  1. Very interesting interview with Wren Baker. Enjoy.... Experts’ Roundtable: Leading Through The Coronavirus With the continuous change and uncertainty that has transpired due to the coronavirus pandemic, AthleticDirectorU sat down with a pair of Athletics Directors to discuss how they are leading their departments, making decisions and effectively communicating to their student-athletes, coaches and staff. What’s your daily routine right now in terms of gathering information, talking to other leaders on your campus & around the nation to determine the next course of action(s)? Wren Baker (Director of Athletics – North Texas): In the span of one day, we’ll be shifting gears based on new and updated information and what we’re learning from state, local and national authorities and at each individual institution. I’m pretty plugged into social media, so I’ll monitor that, especially throughout the evening. And I stay in touch constantly on a group text with a lot of our ADs in the league and then on a group text with ADs outside of our league. I’ll talk to a couple of guys in the American , the Big 12 and/or the SEC just to find out what their experiences are. https://www.athleticdirectoru.com/articles/experts-roundtable-leading-through-covid-19/

  2. WKU has the brand to bring in one or two extremely high profile recruits. Maybe not every season but it sure seems like it. But, you know.... 78-72 and all. 🤣

  3. guys... things are going really well.. .i just completed the 2021 season on NCAA 13... as an update, we moved to the Big 12 in 2020, and although the first two years have not produced a national championship, we have won the Rose Bowl... the flipping longhorns beat us last year though... we just fell behind early and couldn't make up the deficit. although there was a lot of pressure on me as the head coach, i decided to go ahead and sign a contract extension over the next 4 years to stay in Denton.

  8. CUSA needs stars who can grab national attention. Bassey was going to be that guy this year before getting hurt. The current membership hasn't had a player drafted since our own Tony Mitchell when we were still in the Belt (20130. The last player drafted after playing in CUSA? 2010 - Jerome Jordan (Tulsa) I welcome more talent in the conference but the fact that WKU continues the land these guys w/out really improving their draft stock is...um...interesting.

  10. Yeah, but in my dream Mason Fine threw a sixty-five yard Hail Mary with no time left on the clock to give the Dallas Cowboys a Super Bowl win over the 49ers. The Mean Green beat Alabama for the national championship. I had a date every night of the week with a different Dallas Cowboy cheerleader ! Then the jailer woke us up and emptied out the drunk tank. (Oh by the way, I was in the 82nd Airborne so I think we may suffer from the same dream disorder) ✈️

  11. Last night I dreamed I was attending a Mean Green football game at Apogee Stadium with a full house in attendance. Before the game started, the Army Golden Knights Parachute Team jumped (disclaimer: I was an Army paratrooper, but never close to being a Golden Knight). At the end of the game, we all ran out on the field and were not observing social distancing. So, what does it all mean? That maybe the quarantine was over, and we had defeated the virus? we played Army in a bowl game and beat them? who knows? But it was good to be there once more to see the Mean Green take the field. Okay, off to bed to see what comes next.

  12. Most people are worried about the travel industry and service industries (for good reason), but this is really going to be a killer for hospitals,. All elective procedures (surgeries, etc) are cancelled. Only emergencies are getting scheduled. That means normal money making procedures that fund the rest of the hospital are not happening to balancing out the budget. Paying for the hospital for uninsured ICU patients or patients that will not be able to pay their max out of pocket (when they recover) will lead them to bankruptcy and hospital without a way to pay the bills. It is the equivalent of the MG football team cancelling their season and not collecting the MG scholarships from us donors ... How long do you think softball and soccer could survive?) Already we know some physicians that have their contracts cancelled because they will not be collecting revenue for the next three months at least. It isn't like these physicians can go out and find another gig - since all elective procedures are postponed. So ... what do you do? You lay off your whole staff, you break your lease and close your clinic. I can see a future where a ton of surgery centers, ERs and community hospitals will be shuttering up. I don't see how the surgery center I am invested in will survive two months without revenue. So even in an 'industry' which can 'benefit' from more patients - it has to be the right kind of patient.

  13. There is every kind of museum under the sun and they certainly are not all equal in their importance to society. That said museums are not just leisure and entertainment. The majority of museums primary roll is to educate. As a corollary, you have been giving your hard earned money to the airlines to transport you around this earth, sell you snacks, and charge you for everything else under the sun. When times were good with free cash flow these airlines could have been paying down debt, increasing their cash position, increasing efficiency and investing in all facets of their company thus improving shareholder value AND creating a fiscally stronger company that is better prepared to handle tough economic environments. Instead they only focused on the "shareholder value" part of the sentence and took a shortcut. They did this: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-03-16/u-s-airlines-spent-96-of-free-cash-flow-on-buybacks-chart You get to pay twice for your flights now. Listen it all sucks and is frankly against the American way. But if we are bailing people out I am no more mad about the money to the museums as I am the money to the airlines. This example can be applied to many more companies as well. It just sucks but I suppose is necessary.

  15. Should continue NT soccer dominance. It has always been amazing to me how NT soccer dominates CUSA with almost entirely a team make up of DFW regional players. Most CUSA teams recruit nationally and still seldom challenge NT. For example, FAU the regular season champion has 14 players from Florida out of 24 players. Rice another usual power has 7 Texans on it current roster of 20. Rice has 6 players from Canada. Helund get criticized for not winning in the NCAA tourney, but his record is amazing particularly in view of hiis recruiting almost all local players.

  16. While posting this on twitter seems a bit tone deaf I don't see much reason for outrage. They passed a 2 Trillion dollar rescue package to save the economy and peoples jobs. Much of that money going to for-profit companies that should have cash on hand to weather a storm. (no one could fully prepare their business for this storm). 4 billion to help save the museums and the estimated 100k workers that are are employed directly or indirectly seems like a drop in the bucket and in-line with the spirit of the legislation. Personally, when it comes to government bailouts, I don't like any of it but I will grin and bear it and hope there are no unforeseen consequences further down the road. Still what will make my blood boil is companies getting tax payer money that have been buying back stock for years en lieu of improving their cash position and paying down debt.

  24. I agree that's completely unnecessary, I'm not sure why that means you have perspective and I don't but okay. You are holier than thou I get it. At least I haven't been kicked out of a game for viciously throwing tortillas at rent a cops. Keep in mind I'm not a democrat I'm someone who can see the stupidity on both sides. And I'm joking about the tortillas, I was in the stands when you were wrongfully thrown out lol. I am a Mean green fan first so I will keep from these forums as I know good and dang well I'm not changing any minds, Go mean green.

  26. The $4 Billion was for non-profit museums that raise their own money through private donations for other people’s leisure and entertainment. Asking you and I for $4 Billion dollars for leisure and entertainment is beyond bizarre at this time and is what should make your blood boil. Rick

  31. The Iran-US Claims Tribunal acknowledged this as a debt that we owed. Obama did not voluntarily or willingly handed a bunch of free cash over to a known terrorist country. Maybe Obama could have ignored/delayed it. I think Trump would have just made a circus out of this. He probably wouldn't pay it, but it would be an idiot move. The debt was internationally recognized and would not just disappear. Was there interest on it? I don't know. I voted for Obama, but did not like some of his Presidential moves. Inversly, I am okay with some of Trumps efforts. Right now, I think the entire political environment is a mess. I wish Trump never had a mic again, that he'd just shut up and do his job. His language - unlike Obama - is mostly divisive (IMO). Not a man I would consider full of grace.

  32. So, based on your view, who was the last "Good Person" that was President?
    1 point
  33. I am, yes. They're pretty stigmatized. I mean, It was a very simple question ("Is he a good person?")... but you have your reasons to tap-dance. I don't care why, it's just an observation. I didn't vote for President Obama, and I didn't agree with several of his stances, but I'd feel fine saying he's a good person. Another odd thing about the same kind of person I'm talking about is that for some reason, any kind of criticism of the President Trump is taken personally instead of just a criticism of yet another corrupted, selfish, elected official. No, for some reason, Trump's fans feel the need to defend this scumbag like he's their own son because they put a check next to his name on a ballot one time. That person is not you, is it? I did get a mysterious "-1" just before your post... Would you give a flip if people were saying the same things about Representative Burgess? John Cornyn? I assume you put checks next to their names as well. Face it: President Trump ain't a "good person".

  35. Oh...excellent. Thanks. Still a good idea to make those payments if you can...if interest is stopped...might even make a bigger “hit” on the principal. Since I never had a student loan (nor did any of our kids), not really sure how the repayment works. Thanks for the head’s up here El Paso Eagle.

  36. Well, super...you get tp accrue two months of interest on your current outstanding balance if you skip the two payments. Folks...if you can pay the monthly p[payment...pay it. This is not a good choice if you are not in any financial strain. Just sayin......

  37. This is so hard for Trump’s fans. A lot of them are folks who would never do/say some of the things he’s done/said.... so they’re forced to dodge this very simple question because their truthful answer might make them look hypocritical.

  38. Not sure who's running the account, but someone out there is tweeting a simulation of the 2020 March Madness bracket released by the New York Post on March 16... Regarding NT's Round of 64 matchup with Oregon... Next Up? Kinda depressing but it's all we've got. The imaginary hope of a Sweet 16 showdown with Mr. Woolridge & Co.

  39. I really don't give a flip what people think about any of them because since we don't personally know Obama or Trump, or Burgess or Cornyn, we can only judge them by what the media feeds us. However, I have met Congressman Burgess and he seems like a "nice man." What I care about are the policies they put in place that I feel will benefit me in particular and the country in general. They could all be saints or ass-holes. Who really knows? I have observed that the people who know Trump, seem to like the man. Kanye, Pastor Jeffress, and others who are like minded come to mind. Be that as it may. I guess if you're one of those snowflakes who get their feelings butt hurt because you don't like what someone says, well I guess that pretty much sums it up. If the country gets better trade deals, the average, tax paying Joe gets a tax cut, if our American President puts America first instead of going on a a world wide apology tour, I'm all in on that. What I don't like is a power hungry democratic party, and a complicit press, that will do anything to tear down the country, no matter the cost. Give me someone who puts his money where his mouth is. Not a desperate, retred politician who left brave men to die in Benghazi and then had the audacity to yell, "What difference, at this point, does it make?" That after lying to a mothers face that the whole thing was based on a video. What a disgrace! Give me Trump any day of the week and twice on Sunday. I don't care if he is a "nice man" or not. Give me someone who can get the job done. Got it? Peace. Out.

  40. If you're 60+ and a republican how are you watching this clown show unfold and thinking "Well, I'm probably going to be hospitalized and potentially die but at least the libtards aren't winning?" Now claiming the libtards are blocking the financial bill because they just want to screw the public out of money when I don't think anyone, red or blue can comprehend why on Earth 500 billion dollars to people who don't need it is included? That's common sense, shouldn't be political. Texas Lt Gov last night on Fox news saying grandparents should just go ahead and swallow the sword, get this infection, die, and secure the economy for the younger generation. Pretty easy to say as Lt Gov when you're guaranteed a respirator. Man all of the above has the devils fingerprints all over it and ya'll are complicit in blindly following the spray tan yankee who acts more like the anti christ than someone you want to follow in a time of crisis. Remember when they asked Trump what his favorite bible verse was in 2015? He couldn't recite one. Not one. I can vividly remember people claiming Obama was the anti christ, I wonder what caused that? His actions and words or skin color? yeah the latter, and nothing more. Keep supporting the spray tan yankee people, he really cares about us southern folk. To beat this all we gotta do is grab it by the pussy as our great christian leader once said.

  46. But both of those examples seem political, and not testimonies of his character. Again, there are tons of political reasons I'm not a fan of President Obama, but he seems to be a good person. Not a perfect person, no one is, but someone I could at least trust to not purposefully inflame an already fragile relationship with a cold rival by referring to a global pandemic as "The Chinese Flu" or "Kung Flu". How sorry is that? Let's not even bring up where he likes to grab unwitting females, or the very odd comments about his own daughter that 99.99999999% of fathers would never even think, let alone say.
