  1. No, but claiming that humans rode dinosaurs is.

  2. Are these professors being forced to work there? So your view point is they should believe the way you do or they are wrong ? Aren't you saying that the university having that belief toward their professors is what is wrong with them? Again you take the typical stance of everything is OK as long as you believe what you believe.

  3. So because your school is playing a school you don't like or agree with how they do things, you will stop supporting your school...makes perfect sense...damn some folks are high and almighty...ITS EFFING FOOTBALL!!!! Get over it

  5. I think this Liberty thing might be the last straw for me. We're clearly dealing with the kind of people who will stop at nothing to get what they want and who will silence any dissent from within. If that's what it takes to be regularly competitive, then that is not a goal for me anymore which means I just don't care about the athletics. The more I read about Liberty and its leaders the worse I feel about this association, even if it means some wow factor visiting teams somehow.

  6. Can we all just get back to UNT sports discussions?

  7. We don't even need to wait on that. Liberty hired the ousted McCaw from Baylor as their AD who actively covered up sexual assault. To think that this is acceptable by anyone is sickening.

  8. I will never forget my junior year at UNT. We were in intermediate accounting together, and it was the week of the Alabama game. Our arrogant accounting professor from Minnesota was going on a rant about how bad the football team is and they were going to get destroyed by Alabama. Someone raised their hand and said, you do realize the starting QB is in your class. The professor's face turned bright red, and he was stumbling over his words. He did later apologize to Nathan, but it was hysterical to see the professor make an ass of himself in front of the class. That professor left UNT after that semester.

  13. I called the coaches/recruiting office twice seeking info on Jr Day. Both messages went unanswered and unreturned. Following the recorded instructions, I left my name, cell #, email address as well as my relationship to Calvin and his High Major teammate. Both were thoroughly looking forward to the visit with me the next morning. As things turn out, we didn't hear back from UNT and Calvin was reminded very late that he had committed to attend the Tx Tech scrimmage at the Star in Frisco (about the same time). As I had assumed, his grandfather (my brother in law) has taken on the leading role as primary advisor. He's insisting that Calvin focus on those schools who shows the most interest in him. UNT didn't register at all in this category. Suprised he put this out so soon. I'm interested to know where recent offers from Florida St and ND affects this list. I know he wants an offer from Alabama and LSU

  15. While I do not believe everything they believe I do believe they had the right to their beliefs. I would hope that our values embody supporting everyone's rights to their freedom of choice and respecting the fact that everyone does not have to agree with us.

  16. RV scheduled an away game at Mizzou for 2021. Would it be acceptable for us to visit them once more if they would give us a home game in return for what would then be the two roadies to Columbia? My vote is, yes, for the record. I think 2 for 1s with Big 12s or SECs are acceptable.

  17. I still don't want to play for them, for any amount of money. Garbage school with garbage academics, trying to buy their way into D1 sports and hiring garbage people with no regard for consequences. As much as we all hate SMU, at least it's a real university with real academic credentials and issues real degrees.

  19. So I have a question for the guys who have a hard time with us playing Liberty due to their beliefs. Honest answers now, because if I try to understand your logic then playing someone like say BYU should send you through the roof. Heaven forbid we play Notre Dame...

  20. From the information we have, Benford was transitioning out of the job at the time that this all went down. Not sure that he was the HC at the time. Of course, that assumes that all this was happening for the first time and had not been an issue prior to Benford being let go.

  24. It's true that any biologist willing to teach at Liberty is probably a young earth creationist, But if that professor came to his senses and accepted the overwhelming evidence for evolution he would be sacked. Liberty requires the teaching of a viewpoint that is demonstrably false. Do they have the right to do so? Yes. But I have the right to say that I want to have nothing to do with such a school. I'm disappointed that my university has chosen to do so, By the way, this isn't about religion. I have no problem with playing TCU or SMU. Those schools don't insist that only they are right.

  25. Emmitt with all due respect you are missing my point. While I believe he has every right to his opinion and his beliefs, but there are professors that may believe other than he does. This is similar to saying a professor who has a different opinion on global warming is wrong or right compared to the other professor who believes differently.

  29. I think you missed Aquila Verdis' point... His comment (I think) is about all of the people saying "Wow look at Liberty's facilities! Look at who they've scheduled!! Wow they're kicking our assess in the race to the top of college athletics!" Liberty is spending an assload of money on athletics because they don't spend squat on academics and they're going around hiring people like McCaw as AD. That action alone speaks volumes about the people, attitudes and culture in charge there. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/sports/wp/2016/11/29/in-hiring-ian-mccaw-liberty-university-sends-a-chilling-message/?utm_term=.a31a29749599 Liberty is the poster child for "Win at any cost" and when I look at what they do, and see that the only way to rise to the levels they seem to be attaining at the pace they are going, I too think "Nope, not for me. Not for my UNT. I don't wanna sell my soul and give up all that makes my school important just to get up to the next level." I can't even begin to imagine the horrific crap we're gonna hear about in the next 5-10 years about the inner workings and goings-on within Liberty athletics. I'm gonna call it now and say that the NCAA will have to do some sort of death penalty or other major unprecedented program suspension or something similar. Now, that being said, we can discuss the ulterior motives of trying to legitimize Liberty as an institution by joining the higher levels of the NCAA. Getting your ass kicked by SEC schools doesn't make up for the fact that most of their degree programs are unaccredited nationally. Most of their credits won't transfer anywhere else: Liberty for the most part is on par with those for-profit "colleges" that got shut down over the past few years because they were issuing worthless degrees. I don't have a problem with Liberty because they are an ultra-conservative evangelical school. That's fine, you do you. Whatever floats your boat. People aren't forced to go there. What I have a problem with is them trying to masquerade as a normal D1 university.

  30. NT should not help legitimize this bunch no matter who else is participating. They openly aspire to be Baylor. Something weird is going on with this series, and it's no good. Maybe they used money and influence with the administration to get some things they wanted from us. As for 'just a football game', that go-along mentality was probably contemplated and expected by whoever agreed to do it. You'll fit right in at Liberty.

  32. What's wrong with playing those two universities? Playing ND would be an honor, BYU would be straight up cool. They're religious but they're not an elaborate Ponzi scheme.

  36. I did... ...And it is (by the way, this is not just at UNT but everywhere). Here is what I was taught about how life began on Earth: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miller–Urey_experiment And if you can believe this (completely removing a vital observational chemical standard: oxidation), you may have more faith than I do. As for creating the Earth in 6 days... Everyone's favorite miracle of Jesus is turning water into wine, right? Our understanding of winemaking (via observation) is that it must age in order to be any good. However, Jesus' wine was instantly ready to drink (and all agreed it was the best wine at the wedding). Is it possible God is not bound by our understanding of time and can CREATE something with observable age? Back on topic: As it stands now, playing Liberty instead of Army is stupid. If things continue to move around, and additional better games show up on the schedule that were previously not available with the Army games, then I'll change my mind.

  37. As a current biology student here at UNT, I can assure you we were never taught anything like that lol. ETA: I had Dr. Benjamin for my intro to Bio I class so other professors may teach differently, but it seems to be that the theory of evolution is unanimously accepted among biological sciences professors here.

  38. No offense but I hope you didn't take your biology at UNT.

  39. No, it is about religion and beliefs...you agree with tcu/smu thinking they aren't only right, but in religion, many people believe only they are right. Let liberty believe and teach as they do and let tcu/smu teach as they do...otherwise, you have a problem with liberty's viewpoint on religion but not tcu/smu...mighty Baptist of ya As a teacher of religions, there are going to be a ton of pissed off people upon death.

  43. This has nothing to do with visiting a beautiful part of the country, or scheduling a FBS opponent we can beat, or the quality of their facilities. This has to do with lending credibility to an institution that is contrary to the values I hope UNT embodies. It isn't about conservatism or liberalism. It's about an ultra-right religious ideology where adherence to one man's interpretation of Christianity trumps everyone else's.

  46. Quiet period The quiet period tightens things a bit more, preventing any off-campus contact or viewing. Visits to the college's campus and written or electronic communications are still permitted. Coaches often try to have prospects visit campus unofficially during this time in the spring and early summer, so that they can become familiar with campus.
