Now isn't this a beautiful sight

 I think I give the nod to LA by a hair. Phoenix had the nicest one.

I took the bus from LA to Vegas once to see how it was. I...get this...LEFT MY CAR IN THE GREYHOUND PARKING LOT OVER THE WEEKEND!

I was a brave (read: stupid) young man. When I got back, I was happy to see my car was still there, all its hubcaps and side view mirrors still intact.

As for the bus experience itself, the driver went off on this tyrannical rant over the loud speaker as we pulled out of the parking lot about how he would leave passengers stranded in the desert if they were caught drinking or smoking on the bus. As soon as we hit Interstate 10, out come the dip cans and forties. But unlike the ever raucous bar car on AmTrak (which once upon a time ran from Union Station to Vegas, and oh lawdy), the bus was as quiet as a church mouse. I did enjoy not having to navigate the 15, especially while still hung over on the return trip.

But I never parked my car at the LA greyhound station again.

CMJ, I suggest not taking the bus to Dallas anymore:

‘I’m going to flip this bus,’ irate passenger allegedly yells before Arizona crash

An irate passenger aboard a Dallas-bound Greyhound bus allegedly attacked the driver early Thursday morning, causing the bus to crash along Interstate 10 in Arizona, injuring 24.

If I worried about every possible bad thing that could happen, I'd never leave my apartment.

That said, my intent is to never take the Greyhound that far again. If I had known earlier about whether I was gonna be able to go, I would have gotten on a jet.
