Hello again, it's Matthew Brune here asking for your questions regarding the football team for our pre game show this week. The Mean Green take on Southern Miss and your questions can either be about the game or the team in general or a specific player or stat you wanted our opinion on. We'll be filming this tomorrow morning, sorry for the late notice, but send in the questions and we'll be sure to send the link in here and give you all credit for the questions. Thank y'all in advance. -MB5 points

Why do we always feel compelled to explain away or come up with some excuse for our wins? I just don't get it. We have got to be the most neurotic fan base in college football. Isn't it possible that we were simply the better team on the field that day or doesn't that ever enter the equation?5 points

1/3 of the way through this season Fine has thrown for over 1,000 yards, 9 touchdowns, and 3 INTs. If he can keep up this pace, Fine would finish with over 3,000 yards and post 27 touchdowns, with only 9 INTs. I didn't get the SMU prediction right, but Fine is off to a great start this season.4 points

UNT has not seen a defense like So. Miss yet......ahhhhh, did they forget Iowa? Iowa basically held the #4 team in CF to a draw last week. They D'd up against Penn St pretty well. UNT looked, not so bad against that same D. If this is how So. Miss is looking at UNT as an opponent, I like our chances..... #GOMEANGRENN4 points

I get it. When we win, it's just dumb luck or the football gods chose to smile on UNT for once. When we lose, the other team has better athletes, better coaches or is just a "year ahead" of us. Last time I checked turnovers are part of the game as are injuries, backup players, bad officiating, weather and funky bounces of the ball. Our backup QB was better than their backup QB that game. In other words, we had more depth at a critical position than USM did. That usually makes one team better than the other not luckier. Our backup RB was just as productive as their starting RB. Morris also threw an INT and we lost 2 of our three fumbles. USM lost 1 fumble, so it's not like we dominated the turnover battle. We scored more points, we won.4 points

There is no game on our schedule where we don't have a good chance to win. This team has bought in and believes in themselves and it was apparent when we played Iowa. I said this before the SMU game and I'll say it again as a challenge to this team. You want attention and more fans at games? Then you go out there and win games that you're not "expected" to win.4 points

Never heard of BEIN until last year. Face it people, we need to be on one of the ESPN or CBS Sports Networks. And I don't mean ESPN3. The CUSA Commissioner needs to do something in getting Conference games telecast on real TV.2 points

Remember that Tuaalo, Young, and English were all over 300 pounds last year and were told to lose weight. Apparently, this is the right size for what we are trying to do on the Dline.2 points

I am wondering if they don't give them each a series or two and go with the player playing the best. IMO both starters have done some good stuff this year and both gotten burned badly this year. It is 100% not focusing on their technique and looking where they aren't suppose to. With D1 speed, scratch that HS kids, if they look in the wrong spot it is 6 points out there on the island they are on.2 points

Yeah if Brooks starts over him I think that's pretty dumb. Seth Littrell says "the tape doesn't lie" all the damn time. I'm curious as to what tape he's looking at.2 points

So, Eric Jenkins goes in and does his job to perfection and is still the back up. Hmmmm2 points

"But as much success as North Texas has had this year on offense, it hasn't had to go against a defense like Southern Miss' yet." I would think Iowa might have something to say about that. And I would also say as much success as Southern Miss has had on defense, it hasn't had to go against an offense like North Texas' yet....2 points

Denton QB will be very very good in two years. Kid scrambles but looks to throw and can run as well. He gave us fits.2 points

Also, what are some selling points pros/cons that should/shouldn't be used on recruits.. What makes UNT attractive, and what is in the future in terms of potential selling points.. and what needs to be improved besides the play in the field2 points

Where will the video be? nTTV? If it's going to be on NTTV, input from others on how to increase attendance, we have had multiple threads about what some students/alumni would wanna see done.. Another thing to discuss is about the QB situation with It only being Quinn, Fine, and Pearson now.. Best case and worst case scenarios2 points

Looking at his Facebook page, apparently he's a UTSA fan. He's talking about the fact that UTSA begins conference play next week against USM in San Antonio and then they come to North Texas. Not sure why he apologized.2 points

I don't think some people understand that recruiting is a game of averages. neither side is going to prove anything using a singular recruit or game as an argument. I really like our staff as x-and-os guys. I honestly believe if we can sign a CUSA top 3 class, we can compete for championships. Having said that, I think we will never get over the hump if we continue to haul in a class that is the bottom among our peers.2 points

Sorry, but this is such B.S. How about preparation putting us in the position to win that game? Turnovers happen in every game. UAB wasn't in Saturday's game because of luck. They were in the game because they took advantage of what our defense gave them, which was way too much. Luck? Hail Mary Multiple laterals to win a game Those I would consider lucky.2 points

I did a lot of work when I was a student (#hit30k and @FillApogee) but it was all grassroots and I gave it away when I graduated. Now the kid who runs it just cares about parties. 2013’s student section was electric and wild, haven’t seen anything close in a while.2 points

The ultimate insult happened in 1968 when the Mean Green Eagles traveled to Las Cruces, New Mexico to play the New Mexico State Aggies. There was a huge sign hung on the stadium railing that said 'Beat the Buffaloes'...they did not even know who they were playing...had us mixed up with West Texas State. By the way, it ended in a tie.2 points

I would not expect much clamoring for him if he only goes 6-6 as the article suggests. If he happens to go 8-4, or better, and gets poached, then by all means! On to bigger/better for him, while UNT pockets a sizeable buyout to turn around and pay another hungry coach who sees UNT as a great spot to move up.2 points

Since we don't normally play people that most casual football fans care about, especially college kids that have plenty of things to do on a Saturday, this is always going to be a challenge. As someone mentioned earlier, the Thursday night game appeals to the student body since its not cutting in on their weekends. This isn't a North Texas problem, its a G5 problem, especially if you aren't winning much against programs people care about. Let's face it, we have beaten Lamar and UAB this season, while getting skull-crushed by SMU and pretty much driven into the ground in the 2nd half by Iowa. These kids know SMU and Iowa. They don't know or care about UAB. When we play UTSA next at home, it'll be interesting to see how attendance is for that game, especially if we do lose on the road at USM. UTSA will probably bring a decent crowd with them, so if the students aren't there, it'll make it that much worse. But I don't get the feeling that the strong majority of Denton or UNT students cares much about UTSA the way we do on gmg.com--and its not even close compared to how UTSA feels towards us. We are their SMU game, their game that they use to show their fans and alumni that they are moving up the college football landscape here in Texas at a rapid-fire pace.1 point

If Brooks stops biting on the double move, then we're in a much better situation.1 point

Actually yes. When you're slanting and stunting every down and you don't have quicker linemen, you're gonna get exposed. We may be lighter, but we've been playing run much better this year than last.1 point

Defensive improvement against the run has been encouraging, but long pass plays have hurt. What's the solution?1 point

Agree. He has a lot of speed, and given this body size (6'4" X 225) he has a lot of potential to develop into an impact player at LB. It is too bad that he didn't work out at QB, but considering he couldn't hit the side of a barn with a football............1 point

We are a wealthy nation in general ..... however our government debt since 2001 has gone from less than $6 trillion to about $20 trillion.... mostly because of all the tax cuts to the super wealthy (not so much to average and even above average income people) by Congress.. I know this isn't exact but about 90% of the cut went into the top 10% of income people. We all know which party has controlled Congress (who passes legislation) since 2000 almost all the time . The $6 trillion figure was the result of 210 years (since 1790) and the remaining $14 trillion in less than 17 years. They have not been financial conservatives as claimed.
