Student Spirit

So today I go eat at a restaurant just in the out skirts of campus and I see 2 things that bother. One guy had an OU hat and shirt and another guy had a Texas Tech shirt. They both had backpacks and textbooks. Why do we have this problem still? I was hearing that campus is getting greener with our student spirit. Why are we still dealing with this... You're a North Texas Mean Green student. Not a band wagon T-shirt fan.....

I should of, I was thinking about telling them the bookstore has 50% UNT apparel today. Don't know why I held myself back tbh.

One time I saw a guy who was more worried about looking fratty (he was wearing red) then wearing green to a football game. I got me and my friends to start yelling y'all are going to get your a** kicked today. And saying stuff like welcome to the nest. We were playing La La and he felt pretty dumb when he said he is a student at unt. A lot of times they dress like its Easter Sunday and I make sure to wish them luck in their Easter egg hunt.

Did he have khaki shorts, sperry shoes, and those neon framed sun glasses too? Kind of like a American Eagle model? Haha.. Yeah, at least wear anything but the other teams color at a UNT game. Red is not even remotely close to green...

People DONT say anything. That's why it persists. If they were ridiculed by people for wearing that crap they wouldn't do it, just to avoid being bothered all day. But people don't. People think it, but won't say it. That's the problem. I'm sure most on this board will say they would, but nobody on campus actually does.

It has gotten a lot better in the last 5 years. I remember when almost no one wore green at tailgate. Now most guys are rocking the nike polos and going into the games but its still not where it needs to be. But I agree, if more people called them out they would think twice before they dressed for tailgate and the game.

My favorite thing to do when I see a person wearing an alien t-shirt is to ask, "when were you at Tech ?" Usually they reply that their dad or girlfriend or brother went there. I remind them that we (NT) needs them more than OU or Notre Dame.

Whenever I see this and yes it is often, I almost always say something if I know they are students. Hell I call out T shirt fans I know all the time.

It happens everywhere. I work on the UT campus quite a bit. I see tshirts from all different schools. Even A&M. Take it in stride. The more important question is if we are seeing more NT apparel on campus. You will ALWAYS see other schools represented.

I know they're rare, but I've seen some grad students that wear apparel of the school they attended for their undergrad.

It's tough to fault those guys, although it would be nice to see them support their current school.

I know other universities have a t-shirt burn. You bring a t-shirt of another university burn it and they give you one.
