  1. Credit to Seth for the best game he’s called this season.

  2. Couple of thoughts on this game. 1. Darden is just so, so good. I know everyone knows this, but it just makes the game look so easy. A great combination of unbelievable physical skills, the drive to work hard and the best part is his understanding of the game which probably goes back to his HS QB'ing days. 1a. Man, Bean looked like a different player tonight. Confident, decisive and a leader. Loved the shot of him on the sideline smiling. His speed is special and really adds another dimension to our offense. After seeing him standing by himself on the sidelines during the last few games I was worried he had checked out. Coach said in the post game interview that they had a couple of man to man conversations and it showed. Really proud of him and he should be proud of himself for not giving up. What a special performance. 2. The defense has a ways to go, but they looked so much better. "The Twins" were great providing pressure and I am excited about how they develop. If we could have set the edge a couple of times, then we would have eliminated the long runs by the MUTS RB, Mobley I think. Even though we still gave up too many big plays, you can see the progress they are making. Lot's of youngsters getting valuable time out there. 3. I think the questions about where this team is were answered by how they responded to the early adversity. It would have been telling if they had hung their heads and given up, but they stayed after it and ended up with a great comeback win in record setting fashion. 4. Man Bean looked great. Like a different ballplayer all together. Really, really proud of him. 5. Happy to see Nic Smith contribute. Wish he would have held on to what would have been a TD reception. He, Torrey and Siggers just wore out the MUTS. They should be happy Adaway and Johnson are out because those two freshmen would have just added to their misery. 6. The game is much more fun to watch when not also tracking the comments on this board. 7. Proud of the team for not getting discouraged early. I hope they really enjoy this win, have fun on the flight home and then remember what got them the W. 8. The stupid penalties hurt early and it was great to see those eliminated as the game progressed. 9. Great game by the OL. 10. There is so much young talent on this team. That coupled with the current recruiting class has me excited about the future. It sure is nice reflecting on a win and not having a loss ruin the second half of the weekend.

  4. Based on the way tonight's game went, there shouldn't be any controversy. Bean is our starter in our next game. But the way the season has gone, the precedent has been set--if any QB isn't doing well, he's getting pulled for the other guy, and pretty quick.

  5. The difference in Bean tonight, to me, was the confidence he showed. He looked comfortable throwing the ball, was decisive with the option reads and didn't look hesitant to run the ball. He is an incredible talent, and my knock on him in the past was that he looked overwhelmed with the game. Man, he looked so much better tonight. Every game will obviously not be this easy, but if he can just lead like he did tonight, then he can be a game changer. I disagree that we have average QB's. We have two inexperienced QB's that just need to gain experience and grow. They have different skill sets, but Bean's speed adds another dimension. Great decision making tonight.

  6. I am in favor of playing the hot hand. If one is doing poorly. Put the other in and hope for better success. I am happy that SL made the move as soon as the turnovers piled up instead of trying to work through them with the same QB causing the turnovers.

  7. So.. Darden is legitimately one of the best WR in ALL of college football, right?

  9. Now that Vito has predicted a loss, watch the guys win. If that's the case, and Vito predicts another win all season, he needs to immediately have his parking pass revoked permanently. In all honesty, maybe a trip on the road will do the guys some good to re-focus on the game... who knows?

  11. If the defense doesn't give away too many more TD's we should win this one. But, I'm going to tap the breaks a little. Middle is pure garbage. The real test is how we play against LA Tech (who has owned us), and UTSA (who played Army tough today). Despite how this season ends, Dardin has been a joy to watch. So, happy for him. I'm glad Bean finally got back on the field. I have to wonder how our games against Charlotte and USM may have turned out. Also, the RB stable is incredible. Hats off to those players and Cobbs. What a job if coaching he is doing.

  14. I’m amazed we’re still having this discussion. This isn’t a “styles” argument. This isn’t about “being hot”. Quarterbacking is about one thing above all else. You have the ball in your hands on every offensive play. You can’t give the ball to the other team. Aune has 8 TD’s (passing and rushing) this year...and 4 INT’s...and 3 fumbles. This after playing pretty much all of the snaps in the Southern Miss and Charlotte games. Jason Bean has 10 TD’s (rushing and passing)...and 1 INT. Bean may not pass your “eye test”, but he passes my “eye-N-T” test. IMG_5877.MP4

  17. Is Middle really that bad or did Bean finally figure it out? The kid looks very comfortable and relaxed out there. He looks very mature today.

  20. Even though the defense was still pretty bad overall. They were the most energized and actually watchable for the first time this year. I saw a lot of the younger guys making plays tonight and that should be what happens the rest of the year. Seth called this year a "free year", so play the younger more talented but low experienced players. Loved the twins flashing tonight, #35 seemed very fast off the ball and was causing the qb to flush the pocket a lot. Nixon was a hard hitting linebacker, he needs to be careful though, I saw a lot of after the snap things that could be unsportsmanlike conduct with different refs. Overall they weren't good but at least it was watchable and something to build on.

  21. This discussion exists In part because of Beans career stats, not just this season. but the lesson from this game still stands: Bean earned the next start.

  22. If Aune is the most talented passer, he is yet to show it. There should be no question who the number QB is after this game. Some of you don't seem to grasp how fast Bean is. Let team stack the line and see what happens. There should be multiple receivers open. There has been nothing evident to me that suggest Aune has a better arm. It is obvious, that Bean has not proven he can be consistent game to game at QB, but Aune certainly hasn't proven that ether.

  37. The key here is the Oline. IMO, the Oline was successful tonight for the most part in the pass game. HOWEVER, the Oline was fantastic in the run game tonight. Offense goes as the oline goes. Oline gave both the RBs and Bean the running room they needed. Scheming against the QB run is a good point. At the beginning of the year I thought Aune was the better passer and Bean was the better runner, but Bean didn't turn the ball over, either on a fumble or on an INT, and his passes had good "zip" to them when needed. Aune pressed tonight and got two INTs in the first quarter for it. He also held the ball too long on the RPO play where he fumbled. That was a theme against Charlotte as well in terms of Aune turnovers. I'm excited to see what Bean can do. I want our RBs to control the game though. I'm not comfortable with either QB and we need to put every effort into the Oline runblocking and our RB room until either Bean or Aune can confirm their status as starter, though at this point, Bean should obviously be the starter. That being said, arm talent is a thing and, at this point, I do think in terms of power Aune has the more powerful arm. If he can get the other stuff sorted, maybe he can reclaim the starting position. However, we roll with Bean at this point. If he struggles, try Aune again. It really plays to us that they have a different skillset. If we swap them out midgame it changes the dynamics of the entire offense.

  39. No, the Muts are not good; but this game still is easily the best NT has played all year. In most of the game, it actually looked like NT had a decent defense. Darden is always a beast, but Bean was the MVP of this one. I really didn't think NT would win another game this year, now there is hope.

  40. I think SL was stubborn and wanted the best QB to run his offense. It could be that neither will be great at doing that. I don't know if this will translate every week but we should've been doing something similar to this all along. Having said that it doesn't help when we are immediately down double digits every week.

  41. Adaway, Siggers, Torrey, and Bean is ridiculous talent running the ball. Siggers has looked like his old self today. Passing lanes should be wide open with that group.

  42. Can you imagine what Addaway would do to this MT defense. He is easily our best back.

  46. Most of us have no idea what Baker is doing or not doing. It should be obvious an AD is not going to publicly berate an active coach. Many would think it unfair to judge a coach this season, when multiple players are routinely unavailable. . Plus all teams are losing unparalleled attendance dollars, while adding high expenses for dealing with the coronavirus environment. So buying out a massive contract (at UNT's level) is probably not even an option.
