Being that hes already up in Denton, I assume he is probably already involved in condtioning and enrolled in some Summer School. So there's a chance that his free ride may have already begun so greyshirting would be out.

I don't know Roderick's financial situation, but I do know that he came from Oak Cliff Life School.

Usually folks in Oak Cliff (non-Kessler Park residents) are not financially stable enough to tote a semester's worth of education out of pocket. Just redshirt him and keep him on scholarship. I have a feeling Roderick will pay off in the future.
