Sammy Sosa No Longer Black

Recommended Posts

I'm still mad at the rangers for trading him away before he ever had any major playing time here, for a bunch of guys that nobody ever heard about afterwards. I didn't even know what color he was, because I mostly watched the Rangers on the radio.

Didnt we get Sierra out of that deal?

July 29, 1989: Traded by the Texas Rangers with Wilson Alvarez and Scott Fletcher to the Chicago White Sox for Harold Baines and Fred Manrique.

So not the best trade, especially considering Harold Baines did make two more all star games after the trade - too bad they weren't with the Rangers. Harold Baines was traded during the 1990 season (basically playing for the Rangers for 1 year) for Joe Bitker and Scott Chiamparino. So basically Sosa and a decent pitcher turned into Jot Bitker and Scott Chiamparino...
