I agree that those are some important questions this off season, but my biggest burning question is... When will our offensive and defensive lines be the equal of the better G5 bowl teams?8 points

Who replaces our First Team All-Conference kicker Hedlund? That could be the difference between 2-3 wins! Surprised Vito did not have this in his Top 5.4 points

For those interested, the game is at 4pm CT tomorrow on FS1. Featured on the American team are three of our own standouts on defense: E.J. Ejiya, LB Nate Brooks, Corner Kemon Hall, Corner I don't know about y'all, but I'm excited to see three of our players represented. Edit: interesting note, Brent Stockstill, MTSU former QB, is on the opposing team.3 points

Also true. But it is a fantastic place to discuss politics and fashion.3 points

I'm not sure we will see this anytime soon. The reality of a scheme built on the spread offense will always make that emphasis on the OL a difficult path, not to mention that OL and DL are really the hardest areas to recruit these days from a competitive standpoint. Defensive line is harder to really know--it could, but the reality is that our focus on that side of the ball has been more at LB and the defensive backfield.3 points

With his track speed, I was thinking that Bean to receiver could be a good option also. Probably not now, at least until the post-Mason QB pecking order is established. Not that he couldn't turn out to be a serious dual threat QB of course.3 points

Side Show Joe summed it up just fine. If our QB isn't running for his life, and theirs is, we've got most of our games pretty much won.3 points

You look at the pick, Guyton gave up on the quick slant! Pics are not always on the qb just like QBs don’t deserve all the credit for Completions!3 points

I like to see one game we come out fast and keep the gas down until the last second.3 points

I don’t know. Of all the bad decisions they have made over the years drafting LB’s hasn’t been one of them. Not sure anyone could have done better than the evaluation of and getting Smith where they did get him and Vander Esch, who makes the Pro Bowl his rookie season? Rick2 points

Please bring these back, I really don’t want those throwbacks associated with just that game.2 points

Yes but it is concerning that all four of Fine’s backups (including Aune) will be freshmen. Both from an experience standpoint and, more importantly, once one of them is named the starter then the rest will all likely transfer because of how close they are in terms of grade classification.2 points

I just hate it that we lost in that uniform. It's still a good look.2 points

"North Texas redshirt sophomore quarterback Cade Pearson will transfer from the program, according to a source within the organization. Pearson only appeared in one game at UNT. He completed all four passes for 17 yards in a 58-16 win over Incarnate Word on Sept. 8, 2018, after being inserted as the third-string quarterback. However, he quickly fell down the depth chart against a pair of talented true freshmen" https://www.texasfootball.com/article/2019/01/17/reserve-north-texas-quarterback-cade-pearson-intends-to-transfer-from-program?ref=article_preview_img1 point

If North Texas has any chance to move up to the AAC, I believe someone needs to go. UConn football is a yearly disaster. https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2019/1/18/18187320/uconn-football-aac-fcs1 point

Nothing is certain in the league this year. UTSA shat the bed against MUTS last night. MUTS was 3-12 coming into the game. So we are tied for 2nd with Ballsack. I also watched FAU/Marshall last night. Both of those teams are going to very tough. I wouldn't be surprised if the league champ ended up with 5 to 6 conference losses.1 point

So in 32 years, they have only beaten Big 12 teams 17 more times than they've lost. So basically it takes them two seasons to gain a one game advantage. In 18 seasons since 2010 (a time period in which ESPN and the like tout the SEC as all-mighty and the Big 12 as the 4th or 5th best conference) they only have a 6 game advantage? So it takes them 3 seasons to gain a one game advantage. That just doesn't come across as dominating to me. I guess maybe just the d-lines are dominating, but it's pretty even at every other position.1 point

Mooney and Williams were both highly regarded coming in so I anticipate one of them stepping up.1 point

What about that kid that transferred from UCONN that sat out last year? Nate Hopkins I believe https://247sports.com/Article/North-Texas-adds-former-UConn-running-back-Nate-Hopkins-121230970/1 point

Protect Mason Fine and we will be fine. Two seasons ago the offense carried the load. I think the defense will better then two years ago but not sure it will be better then last seasons defense. Losing our two cb and two lb is going to tough to fill. Those guys had a great season. I think LeMasters needs to bulk up a little. My nightmare is last seasons when the backups came in the teams we were pounding had no trouble scoring against the backups.1 point

I agree with this. If Aune ever does anything here then, “Hell yeah!” Martin just seems like the next dude.1 point

I agree, I’m worried about LB, but I’m impressed with the crop we are bringing in. I think the Murray twins should make an impact. I think the “lesser” thought of the 2 will actually make the immediate impact. As far as the returnees.... All we can do is hope one of them steps up. They didn’t recruit any juco guys, so we gotta think that’s because they didn’t think they needed one. Right? We’ve recruited pretty heavily at DB and gotten some highly regarded guys at that spot Either way, we are still gonna live and die by our offense. As long as Mason is playing, we will probably be in every game1 point

Not as worried about CB as I am LB (maybe I should be). Ozougwu is going to need to do his best EJ impersonation. And then there's the DL. Wait how many things do I get to worry about for next year?1 point

Basketball is such a give and take and the first 10 minutes at least are just back-and-forths determining who has the hot shooting that night. Unless you're Zion Williamson, some nights you're on, some you're off, and that goes for damn near every player in the NCAA. I'm hoping Grant McCasland brings in the players that can provide more consistency than this group, because although we're having a great season so far, they're wildly streaky.1 point

Good luck to Cade. He seemed like a good kid. The QB room is just loaded right now.1 point
