The Japanese "water Cure" Was To "waterboarding"..

Recommended Posts

Are all you right-wing chest-thumping conservatives calling Richard Nixon weak? :o

Well he did play football for a DIII school whose mascot is the Poets. They went 1-8 last year against DIII competition, so they might actually be worse than UNT. OK, let's be honest, the Vegas line would be a pick 'em. Pretty weak, if you ask me.

Actually, Rick promotes spirit, and the other thing is my job. B)

Yes, the Japanese committed some very inhuman acts on Americans....and anyone else that they came into contact with whilst making war. They were brought to trial and hanged.....as they should have been. Even though they thought that the aforementioned inhuman acts were justified to PROTECT THEIR COUNTRY AND WAY OF LIFE.

Amongst most liberals (and many centrists) Richard Nixon is one of the most disliked Presidents of our modern era. Yet this conservative President saw the value of diplomacy, and as a result, he opened diplomatic relations with(gasp) communist China. This was during a time when we were at our full potential at arms making, and troop strength. We were clearly technologically superior to China in Arms making and could have wiped them off the earth if that was our decision. Yet, our CONSERVATIVE (and sadly, very paranoid) President made diplomatic overtures to China, and basically made nice with them. Are all you right-wing chest-thumping conservatives calling Richard Nixon weak? :o

I'd say he's following the old rule: keep your friends close, keep your enemies in your pocket. Better to keep control of what your enemies do, and better to do it in a way that your enemy does what you want them to do because they want to do it because they think they like you. Or uh, "better to sharpen the blade under the table than in battle".

NIXON NOW!!!!! In fact, I still have an old campaign button that says that. I like to wear it around some of my wife's more "liberal" friends. Always makes for some interesting conversation. Most "younger" folks only know Nixon through Watergate (ugh, what a mess that was), but as SilverEagle so rightly pioints out, Nixon did some very good things internationally. In fact, he probably is one of the better presidents we have had when it comes to international affairs/policy (and I do not mean the Edwards or Clinton kind of affairs). Domestic policy, well, maybe not so much............

Also...anyone who thinks FirefighterRick acts like a "jackass" in the stands is simply and totally out in "left field" and should be dismissed promptly. Of all the things to say. Good grief!

Just saying!

Nah, I don't tend to agree with what FFR says here, but what he says or does can't be any worse than what many of us have yelled from the stands.

Nixon was a moderate at best. Somewhere right of Ford, but way left of Reagan.

First of all, we could use some jackasses in the stands. At least they make noise! Rick acts like a real fan! Not like the "tennis-applause-everyone-sit-down-and-be-quiet-between-plays" fans that have shown up in sections E and D for decades. Years ago, when we first started sitting in the "alumni" section, my wife wondered out loud if most of the people that showed up in section "E" got lost on their way to a funeral. I guess they were just hold overs from the good ol' days of Dr's Bruce and Matthews.

As far as I'm concerned if you aren't a loud and obnoxious fan at a football game, you aren't doing it right. ;)

So his going to China was a...bad thing?

I really wasn't commenting on that. I was commenting primarily on the tired use of Nixon as the archetypal conservative: i.e., "This is how conservatives think, because that was how Nixon thought"; "This is what conservatives do, because that is what Nixon did." He wasn't even.

Waterboarding is torture.

Would Jesus waterboard?

Could Sean Hannity survive one waterboarding? If so then I would love to do it 182 more times to him.

2001 was a long time ago. And guess what it will happen again. But only if we waterboard and invade countries, and establish military installations on every continent.

See the pattern.....why do we want to be attacked? Why ?

And why are the evil-doers (Bush, Cheney, Halliburton, Exxon, BP) going out of office?

It is time to see that religion and country are not one, that hate is not part of our constitution, and that N Korea has no nuclear capabilities whatsoever!

By the way...Obama is slashing taxes on anyone making less than $125,000.

if you want Paris Hilton to keep more $ than go stay at a Hilton.

And how was your tea-bagging party....pretty f****** stupid huh! you repubs look like total dumb**** these days. And by the way you can keep Arlan Specter. But we will take his vote while he is in office.

By the way the Fire Departments are a form of Socialism!!!!!!

Would Jesus poke a hole in the skull of a new born child, stick a tube into the childs head and suck their brains out?

I dunno, we can't ask Pharoah and all the other Egyptians how God killed their children, including newborns, on passover. Life can't be that sacred.

dont worry oldguystudent because it is my 110% belief that everyone, since time, will have a little sit down session with God and you can ask Him yourself when it is "your" turn.

Now......how about a paul harvey for the rest of the story: pharoah could have avoided all this and the other plagues by letting the Hebrews depart Egypt the "first time" he was asked by Moses.

If that day comes, I'm sure it'll be quite an interesting conversation that will probably have a much different course and outcome than any of our human minds can possibly comprehend no matter how holy we hold ourselves to be.

Point of passover that I'm trying to make is that whether or not Pharaoh could have avoided the carnage, the old testament God simply didn't hold life to be all that sacred. Many innocent lives were taken in the old testament by the direct hand of God.

Just remember kids. Friends don't let friends judge lest they be judged. And let's see if I can predict the next response..."Why? You worried?" Umm. Nope. I'm actually all for there being a God. I just hope he's not the judgmental, exclusive, contradictory, wrathful, egotistical God that gets shoved down my throat so much in this wonderful place called Texas.

Are American's God's 'new people'? I sense that many that post here truly feel that way.

Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

John 3:3 "No one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."

John 14:6 "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

Romans 10:9-11 "if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trust in Him will never be put to shame."

God's people are all over the world. Come join us. The truth will set you free.

Yes. But more importantly, there is only one true brand of Christianity that are God's people. Even more importantly than that, look at me God! I'm defending your honor! See how faithful I am? Extra brownie points for me God! It's all about Your glory God, except when it's about Mine!

Well, according to Scripture God wishes no one to perish but it seems He made it pretty clear how one can have eternal life. Now if this is all true, and I believe it is, then it is the only way to a place called heaven and you can see why it would be extremely important to tell as many people as we can? And Satan, the Great Deceiver is doing everything he can to keep people from hearing the truth.
