Growing up in Dallas as the son of UT grad I bleed orange for the first 18 years of my life. I only applied to three schools, UNT, UT and at the time SWTS(dad moved to SA) so my first pick and one close to each parent. UT accepted me on probation requiring I attend summer school while the other two had open arms so not wanting to give up my first summer of freedom I chose North Texas over swts because of D1 football. At the time the plan was to stay a couple years and transfer to Austin but after just a couple weeks I knew I’d never leave. Starting here in 1999 there were some tough times but some really great times in New Orleans 4 bowl and a NCAA tourney made it all worth it. The bowls may have been why I had to leave school for a while to grow up before coming back to finish up in ‘08. The dodge era may have tested my sanity but after being a cowboys season ticket holder at 8 years old in 1989 I think I can live through anything. Here it is 14 years after first spilling green blood I missed maybe half a dozen games since and made several road trips and couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. We’ve made the turn again I just can’t wait to see where the ride take me next GO MEAN GREEN.

I don’t think there is any doubt that Brelan will get a good shot and catch on with someone next year but getting drafted may be tough at his size. His stock is rising an all American selection is possible and a good 40 time could make it happen for him. But rather it’s him, Orr or somebody else this program has to get somebody drafted this year preferably a couple guys. The 9yr drought of bowl games and winning streaks isn’t the only monkey we need to shake. It’s been 10 years since Cody Spencer was taken in the 6th round and that can’t happen if we ever hope to start getting better talent to come play at North Texas. Will we ever be Texas or Alabama ect with 10 plus picks no but if you want to recruit you have to be able to show a kid we can get you the NFL if they work hard enough. We have only had 5 players drafted in the last 30 years a lot of d2 schools have more than that if we ever want to take the next step that has to change. Take nothing away from Patrick, Lance and Craig we need gritty guys like that who fight their way on to NFL rosters but we need to hear this programs name on a regular basis on draft day to start bringing in more talent. I think between Brelan the o-line and the linebackers we have a good shot at ending that streak this year or next if so we have to make it a trend and get someone picked at least every year or two.

Really!! Don't count guy who knows how to coach out. Is UTSA Miami no but knowing how to win is knowing how to win. Is smut, Kansas no but I bet Larry Brown wins some games. Coker is building a program from scratch and doing a pretty good job very quickly, should we win in November yes but if we look past them to Tulsa we could be in for a big upset.

Like everyone after 10 year drought I’ll take anything. Even with 4 previous bowl games and a tourney trip it’s still been 6 years since I’ve seen NT play in nawlins. Let’s look at the other options. Liberty Bowl – Memphis, Cool city but same distance and not better than new Orleans. Hawai’I Bowl – Best trip for the team but I’m sure most people here can’t do a last trip on Christmas Eve. Armed Forces Bowl – Fort Worth, Cheap day trip great turnout but come on I want to get out of town. Beef ‘O’ Bradys Bowl – St. Petes, The name alone pisses me off but fun city and Florida in December would be nice. Military Bowl – DC, I love DC but it’s far expensive and it’s RFK in December New Orleans Bowl, Close enough cheap enough and we all know the city. ANY BCS BOWL – Not gonna happen but if so ignore everything above I’m in. New Orleans wins hands down it may be the sixth option which also makes it the most realistic for our first year in the conference.

I'd like to see Tech come here but now that they are playing Baylor in Arlington and every other year in Fort Worth I don't see them coming to Denton again anytime soon.

It's amazing how all of our food prices have increased by 200% or more yet inflation is at 2-3%. It's incredible how they can ignore everyday item in calculating that. Kinda like saying the unemployment rate went down because people quit looking for work.

That game Tuesday was the best offensive performance most of us will ever see. I’ve seen a lot of baseball in my day and I’ll qualify this by saying I never saw Ruth, Mays or Mantle. I’ve said it since 2008 JOSH HAMILTON is the best player I’ve ever seen play the game. He is the quintessential 5 tool player he does things I’ve never seen a player do. The only players in recent history I could even consider comparing would be Griffey.

Are you on crack a 3 year starter and leading scorer at d1 program being expendable? Do I want Durley yes but do I give up the impact Patton should have no.

I'm sure there are plenty of parents in Texas who would consider doing the same thing before letting there kid go to aTm or _____ fill in the blank. You just don't do it nothing explains stealing a day and causing that kind of problem for your kid.

I personally think most composers are happy whenever anything they write gets played over and over. Regardless of what else you life that alma mater lives on what more can you ask as an artist.

I didn't look in to it until now but bleecherreports is a national page but anyone can post articles. This one was writen by Ryan Metcalf who appears to have a little bias but who cares still a good write up. Ryan's bio I'm just a big sports fan who is going to graduate in a couple years from North Texas. I plan on getting into the sports broadcasting industry in one or another. I am a sports anchor and broadcaster at kntu 88.1 in the Dallas Ft. Worth region.(It is the University of North Texas student radio station). I am currently broadcasting sports news at 5:40p during the week and help out during high school broadcasts as well.
