  1. Thanks for the update I was about to drive over there shortly, the worst part of the whole deal is I was looking forward to the wings from the place down the strip center
  2. Reality is folks, we need to be happy for acu, unt, and any other low seed in this tournament that's beating the upper seeds. when there is better chance for those smaller teams to recruit better get to the Sweet 16, at some point selection committee won't be able to put all the low speed teams playing each other and knock each of the low seed teams out. March madness allows for true competition, just like the miracle on ice against the Russians!!! Go Mean Green!! It's sweet 16 time, for the mean green Nation!!!
  3. For the UNT game against Purdue, there was a Houston watching party at the wicked dog brewery, on Barker Cypress I think. The organizer said we would have another watching party for the Nova game. So I'll be there once again. Had a great time, the wing place down the strip center had terrific wings. hopefully there will be a few more UNT fans show up in Houston for that game. Go mean green, I think we're going to be in the sweet 16. Playing my Dad and Uncle's alma mater Baylor.
  4. Nice, I'll be there I just have to Google where it is a little bit of your drive from Westheimer and highway 6. It'll be good to eat some good food and watch the game with some fellow fans!!!
  5. I didn't even read who posted about I'd rather have a four-star recruit other than a quarterback. Oh my freaking God!!! I've been on this board for a very long time. I know there's others who have been on this board longer. For UNT to get a four-star recruit at any position, without having to break NCAA recruiting rules to do it. Is an amazing gift from God himself. I think the fan that posted about I'd rather have a four-star recruit at another position, must have graduated from Alabama in another life. Or the posters just trolling us here at gomeangreen.com I guess by faith and Seth latrell and the staff his been redeemed a bit. Based on UNT's recent record in football. Since my Dad's a graduate of Baylor University. I can tell you our defensive coordinator will probably help us out a lot. Even without four star recruits. Of course, there was a time when Baylor University was the dregs of the Southwest conference. So anything's possible. Thank God for UNT's sake is it concerns our football program!!
  6. Wow, you mean I have to go to other sports to see about UNT women's basketball. No wonder I would only see things about men's basketball and I couldn't figure out why I wasn't saying anything about women's basketball. I do wonder why the board administrators thought it was wise to put women's basketball under other sports? No offense to the board administrator I don't want to make that person mad, but really.
  7. Art Briles, I'd certainly give him a shot. UNT needs to win. I would also take a look at coach Dickey. New athletic director; however, coach Dickey rightfully took 500K from UNT, for the way they fired him when he had diabetes then a heart attack, or heart problem at minimum. I don't know if the board of regents would allow him to be rehired. if you think what's going on at a&m is all Jimbo Fisher then you're sadly mistaken.
  8. Well, I can't see one reason why people wouldn't want liberty in their conference. I certainly know why some people don't want liberty University. But can the same be said for SMU, Baylor ETC. When has money in college football been a negative. Every time I watch UT play, especially against UNT, then NTSU in 1988, we all know or should have known that UT was paying the refs full mortgage IE paying off their houses. With the absolutely ridiculous inbound reception to Keith Cash three yards out of bounds in the end zone at War Memorial stadium. I really don't understand the SMU reference, unless you mean that liberty is paying their players. The governor of Texas at the time was contributing to SMU athletics. I don't want to even get into how the son of one of the Pony Express got the pirate fired at Texas Tech, I digress. But, talent always prevails even if it takes years. The pirate's now that Mississippi State. I bet the pirate hates being in the SEC!!! I certainly don't think Liberty University has to pay their players to come play good football, or participate in other sports. Liberty University just probably provides a great college degree. You might not agree with the degree that the students at that college are going to get. But, once again that's their personal choice and their personal decision. That they believe will benefit their lives. Just because liberty spends a lot of money because they have it, if spent the right way doesn't mean that won't buy you quality, professional services. So their athletic department is loaded. That buys good facilities, good coaching, and they can go out and recruit. Then put a quality product on the field. The way UNT looks this year you'd really have to be drinking green Kool-Aid not to think that Liberty is way better than UNT. Regardless of how young their program is. From a business standpoint C-USA should offer liberty tomorrow. I think C-USA would be lucky to get Liberty University.
  9. Maybe littrell should bring in Billy Bean and let him teach the team what losing should feel like and look like.
  10. I know the situation isn't this bad; however, I once attended a UNT Rice game and the score ended up being about 100 or 80 Rice, UNT 20. I sat in the press box where all the big alums for Rice watch the game. My friends granddad was the rice team doctor back in the day. The buffet was the best part of that miserable experience. I had the good sense to stop streaming the radio broadcast at about 27 to 7 around the end of the second half. I've been through this so many times over the years I can't tell you. Tonight I refused to be a masochist like I have been in the past and listen to the game to the bitter end. Based on the upgrade in UNT recruiting talent, facilities etc, and athletic department finances. I don't get it. I guess our staff isn't paying attention to the transfer portal or something. We must be getting out coached like nobody's business. or maybe there's something in the water in Denton. People used to just massacre coach Dickie for the job he did as a coach at UNT. He did more with less financially, talent wise, and facilities than almost any other coach and staff in memory. Except for maybe Hayden Fry or Corky Nelson. Maybe Seth Littrell and staff should try a little bit of stealth recruiting like Dicky did. Then the board crucified Dickie for it. Maybe the kids from smaller high schools in Texas that Dickie recruited had more heart or something along with the talent they brought to the table.
  11. I can't say this for sure, but I would think some of those teams that took quarterbacks in the late rounds, took them because they could run. Most of those quarterbacks taken certainly couldn't pass like Mason fine. I don't think you're going to find Mason fine on special teams. I think a few of those late round quarterback picks, might make their respective teams based on special teams play and not becoming an NFL quarterback. If they do become NFL quarterbacks, that certainly won't be the coaching staff's first thought regarding their utilization.
  12. Cody Spencer is correct. I can't remember what round but I think he was drafted by the Oakland raiders, I believe around 2004 to 2006..
  13. I know this isn't Basketball Related. Important Covid-19 Grant Info. that most people don't know about via SBA.GOV. Everyone is hearing about SBA.GOV Small Business Payroll loan assistance. 15. As Echoed by others, our thoughts and prayers go out to your family along with your cousin's family as well. To most Covid 19 resembles the flu in many ways, so great majority of infected patients will recover. To the old, folks with Diabetes, lung, heart or other issues it's very serious. The world lost the world's number 1 conjoined twin surgeon to Covid-19 yesterday. The doctor was 73 Yrs. old.
  16. Point taken, you and I are going to be negatively affected or unless were independently wealthy. And then he even then to a certain extent. this shouldn't going to last long enough to affect student attendance. IE student fees or anything else like that. Based on the heat in Texas the virus cannot survive here to any great extent. Very long, I can't believe I'm praying for heat to the extent that I am now based on summer weather. No matter what the press tells you.
  17. Grad Green...UNT won't be de-funded. Covid-19 will pass. If UNT were private small college, not the 3th or 4th largest university in TX then your above point would be very valid!!! However, UNT had huge accounting scandal several yrs. ago. It's like state legislator didn't even skipped a beat. No employment or students affected to my knowledge. Further, UNT stayed in the "Arms Race" to become a tier 1 University for endowment and Fed., and State Grant purposes to fund UNT system. I don't see the State of TX or the Fed's for that matter pulling any funding away from school like UNT. Especially since the Fed's just pumped 2.2 Trillion dollars in national relief to everyone. At least hopefully a lot of the 2.2 Trillion Dollars will go directly to all the "squirrel's looking for a nut" (me and my family) instead of government bureaucracies. Don't get me wrong out of the 2.2T the bureaucracies will get plenty of money too. The US national debt over all this and the long term affect to US economy and our children, and grand children is a completely different conversation. I can't have that discussion here because Harry or someone else would delete my post.
  18. Wow, I'm old now. It's amazing to hear you youngsters talk about Plano football being bad. Like it's always been that way. Up until 1982, I'm a 1981 graduate at Plano. There was only one high school in Plano. Some of you youngsters I can't believe I'm saying this. Need to go back and Google, or at least look at some old newspapers. Plano has a history of being one of the most unbelievably historic high school teams in the state of Texas. If you youngsters also do some research you'll realize that many Plano high School football players during those times, were pro bowl players, or better in the NFL. Plano State high School football has certainly not always been bad. There was a time when Plano was the only School or one of the very few but I believe the only School. In Texas high School history to win, I believe 1A, for the record may have started at 2A, then winning 3A, 4A, and 5A state championships. When all this took place nobody had ever heard of 6A. Friday night lights was patterned or made after Odessa Permian high School football in Texas. During those years Plano high School was on par and always in the same discussion as far as high school powerhouse football programs in the great state of Texas. God I'm old, I used to live in Plano when 544. If they even call it that anymore. Was a two-lane blacktop with wheat fields on both sides of the road. McKinney was 8 Miles away, me and my friends used to walk the two-lane blacktop surrounded by wheat fields once again to get there. Maybe it was Alenn not McKinney that was 8 Miles away. Plano high School football, took a historic hit once the new high school which opened in 1982, I believe on the east side of town. I haven't lived in Plano since high school, so if my memory serves that would be PESH. God, this freaking post or topic like no other has made me realize how truly old I am. Don't get me wrong there are many others that have been around this board for much longer than I have. I salute them all. FYI...when I was a Jr./Sn. at Plano High School the band director Mr. Fork knew Doc Severinsen personally (Doc's 92 now). For those to young to know Doc Severinsen was a part of Johnny Carson Tonight Show band. In those days 3 networks no cable. Entire county watched the Tonight Show every night. Since Mr. Fork knew Severinsen the PHS band I played in put on a concert in Plano, TX. with Doc Severinsen both yrs. I attended PHS. Wow, Doc Severinsen is like the Tom Brady, Drew Brees of Trumpet players in the World at the time. The concerts were recorded on Vinyl. I still have the records!! The band knew what an honor this really was. Looking back we really didn't have any idea how amazingly special that time in our lives and concert really was. One of my graduating classmates became Playboy's Playmate of the Month, or Year, I believe year. Pretty controversial, or risque for the times. Plano was once feature on cover of Time Magazine as "Suicide Capital of the US". This topic has revived lot's of memories!!! Wow. That seldom happens for me when I reading the board!!!
  19. Wow...I can't believe folks on this board are really saying don't pay our coach a bonus for what might have been reasonable possible if C-USA and NCAA tournaments hadn't been cancelled. Like it or not UNT should have been considered and was considered the favorite to win conference tournament and receive NCAA auto bid!!! If UNT doesn't pay the bonus or some equivalent in a renegotiated contract. Which I'm sure is is in the works. I've just been away from the board dealing with more important issue affecting my family due to Covid-19. Many, maybe not all who are saying don't pay bonus would be critical of our AD if coach McCasland left UNT for a more high profile coaching position. Insert school name here:_______. It's going to be hard enough to keep coach McCasland at UNT maybe now or in the very near future. Let's be realistic if you're coach McCasland and I'm at a school in a single bid league like C-USA, that's reason enough to move on. If my college AD and UNT president, or BOD's don't pay me the paltry amount of $25,000.00 after I've resurrected there team from the dead, and I mean DEAD!!! UNT's basketball program after 3yrs., then I'm out!!! That would be like a poke in the eye with the sharpest knife made by man kind. I wonder if the poster(s) advocating not paying NCAA contractual bonus are secretly fans of another University trolling this board hoping there university can poach a great coach away from UNT. Let the Mean Green Nation be the Judge. Seems like a "no Brainer". Much more logical conclusion and if that's not the case, more realistic from a business view point. Oh, I forgot those advocating the non payment of bonus could be from academia, then there position might make since, NOT!!! Yes, I'm being very critical of those taking the position of denying coach McCasland UNT's contraction obligation to pay a $25,000.00 NCAA bid bonus. I full well expect to be criticized for my opinion also. But, I'm a big boy, and I'm older than I used to be and much wiser, so I can take the criticism.
  20. By the way, no offense to clowns, the funny kind. Not the stupid ones.
  21. Who in the heck do you think's influencing the advisory board. The media!!! Once again I'm going to have to hold my tongue, so I don't say anything to offend somebody. The media is taking a megaphone into a crowded theater and yelling fire. In one sense, to a great degree. And somehow that seems to be okay. however, if I was in a high risk factor group don't you think I might be smart enough to take certain precautions. As if I don't have a brain. But to a certain extent big brother, figuratively speaking is thinking for me. Like I'm some sort of stupid clown.
  22. I live in Houston, and to a certain extent, every time there's a hurricane that rolls through of any size. You would think I would have to search for Noah's ark. During Harvey, which was bad no doubt about it, the city of Houston and Corps of engineer's purposely flooded many neighborhoods because they let water out of 2 dams on large bayou here. All because they didn't want all that water to flood downtown Houston. So let's guess how many families are left holding the bag.
  23. My daughter is a senior in high school, some students were to take a trip to New York. At the last minute after all the parents paid a load of money to have their kids take this trip. Covit 19 strikes and no trip. This means there's been 18 strains of covit before this one. No Mass hysteria about any of those strains. At least most folks traveling to Frisco might be out a few dollars for some tickets and maybe hotel deposit. I wish I was only out a few bucks, which I don't know that I'll ever see again. So, it could be much worse. I can't comment any more about the situation because then you'll really know how I feel. Yes, I do understand that in certain circumstances there are real health concerns that I can certainly appreciate. But again I better keep my mouth shut so I don't post anything that can be held against me in the future.
  24. I came across the Auburn vs Kentucky game today. Wow, If we have to play Auburn we better be ready for those guys. I think there are a number three seed or four seed projected for a reason. I'm not saying we can't win, but we'll have our work cut out for us.
  25. I just googled UNT learfield on TuneIn. I will show the link clicked on it, my TuneIn app woke up and play the game. It was real disappointing that we lost by one point, but an exciting close game.
