MGB: Chris Jones talks about move to ASU

Recommended Posts

"I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do."

You weren't the only one, Chris. As someone who watched year one Benford from the second row behind the home bench, I don't think anyone knew what Benford was trying to do.

Sadly, if they were honest, Benford and RV would issue this same exact quote (Benford in reference to coaching, RV in reference to Benford).

I admit that I am keeping an ear to all the negativity... and my bias says that I want a new coach.

But, with all that said, who can hear this and not have a problem with this... That your starting PG for the past two years, the one that touches the ball more than anyone else, doesn't feel they have good direction and purpose from their HC?

Yep, and if anyone that knows basketball has been watching the last 2 years, what Jones says just affirms what has been seen in the court.

But CJ was a cancer, don't you know, just like TM, PJ, and all the other players about which disgusting rumors have been circulated.

I'll lead the parade when RV finally stops lying to us and fires Benford in year 4 of his 5 year contract.

Until then, expect more player blame and vague "if you only knew what was going on inside the program" quotes from RV.

Oh, and a weak ass schedule next year, fo sure.

Sounds like RV is using stronger language than ever before:

“We are excited about the kids he is bringing in,” Villarreal said of Benford. “But there is no doubt that in his third year, regardless of being in Conference USA, we have to play better.”

That's almost an ultimatum.

Almost.

It will get stronger after next year without action. There is plenty of precedent for what is happening, don't ya know. Edited by UNT90

If he transferred to say UTA, a team we would play or say a sunbelt team I would have had an issue cheering him in haha. We will never play him so it's easy to cheer him on and UNT :)

well... he transferred to a lower level of college ball... so with Benford's scheduling tactics... it sounds like there is a GREAT chance we could play him
