Interesting thoughts on this article...It seems that Brayle Brown did not show any interest in NT per.Rivals and Scout.com which do not show any interest nor offers by UNT . I guess I could take any QB that has or commits in the future to another school and doesn't show an interest in NT losing a QB battle.

This makes me wonder the motive of the article. I do show 5 QB that have an NT offer each still listing offers by UNT.

Todd Berry has good ties into Oklahoma as well, having grown up there (Miami), played there (at Tulsa), and coached there (OSU and Tulsa). He's a good coach; doing much better than I thought he would right out of the gate at ULM.

Although, it's not like Charlie Weatherbie left that place in bad shape. I mean, how to you knock a guy who won, and won bowl games, at Utah State and Navy, as well as leading ULM to 6-6 records two of his last three seasons. At 4-4 currently, Berry has them about where they'd have been under Weatherbie again anyway.

Still, I'd rather see us hiring a guy who is competing for MWC/C-USA level talent or better. Not to knock this kid or any other, but I hope we are soon in recruiting battles with TCU, Baylor, Tulsa, Houston, Kansas, Iowa State and the like.

No offense but I think we can deal with the fact that this won't be the face of our QB. Agree with above....if ULM was our competition that he chose then by all means...let him be a Warhawk.

There's nothing worse than the combination of dumb face and open mouth syndrome. We just dodged a real bullet.

He attended a UNT camp over the summer.

I don't think UNT offered or that he was high on the wish list, but the point is, this team has to have two quarterbacks in its next class and a lot of them are coming off the board and coming off the board quickly.

I wonder why anyone is concerned with recruiting at this point. No one with many other options is going to commit to NT until a new coach is signed. I would be leery about anyone who committed to NT now. About all that can be done, is for Canales and staff to keep in contact with the better recruits in hopes that they can be signed if Canales gets the job. Historically, most NT recruits are committed late in the process; so I don't think a whole lot is lost with this coaching change particularly if a new coach is signed before season end. In fact, I believe the new coach whoever he is will be able to do substantially better than NT has done the past two years.

As an aside; I have always like ULM; they do a whole lot with very little. They were our big rival in the SL and deserve sympathy for being that close to La Tech and their delusional fans.

I'm not that worried about the QB spot. I think that will take care of itself. I am more concerned about recruiting some on defense and some big, fast O-Line guys. I hope to see a defensive coordinator who is a recruiter and will work hard to help bring quality defensive players to the Mean Green. If UNT can "upgrade" the defense and the O-line, the winning should start sooner than later. But, of course, i state the obvious. Love the fact that Canales is on the recruiting trail.

GO MEAN GREEN!
