  1. Right? What a jerk this kid must be for taking his time with such a life-altering decision. Clearly he's only thinking about himself, his family and what's best for both when in reality he ought to be much more concerned with what he's doing us.

  3. Perhaps one of the less obvious things to be excited about is Jacob Holmen's senior season. He was absolutely incredible at times during the tournament. If he continues to improve, look out...

  4. You know, there is something rather off-putting to me about this. I guess I'm still stuck back in the days when one of our greatest QB's of all time, Jordan Case, wrote a letter to Hayden Fry asking him for the opportunity to walk on and win a scholarship. To me, Burgland is still in that nebulous category of "great potential" and "great ratings" by (alleged) experts. I seem to recall a highly thought of WR who recently came through our system (wearing #14) that had "great potential". I'm with the (late) great Don Meredith on this "great potential" thing. He used to say that "potential" just meant that you hadn't done anything yet.

  8. Different reports all over this place on this one. Anywhere between $4-13 million per team per year. Honestly, that sounds like a fair range to be in, and regardless of what some would say here, even the lower estimate is a significant upgrade from what we were making in CUSA. We'll see how this goes, this is the first report to really toss out low-ball figures.

  9. If we don't get a safety or INT on every defensive snap, RV needs to be fired and forced to watch 24 straight hours of commercial-free My Little Pony. The pressure is on to win yesterday.

  10. Yep, and with that, comes transition offense. Watch out for some Ringling-brothers-like acrobatics at the Super Pit.

  12. I so agree with you on that! Yes, I am one of the "older guys" who still reads the hard copy edition. I HATE on-line versions of the papers...you have to scroll around, the screens often are not big enough so you fish around and I have found the online versions of many papers are not as complete as the printed versions. My wife likes to use the I-Pad, but for me IT SUCKS. I want to relax in the morning or evening with the paper and a cup of coffee if in the morning and a beer or soft drink if in the evening. I know the fact is that hard copy editions are "going away" and I'll have to change, but I do find that many younger folks have very little idea about the news of the day unless it is not something someone posts on Facebook or some link to some article that someone sends them. The idea that young people in mass read the news on-line is an urban (and rural myth). On-line readers seem to not read the entire paper...all sections...as do most hard copy readers. BUT, the times they are a changin', and soon all the hard copy editions will be gone. Sad, but the handwriting is on the wall, and we will all need to adjust to the "new reality". For me, it will just not be the same....sadly!

  14. NPR to and from work...Facebook and iGoogle feeds while at work. I also think we "younger people" are a more social generation and pertinent topics of the day are oft discussed over beverages at a local or on the front porch after work. That said, I will never not buy (or poach a pre-read copy from my local coffee shop) the Sunday Times.

  17. It seems pretty iffy to me whether or not this move will turn out to be financially worthwhile for smu and Houston, but I suspect their major motivation is in the hope that moving up a peg (or at least a partial peg) will improve their chances of landing a spot in the Big 12 at some point. Of couse they're going to have to quickly win big in the money sports, hope their new conference doesn't fall apart, and regularly fill up their stadiums for there to be much of a chance of this happening. I suspect that is going to be a tall order for SMU in particular. Football only probably would have been their best scenario IMO.

  18. Why can't GL2Greatness have a hard on for Western Governors University of Texas instead of us? He could argue the merits of an online degree. It is the Online University for Texas after all.

  19. I don't think anyone is questioning that, but it ks the manner in which it is being either conducted or portrayed. He appears to be a little self centered in all of this. Hope that is how he is being portrayed.

  25. Alzee is the most underrated player on the team IMO. I don't think he will have big numbers with the team next year but he will be the one of the most consistent players on the team. He can do it all, play defense, drive to the basket, and his outside shoot is improving. A tall guard with great quickness, he saved the team last year playing the point; but should be a better player at the off guard.

  27. I think I am most excited to just see this team get on the court and what the atmosphere will be in the Pit. Everything about this team points to it being extremely fun to watch. Looking forward to that.

  28. I say we should win 7 (Texas Southern, Troy, FAU, Middle Tennessee, South Alabama, ULM, Wester Kentucky) With 3 games that we could win depending on which North Texas team shows up (UH, LL, Arkansas St)

  29. Yes, all of the above..... and we have the athletes to play this style. Transition points, off defense = dunks!

  31. Defense, and the increased tempo. CJ really thrives in an up-tempo game. And since we are still not a great shooting team, those two things should lead to more easy buckets.

  33. 2011 TV Revenues Per Conference http://collegesports...-by-conference/ _____________________________________________________ And this, too. http://www.sportsbus...ights-Fees.aspx GMG! Addendum: I know we all really hope the upcoming CUSA TV rights negotiations go well for us all and maybe even exceed our greatest expectations for each of our schools, but lest we forget whatever North Texas receives in the CUSA package will be about 100% improvement than what we ever received from the SBC. It's a start.

  35. Foster will most likely stay the closest of the 3 , but I think he has BIG XII aspirastions. I can't blame him , he's that good. Williams is a 2013 and he's very solid. Probably not ranked due to a back injury he had last year which forced him to miss a lot of time. I haven't seen Senglin play yet. Will make it a priority to this summer

  36. I figured the Frazier, Foster, Harris triumvirate was likely out of reach...Foster being the most likely to come aboard here. I'd be hip to pulling the point Tasty raved about at GASO...Michael Williams(?)...impressive tape I saw on him, though for some reason he's not listed on the TexasHoops top 121...was he class of '14?

  37. Back-up plan for Marcus Foster? Would Senglin be a better combo guard option than Thomas?

  39. Physically, the kid looks like a player but I have yet to see anything close to a mid major in 2 years. Unless he improves dramatically over the summer, I don't understand the offer. Not the type of talent to upgrade or sustain what we have. Fallen down to 45 on Tx Hoops.

  44. . . . ......at least they think they would have, had there actually been a Championship. My Mean Green got a 10-5 win over the Horned Frogs last night to finish 9-3-1 on the season in the Weatherford Girls Coach Pitch Softball Little League. Defense was the key throughout the season and this team took that to heart and got tougher and tougher to score on as the season progressed. This was one of the best group of kids I ever worked with in my 17 years of doing this. Now it's All Star time, in which they just found out they get to play their All Star tournament in the beautiful new Weatherford College Softball Complex the second week of June. I'm very proud of them. And as I taught them all to yell out together after each practice and after each game, GO MEAN GREEN! Rick

  45. I'm guessing that his article is more about explaining to fans and Alums of LaLa why he was not successful in getting LaLa into CUSA, than sour grapes. I've said this many times before......I would much rather have LaLa in CUSA than UTSA.

  46. Well, with just about as many teams moved as possible, DeLoss has now authorized Chip to wind up the Texas 12 propagandizing machine again. Gee, Chip, where else would the Notre Damers go? Let's see, it's the Big Ten or Texas 12. This was real difficult to figure out. Granted, Notre Dame would have to give up their monopoly of self and step down to join the monopoly of Texas and Big 8 rival-traitors Oklahoma. The Big Ten won't allow that, so... ...wowee, Chip, what a scoop. I think the Hardy Boys were on this one ages ago. If not, Nancy Drew certainly had it. Next, puff of smoke from Chip - BYU: Pac-14...16...18 or Texas 12.
