Akunne is one of my favorite players but he's not the season leader. That honor goes to Laraimie Lee who has 16 total tackles compared to 14 for Akunne and Jackson. But a shoutout should go to all...the defense is playing way above my expectations.

Still scares the crap out of me to have DBs leading in tackles.

I hear what you're saying . . . but it's really not indicative of a porous D-line/LB corps when the other team is averaging 1.2 yards per rush.

I'm not sure I understand; isn't Akunne an outside linebacker?

Coach Mac said on the show tonight that they have 4 linebackers with Akunne in that group (Orr, Wright, Phillips? Polk?) He mentioned that Phillips was hurt again and was day to day for the K-State game. He really praised Akunne and said he would be a very productive player here.

A safety and DB are leading the team in tackles after 2 games.

keep in mind that the safety and DB are the only positions that we have in there almost every play... we are getting a lot of rotation from are other positions

D-Line occupy the blockers so the LB's can flow to the ball. Our Safeties and CB's are also alert to providing run support. Most of the tackles, made by others than the D-Line, were still close to or behind the line of scrimmage. If the DB's make the tackles at the line of scrimmage, there is not a problem. On the other hand if DB's are making the tackles in our secondary, on rushing plays, then we have a problem.
