I'd love for anyone going to ask a few questions.

The biggest being around the QB position.

What has he seen out of Berglund, what does he bring to the table?

How have Terrell and Peagram looked?

What positions does he see as areas of need in this recruiting class?

The "Facebook Time With Poppy" is the highlight of the evening, second only to Mac playing "Name that Tune" with Poppy. It really shows just how serious we are here at UNT about football.

Why was last year's record better? "Ah well you know the thing about a great University like this one is that there is a lot of potential here, I mean are you kidding me? 30K students? At Florida, we used to drink Grey Goose while recruiting guys that would go on to play at WKU and pick off passes and score."

Will Derek really address the fans? "For now he will be addressing the fans until Brock is eligible. Then Brock'll be addressing the fans"

What will happen if UTSA beats us next year? "Won't be nothing a little Grey Goose can't fix"

What was your win/loss prediction for the year? "Why not North Texas?"

How are you really doing at recruiting? "Coach Urban and I really got some great guys that can contribute to the football team on Saturdays to the Swamp"

What was meant when you brought up your involvement in recruiting that WKU kid to Florida? "I meant that when you're really thinking about it, I recruited that kid so it was kind of like I beat myself, which at the very least should be counted as 3.5 points for either team."

Will spring football answer a lot of questions? "Yes, in fact I can answer one of those right now: I am not looking for another pair of sunglasses. These right here are pretty sweet. I bought them while I was at Florida and winning titles and recruiting quality guys that went on to WKU, but I just didn't get around to bringing them here until now."

Are we stepping into the Brock Berglund era? "Why not Brock Burglund?"

Are interlocked NTs on helmets sweet to you? "Coach Fry did a lot for this program and I certainly learned a lot from him. I don't eat sweets though."

How much do we have to do heading I to CUSA? "There's certainly a lot to do here at North Texas, such a great University. Are you kidding me? 30K students. Beautiful stadium. We get recruits in here and they are blown away by that beautiful stadium. Not like at Florida though."

How are you doing vs advertised? "I don't know who this Advertised person is"

Was the loss Saturday your fault? "We beat FSU, what do you mean?"

Did you drink beer or Grey Goose following the loss? "Honestly, I drank a little Tequila"

Man..last show of the year. I have made every one, but am still in San Diego and will miss this one...bummer! It should be a good one....tell all the other regulars hello for me. Wish I could be there.

      Why the NCAA model is dying and will be replaced

      You can rebuild a college basketball rotation to contend at a high level in one year. That is just 8-9 players. And if you get lucky with 2-3 absolute monsters, you can make a run in any given season. Of course, then those 2-3 monsters will get poached by deeper pockets and you will have to start all over again. But still, it is possible. But we can’t rebuild a college football two-deep in one year. That’s almost 50 players that we need to compete at a high level. And as has been demonstrated, any time we get football players who have any kind of success in the NIL era, they are gone quicker than you can say “Chandler Rogers”. Another reason it is easier for us to compete in the NIL era in basketball is because that sport is dominated by guards. There are LOTS of talented guards available in college basketball and some of the very best can fall through the cracks and land with us for atleast a season. And while many people would say that college football is dominated by quarterbacks (and that position is VERY important)… what really separates the elite college football programs from everyone else are the defensive linemen. The supply of 18-24 year-old humans who weigh 300 pounds with the strength to take on multiple blockers while also having the speed to run down a quarterback is no where near the demand. And these defensive linemen usually take a while to develop. But anytime a defensive linemen shows a hint of promise, he gets funneled to the highest bidder and that won’t be us. Which means we will never be able to compete with the SEC or Big 10 in football.

      Why the NCAA model is dying and will be replaced

      The problem is that boosters will always pay to get players and the Supreme Court made that legal. This will never go away. I truly believe that universities will own their team and play in leagues that features paid players, players that don’t even go to school. They’re employees. Texas could sign Vince Young to be their QB for 7 years to keep him. Same with the Aggies with Manziel. You get the idea. They’ll have coaches and GMs and be able to trade players, sign players to extensions, and develop players in minor league setups. The rest of us are the ones that have the chance to actually play amateur college sports. Players are students who play for scholarships and stipends, all of which is governed by a NCAA type entity. And I believe that there will be a market for this level of play. I believe that watching traditional college sports will get eyeballs. Even if the Power 40 play their own semi-pro league.
