Here is the third annual Grid of Shame according to the Wall Street Journal.

Our "weakling" comnection is easily understood but hopefully corrested this season, but I would guess the embarassed ranking is a result of a large percentage of our athletic budget coming from student fees.

Honestly, we are exactly where we should be when you put together everything that the WSJ used for their graph. Our record in the last 8 years is 19-64. The 19 wins are over these powerhouses: MUTS (2), ULL (2), ULM (2), FIU (1), FAU (3), Texas Southern (1), South Alabama (1), WKU (3), Troy (1), Ball State (1), Indiana (1), and SMU (1--with Phil Bennett as head coach). That is embarrasing and weak...

The shame component is based on APR - we are strong, recent history of major violations - we are strong, percent of budget subsidized by students - we are fairly weak, and player arrests - what have we had one this offseason and two last offseason? - probably average or slightly above average. We must really bring it home in the ick factor. Look where TCU ranks in that portion. They just had a freaking drug ring uncovered in their football program...and a QB get a DUI....
