Brandon Jenkins
Brandon JenkinsRECRUIITNG ANALYST

Mason is a late bloomer whose best basketball is ahead of him. He brings great size to the swingman position along with length and decent athletic ability. He is a fundamentally sound prospect who produces with substance over style. He is a capable three-level scorer who tends to find his offense within the flow of a system. His best basketball is played when he reads a defense instinctually and is aggressive in finding efficient opportunities on the floor. There have been times where he has forced the issue on offense but gaining maturity through learning the nuances of the college game should eliminate his tendency of forcing any issue offensively. Defensively, he has all the tools to be successful with his intangibles. He brings a lot of upside as a reliable off-ball scorer who has a winning track record. He will have to wait his turn before he shines in Denton but Mason will have a strong chance to make a name for himself in the new-look American league during his freshman campaign.

"I really loved the coaching staff," Mason said on his commitment. "The coaches are a big part of why I committed. Coach Hodge and Coach Forte will be able to help me develop and I love their coaching style."

But while much of that production came alongside players like alums Justin McBride and Nikk Williams, Mason has stepped up as the focal point of the Wildcats' attack this season. Committed to North Texas, Mason has thrived as a three-level scorer with a number of 30-plus-point games under his belt to go along with stout rebounding and defense as he attempts to lead Plano to a third straight playoff appearance.
