top of other pro sports (possibly NFL, Hockey, and NBA) for TV and some facilities for the spring.

I’m starting to get really depressed thinking about it.

Coaches were hired before the pandemic so the salaries would not have been out of line at the time...especially for the quality that we are getting. I believe that this coaching staff is a vast improvement over the 2019 staff and will have more wins even with the tougher schedule. They've had more time to get acclimated to the system and the players due to the virus and the players seem pleased with the coaching changes. I'll be terribly disappointed if we're not bowl eligible this coming season.

When SEC schools with their inflow of cash are hurting you can only imagine how G5's and lower division schools are hurting.

I've seen this elsewhere, but seriously, why can't we just call the football games a protest? The scientific and medical experts have told us you can't spread Covid at a protest and actually there are articles out there that say protests actually DECREASE the spread of Covid. The logical thing to do to slow the spread would be to have MORE football games...I mean protests....at Apogee.... Just put all those folks in green and teach them the "NORTH" "TEXAS" chant. Turn the fists into claws....(three fingers or four fingers depending on your generation...I'm assuming that crowd would go with the more modern, three finger eagle claw) With masks, the sound may be a tad muffled but there's virtually zero risk of spreading Covid if the crowd is labeled as a "protest" vs any other crowd. It's all about the label... We could break attendance records this year....
