70. North Texas Mean Green

ESPN 300 commits: 0 | Previous ranking: 70

Top offensive commit: WR Mason Ferguson (three stars)

Top defensive commit: DE Jaedon Langley (three stars)

With their first full class, Eric Morris and staff were active on the recruiting trail and smartly leaned on the deep pool of talent in the state. A one-time Arizona commit, Langley was a key in-state win and gives them a defensive lineman with a good frame, get-off and agility to develop in the trenches. Zhaiylen Scott was another good in-state addition to their defensive front. He lacks some in ideal height at roughly 6-feet, but is an explosive player with a good motor. Morris, who has a background of leading productive offensive units, added potential playmakers including Ferguson, a fluid receiver with good length and speed and as a senior had 13 TD catches and averaged over 20 yards-per-catch. Kiefer Sibley is a compact, all-purpose type back and proved he can be productive, rushing for over 1,800 yards with 24 TDs his senior season.

71 through 75 is San Diego State, Baylor, Memphis, Arizona, and UCLA in that order.

Other AAC schools in the top 75:

Tulane at 69, Tulsa at 60, and USF at 53.

Edit to add our ESPN recruiting page. Worth noting, we have 4 DL rated as 3 stars per ESPN including 2 at DT. 26 of our recruits are ESPN 3 stars.

So far Tulsa has sighed 12 high school recruits from Dallas. Whoever their recruiter is should be on our radar.

We are above the schools ranked 71-75 only because our class size is bigger. They all have a higher average player ratings than we do.

They don't do average class ratings on ESPN unless I just can't find it.

Class breakdowns:

UNT 30 Commits, 26 3-star recruits

San Diego State 27 commits, 16 3-star recruits

Baylor 16 commits, 13 3-star recruits

Memphis 34 commits, 19 3-star recruits

Arizona 17 commits, 1 4-star, 10 3-star recruits

UCLA 10 commits, 2 4-star, 8 3-star recruits

Your argument certainly stands for UCLA who has a very small HS class. Arizona's is smaller than traditional 25 recruit classes but their 3 star ratio is not very good. Baylor is smaller than traditional as well, 3 star ratio is better. Memphis and SDSU have the numbers but not the stars. Again, all per ESPN but ours is stacking up just fine.

Any signings at all or worth mentioning?

Forney DL Tristan Bennett is a new add. Maybe a walk-on but he was very productive at Forney. Nicknamed Tank Bennett. 1st Team all district at 6'00" 250. Forney went to the state semi finals this past season and their defense was a huge part of it.

Regardless of who is right, he is going to have to put on quite a bit of good weight.

Is today the spring signing day?

It is the Spring Signing Day.  Early Signing day was back in December and when Most colleges try and wrap up the class so they can move to the next class during the January period

Yes, he's a walk on. Pretty good tape, but like others said he will need to add some weight.

Will be fun to watch how he develops with a diet and workout plan.  I can’t see him playing the nose for us in this d, but could definitely put on the needed weight for an end.
