and it wouldn't be deserved. crappy sun belt play, bad rpi, down year in the belt, and lost in the final to a team they should have beat. next year will be great. this team was wonderful and took us for a great ass ride!

Why would we wanna go to the Not In Tournament??? Its like getting a ribbon for last place in field day

Why do yeams wanna play in low rung bowl games. Playing in the NIT is still an honor. To be in one of the non paying your way in tourneys (like the CBI or CIT) you have to be among the top 30% or so of the country. There are 345 basketball playing D1 schools with 100 spots available.

Major college football has 120 teams and something like 35 Bowl games.

Playing in the NIT is more prestigious than playing in roughly the bottom half of all the Bowl games -- but we would still love to play in any of those.

There is logistical value in continuing play, regardless of post-season tourney. The team gets additional practices, the program gets on TV. And whether you believe it or now, there are people out there (CMJ being an example) that watch them. Ask Dayton if the NIT doesn't matter.

Stop pooeing on a postseason tourney because it is not what you like. Sure, any team would be disappointed to miss the NCAA by 1 point. Likewise any team - especially seniors - would revel in the chance to continue playing basketball with his best friends. Surely you can identify with that?

I was never part of any athletic organization that forfeited an opportunity to play in the post season because it wasn't for the biggest prize. Why is this attitude seemingly so prevalent on message boards?

Not that NT would even be a consideration, but NT wouldn't even benefit much from inclusion. NIT is a great way to help develop next years team, but NT having only three underclassmen Edwards , Knox, and Hogans currently active, it would be of little benefit as a development tool especially considering Hogans and Edwards are both in more need of r & r and perhaps surgery than playing experience.

North Texas would benefit from raising their profile. People are starting to recognize North Texas as a good mid-major program. It would be something to show recruits. I agree that the team wouldn't improve like some teams that use a NIT run to launch a successful run the next year. I'd love North Texas to get to the point that they are a NIT at large team (I'd love NCAA but sometimes upsets happen in conference tournament or god forbid there are a few really good teams in the Belt in a given season - you can't always go to the NCAA even if you are good).

Who won the NIT last year???? No one cares about it, you play to go dancing

Dayton.

You don't find any value in being invited to the NIT while TCU, SMU, and our conference foes, outside of FAU and UALR, are not playing. The metroplex stations would cover our games giving us valuable playing time and exposure.
