Rauschenberg Named AAC Special Teams Player of the Week

DENTON, Texas – After a fantastic performance going 4-for-4 on field goals, including kicking the game-winner in the final 10 seconds against LA Tech, senior kicker Noah Rauschenberg was named The American Special Teams Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Rauschenberg becomes the first player in program history to earn AAC honors after UNT joined the league for the 2023-24 academic year.

In addition to going 4-for-4 on FGs, he also finished 4-for-4 on extra points to remain perfect on the year in both field goals and extra points. He is one of just two AAC kickers to not miss a kick this season.

With his performance, Rauschenberg became the first UNT player to make four field goals in the same game since Ethan Mooney against Middle Tennessee on Oct. 19, 2019.

Along with Rauschenberg’s honor, junior running back Ayo Adeyi landed on the AAC Honor Roll after finishing the contest with 148 yards on 19 carries and a pair of touchdowns against the Bulldogs.

UNT returns to action Saturday, Sept. 30 when they host Abilene Christian. Tickets for the contest can be purchased here.

I’ve always been impressed how North Texas can bring in excellent kickers year after year, coach after coach.  Congratulations to Noah.

Well deserved.  This young man could easily end up in the NFL.  Noted during the game that those terrible announcers stated that he has hit from 60+ indoors.

How is it that he ended up choosing UNT? Seems he could have gone just about anywhere.

Spent four years at Baylor as a kickoff specialist.   Probably knew our offense would provide him with a lot of opportunities

He wanted to be the main placekicker. We said he could. I'm sure there were plenty others that took a look at him but wanted him only for kickoffs

And yet that terrible color commentator said he had an issue with consistency.

You could tell that Lyn Rollins had access to the 50% field goal figure but not the fact it was two out of four career attempts.

It was nice of La Tech to support remote work by allowing Rollins to phone it in.
