Had a chance to attend an FBI regional threat briefing yesterday at "The Star." After the briefing all of the police chiefs were invited to take an insiders tour. Awesome facility and it was crazy to have people like Darren Woodson and Rod Marinelli just walk down the hall between us as we moved through the facility. As we walked through the dining hall one of the staffers approached the Frisco assistant chief to talk and, midway to our group I heard him yell out "Emmitt?". Turns out Brian Bethea is now with the Cowboys. He looks good, slimmed down, and was extremely friendly. Cool to see that he has "moved up" in the world.8 points

No, but hope I will be surprised. I think an election like this is destined to fail almost unanimously among FB programs. There is no big hook to this election like a move up in competition or a new stadium. This election has been delayed and is definitely on the radar of most students. Apparently, in most states these types of fees can just be mandated. So although there are a lot of schools with significant higher athletic fees they were not voted in by the students.3 points

I didnt think the Student Body would pass the Apogee thing either when I was in school but it did. I think it will pass because the Athletic department has done a damn good job of explaining to the student body that this effects all realms of UNT other than just Athletics. I do have my doubts but I feel positive. This university needs another kick start to further push this place in the right direction.3 points

Similar situation, G5 school looking to continue improving with an extremely apathetic student fanbase that is more concerned with rising tuition costs and how they're gonna be able to pay off their $100k+ debt when they graduate.2 points

This one could be scary but I would also vote yes. I base that on the fact that I believe that Wren Baker has established himself as more trustworthy than his predecessor and has communicated the need much better. If we can't pull our weight in CUSA then we certainly can't be considered for the AAC, MWC, or a P5 (maybe ever). The cost to attend UNT is/will still be less expensive than UT, Texas A&M, UTEP, UTSA, UTD, and Houston. Only Texas State and UT-Arlington will be a little cheaper and both are in the Sun Belt where the cost is a little cheaper. I view the University of Houston as our watermark that we must stay below and this increase would still keep us fairly well below that cost.2 points

Wilson created his own holes by manipulating defenders during the handoff, and before he even crossed the line of scrimmage. Feet placement, body fakes, hiding behind his lineman, etc. Dude quietly did so much for us.2 points

I don't get how this article failed to notice this key fact. Others can come close in running ability, maybe even surpass him in certain facets, but no one else I've seen can touch his pass blocking.2 points

I was on a club powerlifting team. Club sports is an awesome thing for students. But club sports are just that a club. I don't know the count now, but a few years ago over 7,000 students participated in club or rec sports. There's simply no way any University could fund them all. The theory behind club sports is that many students were athletes in HS or love a sport they've played all their life. They aren't playing on an intercollegiate team for variety of reasons. Sport isn't offered at their school, they weren't talented enough to make an intercollegiate team. Maybe they had D2 offers but wanted to go to a D1 school but still want to stay active in a sport. It's a club not unlike a non-sports club. Think intramurals but against other colleges with kids usually more devoted to the sport. Pretty much all you need is a group of dedicated students and a faculty member willing to be the adviser. Often there are club teams of sports the University actually has an intercollegiate team in. Students in these kind of clubs and orgs usually have higher grades, etc. There is limited funding you can apply for. But it doesn't go far.1 point

It’s the chicken or egg.. did the WRs, OL, RB make him or did Martin make them? I will say it will be interesting and a very encouraging sign is his dad is now a D1 QB coach at a P5 program.1 point

What is more important the crown or a bowl win? I think a bowl win even with a 7-5 record would be more positive! GMG1 point

7 wins is not going to get the West division crown again. Definitely a step down, IMO. Raise them standards!1 point

I may be off my rocker but I think RB is a position we shouldn't worry too much about. As long as the line can provide ample blocking, Smith, Johnson and Torrey will find holes and make things happen. Every time Smith touched the ball last year, I was thoroughly impressed. As long as we stay healthy here, we equal or surpass our numbers from last year1 point

When should we expect to know the result of the vote? Being done electronically it would strike me that it shouldn't take too long....1 point

Thanks, Marty. Bill Blakeley was my favorite coach and even more so my favorite person. I was privileged on several occasions to sit for as much as an hour listening to Blakeley stories. Bill was entertaining, witty and had a real gift for gab. He and Dan Spika have been our best basketball coaches but we may have a new challenger on the horizon.1 point

This was exactly how UNTFlyer got the stadium vote to get passed. Run it steathily, it gets passed, the masses get pissed and complain loudly, then the athletic department benefits. Hope it happens again here.1 point

I say we win. WKU will think they are lost having to travel to Denton. The resulting disorientation will lead to multiple panic attacks amongst their players and staff. Not having their goats to comfort them, they will either retreat to the comfort of their locker room or just ball up in the fetal position. We win going away.1 point
