Honestly, yes. I think the average Alabama fan commits more of their personal resources and time to supporting the team than the average NT fan. I feel like our revenue numbers prove that the commitment just isn’t great. That’s a reflection of administration decisions (dropping to I-AA “lack of commitment to athletics”), general lack of interest from students (“lack of commitment to athletics”), and general lack of financial support from fans (as you even mentioned “lack of commitment to athletics”). He will certainly use his entire scholarship allotment, but it would be smart to concentrate his NIL spending on just the 8-9 players in his rotation. Ole Miss football NIL allocation is also interesting. They are spending all of their money on a couple players at the top of their roster. Not as much money for everyone else. Meanwhile, Texas Tech is guaranteeing something like $25K to every player in every sport, even the walk-ons. Why would you waste $25K on a replacement level player at the bottom of a roster? It will be interesting to see how the different NIL strategies play out. -
