I think your logic is flawed. If you were offered a big job, the first people who would know about it are the members of your family. And they'd talk to each other.

Well, in my line of work, we always go with the only wrong decision is no decision. However, I think we can modify that for RV with the only wrong decision is the decision I make, besides resignation/early retirement.
