  1. "Iowa, Army, FAU, Troy all received Top 25 votes." "The only loses we had were to those teams." Thus, Army was a loss??? No biggy, but what am I misreading here? Go easy on me. I'm old and can't understand the written word like I use to.

  2. We have a winner here...everything you just posted is exactly right. As a matter of fact, for us in the G5’s it’s even worse. We don’t even get to play for a championship.

  4. The punt block cost the game. Fromm getting dragged down by the face mask cost the game. The ridiculous pass interference cost the game. College football is an official joke now. They want certain teams to win. Alabama lost their division and conference. It's a bs joke. It's a monopoly and I'm not going to pay it any attention in the future. College football championships are an invitational, not a playoff. Not a sporting event. Its bs.

  5. Sucks that it killed your enthusiasm to this point. As others have pointed out, Grant’s team plays extremely hard. Think you’d really enjoy this brand of basketball. It’s a great pallet cleanser after the Benford era. I renewed season tickets this year after not doing the last three. I travel a bunch for work and can’t make every game. If you ever want to try this team out without investment on your end, let me know. Be happy to hook you up with tickets so you can see for yourself what we’re all talking about. This team is a ton of fun to watch and Grant is an excellent coach.

  6. Tell him that based on recent history, maybe UT should consider dropping down to the FCS level.

  11. Looks like UNT played four teams that got consideration for the Top 25....Iowa, Army, FAU, Troy all received Top 25 votes. That bodes well for our team. The only loses we had were to those teams. Our next goal should be Top 25 consideration, if not well established in the Top 25 http://www.espn.com/college-football/rankings/_/poll/1/week/1/year/2017/seasontype/3

  12. Now that we have a new AD, new football coach and new basketball coach. Now that we are having winning seasons and higher expectations. Now that things are looking better gauged against any metric you choose. When will your attitude improve?

  13. You hit this one spot on, I wish more people realized this instead of complaining anytime a kid flips to a bigger school. While I would love to land him if thats where he feels best then go there. His athletic ability afforded him the option to chose.

  14. Need to find a solid replacement for Moore. GH continue to work with Fine mechanics, needs to step into throws, far to many he is hopping off back foot ==> under thrown balls. Shore up the O-Line and D-Line Work on coverage Could be better; instead it "SHOULD" be better in 2018

  17. Same reason kids go to Sam Houston, Stephan F., Mary Hardin Baylor, Mount Union, James Madison and South Dakota State......You don't get any offers from an FBS conference school because you don't fit the stereotype for whatever position or didn't play against quality opponents because you only went to a 2A or 3A high school in Texas. FCS is filled with LOTS of good football players. NDSU is just like Alabama and other top flight winning schools, winning programs recruit themselves.

  21. The schedule shouldn't be too bad and keeping Fine healthy will go a long way in keeping us near where we ended. The more I think about it, I see us at 3-1 in OOC play, losing at Arky. Then in CUSA East play, assuming its @ODU and here against FAU, I see us splitting those two again, losing to FAU's speed and talent. In CUSA West play, I see us beating Rice, UTEP, USM, and La Tech, but losing at UAB and at UTSA in their Super Bowl. We finish 8-4, 2nd in the West. It will get us an almost-sure bid to the HoD Bowl, which I believe has the CUSA tie-in for next season. I think UAB wins the West next year and plays FAU in the CUSA Championship game, with FAU defensing their title again with their Miami copycat team they are rolling with of uber talented and questionable characters, including both players and coaches.

  24. Kiffin inherited a better team than Littrell. FAU's previous staff was just not getting the most of the roster. The North Texas roster was mismanaged. Littrell is getting the most out of the current roster. Kiffin is also a better recruiter and a quality coach.

  25. Yep, you are one of a few that seems to get it around here. Its ok to realize we started too late in caring even at a half-ass level regarding sports here by about 30 years or more. Had we not given up and dropped to I-aa and stayed there for 12 freaking years, then we are in the AAC or MWC at a minimum today. But we didn’t. And the collection of SBCUSA teams we are aligned with are mostly in the same spot we are. It is what it is. Apogee had to get built so we could have a football program that could play at this level. Paying what we do for a coaching staff is in line with our peers at the lower G5 level. But neither of those aspects of investment by UNT is moving us into another level anytime soon, it is just allowing us to stay where we are and not fall back behind again. Had this been done in the 80s or 90s, things would be different today. But decades of apathy and ignoring the needs of the program allowed budgets to trump winning. And without winning, you aren’t getting any fan or media attention that garners interest from conferences above ours. It is what it is...

  26. And if you read any of my earlier posts on this matter, I would say NCAA top management and sports enforcers are on the Power Leagues payroll too. I suspect a lot of collusion going on.

  27. UCF just finished 6th in the AP poll—even though they are the only unbeaten FBS team. It’s almost as if the entire national media is in the Power Leagues back pocket...oh wait, that’s exactly what I’ve been trying to tell y’all for years. This wont end well because it isn’t supposed to end well for the G5’s. They have no power in legislatures, media, or in the NCAA. They are useful parts for the Power Leagues until they decide to pull that rug back further in the next culling, which will be within the next 7 years when the Big XII dies off.

  28. Exciting last half of the game as the Saints thwart off a Panther comeback. Craig got a lot of camera time and mentions in the first half. I never heard them mention that he went to North Texas, but they did say this was his first time in the playoffs and that he never even went to a bowl game in college.

  38. No one can make anyone be a fan, but I really don't understand your view. If you were a fan in the past, why let a questionable decision to allow Benford an extra year deprive you of seeing the best NT basketball in decades. No the team isn't yet as good as some of Jones' best, but McCasland is a far superior coach than Jones. You are also not likely to see any team consistently play any harder. If you like NT and college basketball, I don't understand a boycott against a program that is currently doing almost everything right. I assume you are not a football fan because you had to quit when Dodge was hired or McCarney given an contract extension. Both of those bad decisions dwarf how many years Benford was allowed. Even worse was the hiring of RV and allowing him a 15 year career with NT.

  40. When the board ops folks had to add functionality to automatically detect/change the word 'quit' to something else (can't remember what that other word was now) in every post for a while do to your quitting on the team, your name shouldn't get to be mentioned in comparisons like this....IMPO. Now the fact that both technically transferred out of here is an interesting problem here. Were they both "quitters"? We give Riley a pass and consider him an alum since most gave him an out after his Dad was fired.

  43. The NFL drafts guys every year from all levels of college football in various rounds. If you can play (with size and speed) you will be drafted. Mason Fine will NOT be drafted regardless of his stats.

  44. In your own words, Dodge assembled the talent that won the 2013 Heart of Dallas bowl. So we can't argue that it was players. And what do we call it when teams with talent on par with their peers CONSISTENTLY lose close games? Repeat after me folks...coaching.* *I'm amazed I have to repetedly explain that a coach with a 13% winning percentage was garbage
