Uh Oh! Memphis Only Expected To Buy 3,000 Tickets

Sorry folks...this is not that good of a match up as far as ticket sales are concerned. Memphis is not a "draw" and like SUMG says...or at least indicates...Memphis has a "basketball" state of mind. So, knowing that...did the NO Bowl have to invite them? Does anyone know the "rules" for this bowl????

I was really disappointed with Memphis being selected. Seems like there were other C-USA schools that would have been a better draw. I think the NO Bowl jumped the gun. Would have been much better to grab a UH or someone else whose fans would be excited to travel to NO. Houston is an easy drive.

That being said, they may have invited them and they declined.

The only thing in our favor is that I doubt that the NCAA would ever decertify the ONLY bowl which the Sun Belt has a tie in to.

And don't expect New Orleans to buy any tickets. They never do, and this year they have both the Sugar Bowl and BCS championship game in town. So this year, the NO Bowl is even uglier of a stepchild.

How do these thoughts play into the Sunbelt adding another bowl game? Who will play in it? The farther down the line you go the less people will be intrested to see it, then the press has a field day poopooing it. NT always took a good crowd to NO but if the other team doesn't you can't make any money anyway.

As bad as it is going to be, the NO Bowl still might have more folks than the Hawaii Bowl!

Some locals in Honolulu will attend the Hawaii Bowl; few if any will in New Orleans with the Sugar and BCS game there too. Hawaii Bowl will have 5 times the amount of real attendance than the N.O. Bowl will.

There is a differnce most of the locals won't be able to find or afford Sugar Bowl or BCS tickets so if the really wanna see some football the NO Bowl is there for them.
