Click link for full story and stats: https://meangreensports.com/news/2021/2/28/womens-volleyball-mean-green-outlast-utep-in-five-set-thriller.aspx Mean Green beat UTEP in five-set thriller DENTON – The Mean Green volleyball team outlasted UTEP in a thrilling five-set victory (26-24, 21-25, 27-25, 18-25, 15-12) on Sunday afternoon for an important win in the C-USA West Division race. The Mean Green (5-6, 2-3 C-USA) moved a game closer to second place UTEP (4-4, 3-2 C-USA) in the Conference USA West standings. North Texas has now won 11 of the last 13 meetings against UTEP. Head coach Andrew Palileo improved to 9-1 against the Miners and 6-0 at home. "I thought it was a good game," Palileo said. "Both offenses played pretty well, and it was right side [hitters] versus right sides. It was a grind-it-out match, and I'm glad we came out on top." Rhett Robinson put together her best performance of the season, finishing with season-highs in kills (25) and attack percentage (.339). Robinson, the Preseason All-Conference USA selection, said it has been exciting to see how much the Mean Green have improved in the last three weeks. "I thought it was a really good matchup," Robinson said. "Our energy and enthusiasm really carried us today." Up Next: North Texas and UTEP will play again on Monday at 1 p.m. at the North Texas Volleyball Center.

  5. Exactly and yet we still hire a guy who has NEVER held a position whether offense or defense that recruits. Not talking about tweet some kid, actually walked through a coaches office or a kids living room. I'm not blowing air cuz I know someone, (perhaps Oscar Giles though), but there has to be somebody that's held down the position and recruited. Heck maybe reach out to the successful high schools in the area and take a recommendation. But likely in order to get Bennett we were required to take kinfolk. So lets just move on

  6. Back in my day it was done by the campus police upon a request from athletic department personnel (me). I only did the authorization a few times and the AD did it most of the time.

  10. Bennett's philosophy of defense. Well, whilst looking at the updated roster, I noticed this in the overview of Kenneth Dotson (#99 on your program)

  11. The QB position is more crowded than they realized. https://meangreensports.com/sports/football/roster/will-kuehne/5092 Do these people ever do any background research before doing an article?

  12. Every so often something from natures comes out to get us. Maybe it is how it controls our population growth. The last great one was the Spanish Flu, killed 50 million people and there was no vaccine for it. It lasted about 1.5 years before we had herd immunity. You ether died from it or built an immunity to it. I am not saying we should not try to stop it but these things have happened and will continue to happen. We will not get out of this world alive. Part of the numbers are skewed in the since if I have stage 4 cancer and I get covid and died I died from Covid when my days on earth were limited by the cancer. That side I wash my hands and wear a mask in fact covid has helped my exercise program. I have increased my walking steps. I get out of my car walk to the door of where I am going, remember I forgot to put my mask on, go back to the car and back to the door. Take precautions but don't live in fear.

  14. Coronavirus reporting is so heavily swayed by politics, it is very unreliable. For any positive slant, there has to be negatives released. Added to the political influences, now you have to be aware of the tremendous financial implications.

  15. 2 QBs split the time and together they threw 9. Bean being 5, Aune at 4. Together they were a turnover machine. I want 1 QB that doesn't do that. Teams don't win playing QB by committee. Not outside peewee...

  17. The world is perfect if we make the NCAA Tournament. The world is pretty darn close to perfect if we make the NIT played on our own campus, or even in our Frisco community.

  19. Some notable stats: UNT is currently 19th in NCAA in FG% shooting (0.492) and tied for 29th in 3PT% (0.379). I thought it was interesting that we are not anywhere in the T40 in any team defensive statistics. That is what I thought we were exceptional at...team defense.

  24. Just simple things like cleaning up turnovers would make us a team that could win 3 games in 3 days. The inexperience on the bench is the most concerning, but these guys are equipped to win the whole thing.

  26. There's an old hunchback that lives up there. All kidding aside, they should eventually change the tower lighting to incredibly bright LEDs, and have a remotely operated timer that someone in the AD triggers after every victory. The new top of the Super Pit should also be covered with LEDs. That place is DARK, and there is no way of even knowing that an event is taking place.

  28. Who did you have in mind and how do you know the “daughter’s future husband” can’t recruit? Could Joel Filani recruit before he came to NT? What about Graham Harrelll or Patrick Cobbs? There are people on this board that would be ecstatic if Brandon Kennedy was named the Dline coach and he has zero coaching or recruiting experience. Unless you have a guy that is a can’t miss that we knowingly turned down, then you are just blowing hot air. Outside of LeBlanc who was hired away, which Dline coach of the Seth era would you rather have back than giving Passwaters (who probably has PB educating him on the daily) a chance?

  32. The past few days the averages of both infections and deaths have started to nose back up. Using the worldometer figures the seven day rolling for infections average bottomed out on February 21st with 69,235. Using the same standard the death number bottomed out as 1961 on February 20th. The numbers were at 70,225 and 2126 yesterday. Whether the inching up is a blip or a the start of a new trend, it's too early to say obviously. Nonetheless it has me a tad concerned.

  33. i think the playing of the anthem before every sporting even is old and antiquated, just like saying the pledge to the usa and texas is every day at school. the kids just stand there, people in the stadium just stand there, still walking/talking and doing whatever. it will never be a 100% thing, so i don't see the point in doing it anymore....maybe championship games/bowl games....make it special, not something that is just done because it's always been done.
