  1. Let’s try and look at this from an unbiased standpoint to back that claim. Let’s say another school in our conference lost 3 starters and was going into the season with the following starting lineup: PG: 5’11” JUCO signee with offers from ETSU, UIC, Montana State, and Florida Gulf Coast SG: Returning starter coming off 7.7 points/game SF: 6th man coming off 6.2 points/game PF: Returning starter coming off 10.4 points/game C : Bench player coming off 2.9 points/game If this was a team not named North Texas coming into next season with a lightly recruited JUCO PG and the other four starters coming off of 27.2 points/game combined, would we be looking at that as a top end CUSA starting lineup on paper? I like the way the team is shaping up with 3 spots left to use, but it’s hard to say that is currently a top-end CUSA starting lineup without personal biases.

  3. I think the big difference between Grant and the Benford, when it comes to recruiting, is that Benford went after the best overall talent he could get (star power). Grant seems to go after the players that best fit his system. Grants guys are still talented. But, they seem to be a bit more under the radar. It's so nice to have a coach that has a long term plan and follows through with it.

  4. Making the NCAA round of 32 makes it the best season in program history, regardless of which team you think was the best.

  6. Depends on how you define best season. I'm pretty sure we all understand this is not a discussion of best team. I know we've had some great seasons while in some prestigious conferences, but it's gotta be hard to top a win over a T20 team in the top postseason tournament, in front of today's media/visibility.

  11. We've encountered something similar before. In 1989 Corky had signed Todd Wageman who is probably the greatest player to have ever played for Springtown, Tx. The star running back had piled up over 1300 yards and 18 touchdowns in just 11 games his senior season, earning First Team All-State honors. This speedster was going to be lining up behind star sophomore quarterback Scott Davis. North Texas had been ranked #1 in 1AA during much of the '88 season with wins at Texas Tech, Rice, and the infamous UT officiating debacle. Anticipation and expectations were high in Denton. Tragically, Todd was killed in a car accident early in the morning of April 9, 1989. These tragic events within our North Texas family weigh heavily. Like with Willie Simmons, the loss of life of anybody so young is terrible, and that they were indoctrinated into our North Texas family makes the loss seem so much more personal.

  13. Show me the examples of those who attack and kill officers not being held accountable. I haven’t seen the “man shoots cop; let off with warning” news lede, but maybe I missed it.

  18. It is also nice to have a coach that can develop that talent. I would love to have Trilli back as lead recruiter and Mac developing those kids.

  19. I’m really looking forward watching Bell develop into a star. His energy level is outstanding. If he can get more consistent on his outside shot or drive to the hoop more often it will be next level stuff.

  20. Tennis article on Mean Green Sports indicates that they have a shortened tournament roster of 6 active players, the minimum to field a team. The season roster listed 7 players, but don't know who is missing or why. Also only one senior on the team. It only names 4 of the active players in the article so I could not determine which one of the 7 wasn't active. Maybe playing at home will be an advantage...they will need a miracle to do well, I am afraid. But, GMG, give it all you have!

  21. As far as the signing class limit goes, I'm fairly sure Willie counts against it. Regardless, it's all extremely insignificant in light of what has happened.

  23. I like it, but I feel Abou is going to need help either with another C or a very athletic PF. Would like to see a guy like Deng at 6’8, that can play both if needed. GMG

  24. I hope we land Curtis Jones too. I love his floor game and his size as a 6’4” point guard. Jones does a great job getting to the middle of the paint and forcing post defenders and wing defenders to collapse on him giving him wide open looks for the offensive post player and spot up shooters. Perry on the other hand is great at creating his own shot and bombing threes efficiently but not as effective at getting good looks for others. Jones averaged 5.5 assists per game to Perry’s 2.5. I think Perry would be really good off the bench as a 6th man. Sort of like a DJ Draper who is able to run point or kill teams with his off-ball shooting. Then use the last two spots we have on a big who can either start over Ousmane or at least rotate with him, and a forward who can play the 4 and rotate with Bell. Preferably a stretch 4 like Bell. Old habits die hard. Even in the transfer portal era Mccasland still seems to be favoring his JUCO roots.

  25. Looks like this would be a good get. Would enjoy the "Jones Brothers" joined by McBride in a three man backcourt with the two Joneses being listed at 6'5" who can both handle the ball and serve as a lead initiator. Here's a Curtis Jones highlight package (headband, long hair)... Some info on our competition...

  27. On Monday, Stephen Nicholas Broderick, 41, was arrested roughly 20 hours after the shooting that ended in three deaths, but it’s not his first time in custody. Broderick, a former Travis County Sheriff’s Office detective, was arrested last June by Texas Rangers — accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old. According to Stephen and Amanda’s divorce filings, Amanda requested sole custody of their two children (Alyssa and the couple’s nine-year-old son) due to Stephen having a “history or pattern of committing sexual abuse” on a person under age 18. Additionally, Amanda requested all visits with his kids should be supervised and that he not consume alcohol for at least 12 hours before. 28. Serious answer...and one that I actually think should be universally accepted by all sides in this debate...: police do too much. we criminalize our problems and then have asked police to fix/regulate everything wrong in society and some/lots/most they do not have legitimate training for. Police are not medical experts. Police are not mental health experts. Police are not domestic or substance abuse counselors. The message of “Defund the Police” (bad branding, for sure) is that the money we have continually poured into our policing and legal systems could be better allocated across a broader array of services that will actually better people and society.

  31. So in this scenario, every person that has a job should never look or accept a better job at a company higher up the ladder then the one they held previously? I'd also like to point out that we should fire McCasland immediately, since we left Arkansas State after just 1 year, to take a higher paying job and be closer to family.

  32. This is happening all across college basketball and this horse ain’t coming back into the barn...the transfer portal will basically look like a job posting site. Guys from Mid majors will move up to the big schools to show off their skills, while guys at the big schools will Move down to the mid majors for a new chance to play more.

  33. Seems like an opportunity too good to pass up. We signed him under the expectation he’d play two seasons here and he did, starting every game and winning us two conference championships. Couldn’t have asked for anything more out of him. Easy guy to root for.

  34. Yeah, you’re right, but only if the agent is an NCAA-certified agent. This is a recent rule change that the NCAA enacted when they created their system of having their own NCAA-certified agents. If the player signs with an agent who is not on the NCAAs list of NCAA-certified agents then their eligibility is gone once they sign with that agent. Almost all of the big-name NBA agents did not bother getting NCAA certified when this became a rule last summer.

  35. I don't think you lose your college eligibility as long as you do not sign a contract with a pro team, or retain the agent. Hamlet and Simmons could return, although that is a very long shot. I doubt Simmons has any hopes of signing with the NBA, and he will be able to get an international contract. Hamlet is predicted to be a late second round pick or go undrafted. Even if Hamlet chooses to return to college ball, it may not be to NT.

  37. that's true, but this should not even be a match, when you consider the schools and facilities. UNT has more money and opportunities than UTA, the match should not even be close, if recruiting is up to par with other CUSA schools.

  38. No, I wanted a link because I am not seeing anything to back up your claim that they are testing dosing. Also, although there has been years of research on the RNA type vaccine, nobody knows the long term effects. I have talked to trusted people that have spent their career in medicine that think there could be issues.
