Didn't you post before last football season that you would not go to the SMU game because we would lose? Will you go next season? Don't worry about what others do, just show up! By the way I know many residents of Denton County that graduated from UT, OU, A&M, KSU, SMU, TCU, Texas State, etc. who have Club Seats at Apogee.6 points

Hmm. AAC leadership apparently has friends in high places, but I'm legitimately wondering if that conference has figured it out.... to the point that even after Texas/OU/OSU/Kansas leave the Big12, schools like Houston & SMU won't want to join up with the Big 12 leftovers, rather staying with the AAC. If NT can keep up momentum better than we have (football & basketball), we can position ourselves nicely to fit with the Big12 leftovers if SMU decides to stick with the AAC. Also, pretty please can we get rid of McCleod & bring in someone who can run a conference? C-USA has done nothing but backslide under her leadership.6 points

FML. We are in a vicious cycle of irrelevance. And this absolute dumpster fire of a conference commissioner is a disgrace. She has done nothing - nada - zilch.5 points

Fine- came in as a freshman at 167lbs he is now 191lbs ( shout out to coach Zach and staff) Bean May be the fastest guy on the team. Austin is looking good, won’t be much difference between 2-3. Most if not all freshmen are in camp. GMG4 points

I love super ambiguous practice updates "So I watched practice today. They threw the ball, sometimes they kicked the ball, and they kept tackling each other. Stay tuned for more updates"4 points

If CUSA is going to level the financial playing field, it's got to start on the gridiron. We've got two shots in 2019 to do our part... Saturday, Sept 7 - at SMU Saturday, Sept 28 - vs HOU4 points

Hell, hasn't he always? The only difference is now he's not in pads.3 points

To early to tell. Bean still looks really thin. I also notice the tight ends are working a lot on routes and pass catching3 points

Good for the AAC. Look, they will never be P5 (IMO) In the next round of shuffling the top teams (UCF, Memphis, UH, and Cinci) are looking to find new homes in a revised P4 world.3 points

Holgorsen? Can SMU, Tulsa Tulane ever be a UCF UH or a Memphis? I don’t think so. Denton and surrounding counties are booming and will not be recognizable in 5-10 years. We have to get them involved in UNT! A big plus for us! GMG3 points

There is only one conference that we could even remotely have a chance to go into that is above us currently and that is the MWC. Who knows if they’d even consider us, but the overwhelming response on gmg.com is never to go there since it’s time zones away and stuff and the newspapers that you people used to read physically won’t have a game story on Sunday morning, which just holds your program back, since apparently these folks believe the MWC is the EXACT SAME as the old Big West. @MeanGreenTexan knows my frustration about this—as we are in the vast minority of our fans on this subject.2 points

This is what sets AAC as the closest to a P6. But we just need to keep getting better in every sport the rest will take care of it self.2 points

This conference as it stands continues to not get any sort of credibility with the powers that be. I think this conference is much better at basketball, men’s and women’s, than anything else. Yet here we sit with another one bid. Don’t know what the deal is.2 points

The more I have sat on this today, the more frustrated I have gotten... We get what, $400k from TV contracts, and they will be getting millions? I know a lot of those schools are way ahead of us... but some are not. That fact alone makes me the most angry. I hope Wren jumps at the first chance we get at a stronger conference, whatever it may be... bc this is tough.1 point

Maybe they see that the Rice team is powered by an average center who happens to be 6'9".1 point

I think the AAC schools and the MWC schools are in decent shape when a P4 reality happens. They will probably stay connected to the P4s in a bowl slot, but the rest of us are on some seriously shaky ground. I think the culling of FBS will start then.1 point

It will never happen. We’ll see the big boys break off after the 8 team playoff fills their pockets even more with money.1 point

Absolutely, the AAC has some great programs but name alone isn't anything in the G5 anymore. Just ask UCF or Boise - it's winning and potential. We need to recognize the entirety of the G5 for what it is - a collection of programs equally screwed, yet insist on eating each other instead of fixing the problem. Local rivalries, away games which people can get to, names that people know regionally if not nationally - those are the way forward for now. Mountain to Belt, everyone needs to have a come to Jesus about that with the exception of the MAC, which is a stable conference for a reason. The P4 need realignment. The G5 need implosion. The future of the market presages the outcome. What can UNT do to prepare for the future - very little, we're in pretty good shape. The only thing that needs to happen is the replacement of our Southland game with a Texas State series. But the most important task is keeping our series with Houston and SMU. It's no coincidence that Wren extended SMU and scheduled Houston, and it's good news that they seem happy to play us every year.1 point

The AAC has nice pieces that are filler content in the three major sports. Don’t forget UConn’s women’s team is popular in the NE. The AAC and the MWC have a lot of solid names for revenue sports. The lower G5’s dont. I believe the path forward is the SBCUSA reorganizing regionally to lower costs and increase gate revenue to make up the $$$ differences that the Upper G5’s have. It’s really the only path forward. When the Big XII implodes, the leftovers are going to have to either join somewhere or bring others back in, like the Big East becoming the AAC and lowering down to G5 status. My guess is the AAC adds in Iowa Stare and Kansas State, the MWC adds in Baylor and TCU, and the SBCUSA realigns.1 point

Didn’t Tyreke play the Nickle spot? Not a full-fledged Free/Strong Safety. We have some awesome DB guys coming in & coming off redshirts. So it shouldn’t be too hard to find a replacement for him at Nickle. But those two LB spots (not Jack) need a lot of help/depth.1 point

SMU probably can't build that kind of program but they've proven that they're willing to pay coaches although with less than stellar results1 point

Can someone remind me what our current media deals brings us? Something like $23 and a carton of expired skim milk?1 point

Why? I really enjoy our games being exclusively shown on ESPN 8 The Ocho.1 point

How many CUSA women’s teams got into the NCAAs? Just curious because I really don’t know.1 point

Well considering CUSA has 5 women’s teams in the NIT I can’t see how they saw the conference as that bad...1 point

How about recruiting the best guys you can get (priority to bigs) and stop trying to peg them into a system (small ball) that has not worked in this conference and later on in the year; when shots aren't falling. Let's see if the coach can coach and recruit. The 2018 class was a complete bust. Good luck with trying to get a coach to run off his own guys 1 year after they signed. (although needed)1 point

Yes... a lot of our facilities are seriously lacking. I would rather see those be brought up to snuff before adding another money drain. Like i would really like to have a football locker room that rivaled at least FAU Also, just asking the question... would you rather see a new basketball/volleyball arena before we got a baseball stadium.1 point
