NO --- we have always won one or more games.

These are the worse ones according to College data Warehouse:

1927 1-6-2 John Reid (nine games)

1960 2-6-1 Odis Mitchell (nine games)

1964 2-7-1 Odis Mitchell

1972 1-10-0 Rusk, final year (defeated Cincinnati)

1980 2-9-0 Tyler only year

1981 2-9-0 Corky Nelson's first

1984 2-9-0 Corky Nelson

1995 2-9-0 M.Simon

1999 2-9-0 D.Dickey

2005 2-9-0 D.Dickey

2007 2-9-0 Dodge

2008 0-5-0 Dodge..... in progress

http://www.cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/div_i...arly_totals.php

---Only twice in 95 years have we allowed 400 points or more.

1995 --- 424 -- Simon

2007 --- 541 -- Dodge

We are on pace to allow 600+ this year. .......Ouch....

Damn...... I am sorry to say that I have been around for all but the 1927 season on that list. I was a student during the 1960 and 1964 seasons then bought our first season tickets just in time for the 1972 season. What great timing. It is interesting to note that based on the information that was posted, the most games we have lost over a two year period is 18. Anyone want to make a wager on us being better/worse than that at the end of the 2007-2008 period?

1913

one game season, lost to TCU 0-13

If you are talking about the modern era where we played at least 9 games, then no we've never had a no-win season.

As stated above, the worst record in our modern era was Rod Rust's 1-10 season, which ended in a student vote about ending football.

All time record of coaches in their first two years at North Texas.

J.W. Pender, 1913 & 1914

4-4

J.W. St. Clair, 1915 & 1916

8-3-1

Theorn J. Fouts, 1920 & 1921

10-4

John B. Reid, 1925 & 1926

11-3-1

Jack Sisco, 1929 & 1930

9-7-3

Lloyd Russell, one year only 1942

3-5

Odus Mitchell, 1946 & 1947

17-5-1 (two conference championships after NT did not field teams in 43, 44 & 45)

Rod Rust, 1967 & 1968

15-3-1 (with Odus Mitchell recruits)

Hayden Fry, 1973 & 1974

7-12-3 (with mainly Rod Rust recruits)

Jerry Moore, 1979 & 1980

11-11

Bob Tyler, 1981

2-9

Corkey Nelson, 1982 & 1983

10-13

Dennis Parker, 1991 & 1992

7-14-1

Matt Simon, 1994 & 1995

9-13-1

Darrell Dickey 1998 & 1999

5-17

With 17 games under his belt, Coach Dodge (so far) is 2-15

What is the worse start for a head coach in D1?

A very interesting question. I haven't yet been masochistic enough to look, though I did spend a little over an hour finding every letterman from 1998 in the North Texas media guide for the next time someone says that Dickey left Dodge with the most depleted roster in NT history.

I can't wait for this post then. That should be a good one. I am tempted to say it just so I can read the post. :D
