  1. Seth has had ample time to build his program...he has not done so.

  2. I think most on here feel 6 and 6 is the bottom line. For God sake people...we're talking CUSA Western Division. Possibly the worst Division in the FBS.

  3. I’m of the mind we could be better this year and still not be .500 and I’d keep SL around another year. But I get the fed up people. I’m definitely leaning we will not be substantially better but this is CUSA so who the hell knows.

  4. It's not apologist to realize that we could be a much improved team (on defense) and still go 5-7.

  5. No. If we finish with less than 6 wins... barring catastrophic injuries to several players, Littrell has to go.

  6. I would like an answer to this question as well. UTA coworker claims we are ducking them.

  7. “Easy to predict” but not necessarily? (Impressed with your knowledge of HS bands, Adler).😊 A lady friend who is a Fort Worth attorney & who was in the OU “Pride of Oklahoma” marching band thinks a college marching band can be too large. I might agree with her. Silver Eagle, myself & maybe another on GMG seem to like the Big 10 fast-stepping style, but those college bands seem to have maneuvering space on the field, too. I was at this UH Band Day at the Astrodome, circa 1966. Our Danbury HS Band Director Manuel Garza had a couple of us guys from our football team (at our request) come as “band chaperones” (with the excuse of letting us help with the larger instruments).🙄(Mr. “G” was a UT Longhorn Marching Band alum & a fine trumpet player in his own right). The Tonight Show’s Doc Severensen was the Celebrity Guest Conductor for this UH Band Day. UH Band Day was a fun “full” day & evening since the 13,000+ bandsmen had a 2 hour rehearsal that afternoon. UH Coogs won the game. (Eat em’ up). 😥Sadly, both the Astrodome & UH Band Days (of this magnitude) are a thing of the past. Give em’ credit, though, UH did dream big & that would pay off for them.

  8. I will wager any amount that we will finish better than 6th. I think our offense will be vastly more consistent than a year ago and our defense can only get better. We couldn't even get lined up correctly on the defensive the ball last season. This D will be tremendously better coached and prepared. I know I'm sipping the Kool-Aid but this team will be entertaining to watch.

  9. I didn't see a magazine that knocked our offense. In spite of the loss of our consensus All-American receiver they all praised the offense. The success of North Texas football depends on the defense. I firmly believe that we will be improved with Bennett running the defense but is it enough to keep the current staff? Only time will tell.

  10. It is easy to predict that this will be their largest number of Green Brigade members in school history! ••• With 560 brand spankin’ new Green Brigade unis’ they’ll undoubtedly be the best dressed college marching band in Texas this Fall. •••The 2021 UNT Green Brigade has also been invited to ☘️Ireland☘️ next Spring to participate in a humongous Irish festival. 🗣Lucky y’all!🤢😆

  11. I hear ya, and apologize if it sounded like I was calling you out. There's a marching band part of me that was red-lining. Sometimes it gets outta control.

  12. You and I know all that. Vito knows that. I don't know that the other C-USA beatwriters know all that. I'd be interested to see where Vito slotted us. I think the offense should be fine, if not better than last year, especially if Aune can turn the corner and/or Ruder comes in and blows the doors off the QB spot. The idea of Shorter returning and Simpson taking his next step in his development, along with Torrey lining up in the slot and Addaway in the backfield at the same time is scary. Bloesch has proven he can get the O-Line righted, and with their experience (losing Gray hurt, but I don't think he's irreplaceable), I expect them to be even better than last year as well. There are a lot of reasons to be hopeful about this year's offense for sure. ...I'm just saying, I see why outsiders wouldn't think so. You lose a Consensus All-American / C-USA MVP, and people expect a dropoff in offensive production.

  13. In that way, we might be. Looks like our non-conference schedules are shaping up with 4 types of games: 1 - Preseason tournament games 2 - Road games at High Major and At-Large caliber Mid Major programs 3 - Home and homes with top quality Mid Major programs and hopefully High Majors 4 - Home games with no return games from Sun Belt and lower competition Wren might just feel like at this point he can get better quality programs than UTA to take up spots in that 3rd category. In 19-20 we hosted Little Rock, who went on to win the Sun Belt regular season title that year, and it appears as though there was never going to be a return game there. I don’t know if we really have the status to be “big-timing” UTA, but Wren’s job is to put together the best schedule he can. If that means home & homes and neutral-site games with programs like Nevada and Tulsa in lieu of a UTA series, then that’s what he has to do.

  14. It'll be very interesting to see...the firing of DMac and buying out $2.1 million has us all hopeful that we would do that again if needed. But the question is what it would take to get to "if needed"? Is it less than 6 wins? Is it less than 5 wins? What if we go 4-8, like I predict? It'll be very interesting to see if that would trigger the buying out of SL and other coaches...

  15. Just as annoying as not being on Mississippi State's schedule is that UTA already has 12 OOC games scheduled and we are not one of them. It would be a shame to not play that game.

  17. This disgusts me. “When he was committed to UNT, I didn’t feel good about it, I just felt like he was better than that,” said Kevin Murray, Fennegan’s quarterback trainer since 2013. “USC is a great program, and I’ve known Graham for years, but I didn’t feel comfortable with Cade going there, just too much uncertainty. In Boise, you have stability, you’re going to win and you’re going to get coached up.” https://theathletic.com/1799404/2020/05/07/cade-fennegan-boise-state-quarterback-recruiting/ He and Kevin Murray can go ride the pine someplace else.

  18. Looked at the LSU schedule, and they have 13 games already. I don't think we will be playing LSU I also looked at the Texas Tech schedule, and it said this under pending: Finalizing neutral site game at Dickies Arena, opponent unknown. Also looking at playing an off campus game in the Midland/Odessa area That would be a cool event to play in. Love playing TTU

And I have usually seen that most people’s mouths are the same color as mine…but I am a white skinned guy, so maybe I’m supposed to say I’m terrible and regret being born white every day, like so many liberals have said…

  20. AS I mentioned several weeks ago, this upcoming season for Seth Littrell is as intriguing as any I have ever seen for a head football coach at a FBS school. He could: 1.) Get Fired and have two years worth of salary (2.6 million) bought out 2.) Win enough to not get fired, nor extended, because his buyout is still huge. 3.) Win enough to get an extension 4.) Win enough to get hired away Its very rare to see a head coach with almost every possible scenario he could face all be real possibilities after one season, but I'll be damned if SL isn't in that spot.

  22. "A thousand in the band" was a claim tossed around on the news when Allen ISD opened their stadium a decade ago. I have no way of proving or debunking the statement. It sounded outlandish but I had no real reason to doubt it.

  23. I'm not sure how they think our defense will actually be worse than last year or our offense less effective. I think we're going to keep games alot closer than people think by running effectively and getting 2-3 more stops a game (God forbid a few 3 and outs). We have skill and some really solid recruiting classes the last few years that should provide more depth and athleticism. Who knows though, maybe I'm just too optimistic.

  24. Just a couple minutes of Googling reveals their numbers between 600-800. I'm very skeptical of 1000. Maybe it's a headcount of every kid in the general band program? I've seen what 400 on the field looks like. Already crowded, anything beyond 600 seems impossible without just standing in huge blocks from one end to the other.

  26. https://www.hudl.com/profile/13795339/Shawn-Jones http://ny2lasports.com/article_one.aspx?articleid=4885 He plays the game with a flare that is not seen a lot at the high school level. He can score the basketball from a variety of ways with little to no effort. He has a lightning quick first step as well as a crossover dribble that at times can bring defenders to their knees. He has a strong upper body frame and is an exceedingly difficult matchup for defenders at the high school level. He can get his shoot off against most defenders and has increased his range to beyond the three-point line. In the open court he sees the floor very well with the ball in his hand and sets him teammates up for easy baskets. He has a high basketball IQ and is particularly good in the pick and roll. He does not force the issue and plays the game at a steady pace but can turn on the intensity at a snap of finger and create plays for his team at any point.

  28. I believe that "Fessor Cook" said that the membership is over 400, which represents the largest ever NT Band. He also mentioned that over 500 uni's were purchased. This is in stark contrast to the North Texas marching Band that I watched in the 60's. They had 128 members, and everyone had to audition. "Letsgiveacheer" can correct me on this last statement, but I believe that all of the 128 were music majors. I don't consider 400+ to be a very manageable size unless you are the fighting aggie band and you do mainly military marching. I much prefer this...... The Ohio State University Marching Band School The Ohio State University Location Columbus, Ohio Conference Big Ten Founded 1878 Director Christopher Hoch Members 228 (192 pregame marchers, 195 halftime marchers, 36 alternate members) I also prefer their tempo, which was ( and once again "Letsgiveacheer can correct me on this) pretty much the tempo of the 60's NT band.

  37. Call me naive, but how is the NIL a 100% terrible thing like many on this board are making it out to be? While I do agree that there is the likelihood for separating the Power 5 from the Group of 5 and the big guns in the Power 5 from the rest, is this not fair for the athletes? Any other student on a scholarship can monetize themselves for what they are on scholarship for. Music scholarship student can release an album and make money. Art scholarship student can sell paintings and not lose a scholarship. How is this any different? Further, in all honesty, it is not as if UNT was competing against the big guns of college football, nor where they ever going to. I love UNT as much as the next guy, but realistic expecations are important. We can and should be the top of the also rans in the next college football shake up.

  38. I am more interested in how we lose than how many. Same record with this schedule but with competitive games and beating bad teams would be a stark improvement. I want to see real improvement from the offense (not just stats) and at least ten points per game less on D.
