  1. If it makes you guys feel better, you guys are going to whip us in football in the coming years. You guys are trending up, we are trending down. It is cyclical.
  2. There's nothing embarrassing about losing to a highly ranked Creighton team on the road. It's not as if you guys are ranked #2 in the polls, then maybe I could see it as being a little embarrassing, but come on now.
  3. Can someone give me a run-down of what all has been happening to your football program? It seemed early on in the year that you guys played hellishly amazing against both LSU and Kansas State. I was for sure that the fire I saw in those games would translate to a Sun Belt stomping. So what gives? Injuries? Coaching? Morale? Or were those two games against highly ranked teams more of an aberration than reality?
  4. Yeah Chip Brown is pretty much the worst person to pay attention to when it comes to realignment. Brett McMurphy however, that guy has been dead on more often than not.
  5. Different reports all over this place on this one. Anywhere between $4-13 million per team per year. Honestly, that sounds like a fair range to be in, and regardless of what some would say here, even the lower estimate is a significant upgrade from what we were making in CUSA. We'll see how this goes, this is the first report to really toss out low-ball figures.
  6. La Posta in Old Mesilla is awesome. Also, the Twisted Root near Mockingbird Station is really good, but you have to try some of their game burgers. Their buffalo burger is sooo good.
  7. Well he did poopoo all over Chico's Tacos, that took some restraint.
  8. Norm Hitzges showed some love on the air for Dunbar some days ago
  9. Small world, I was raised in El Paso. And I'm hardly what you'd consider an "SMU douche." Got my bachelors at UTD, working on my PhD at SMU. More like you than you know.
  10. UNTexas, UTEP has plenty of solid programs, just like UNT. Stop acting as if UNT is some paragon in state school academics. As someone who has been on both campuses multiple times, the vibe from the people at each university (and their respective cities, i.e. Denton) is incredibly similar. I understand that UTEP fans are acting like they're the Longhorns of the Big XII in CUSA, but they've got seniority and have gone to bowl games and NCAA tournaments in the last decade. That's usually enough to be prideful in. They also talk the way they do because they know UNT and UTSA pose a threat to them.
  11. Can't argue with that I completely get the animosity from UNT fans. And I also think it's good for us to actually develop a rivalry on the field (hopefully court too). It's ironic, but actually working together is beneficial for both sides. If an SMU/UNT rivalry picks up heat, the area's media will have to start picking it up and start taking attention away from UT, A&M, OU, LSU, and other schools not quite situated in DFW.
  12. It's not just us, the local and national media reported plenty on us looking at Johnny Jones. We could have made a run for him had we gone after him as soon as Doh was gone. There was even a Rivals article on Jones showing interest in our vacancy so it's not the most outlandish thought in the world that he could have ended up at SMU. That's not to say it would have been a guaranteed hire, I never stated that (I know other SMU fans do though, take it up with them, not me).
  13. I see no reason why you guys shouldn't be a middle of the pack or top half team from the get go.
  14. It's a gamble, and everyone knows it. Already rumors are indicating that potential transfers/recruits from Larry Brown have already eclipsed what Doherty has done. And unlike Doherty, Brown can actually coach. This has real potential for us, but also has the potential to blow up in our faces. I think it's worth it for us to take this shot because had we gone for the type of hire that everyone thought we should have gotten (Scott Cross, your Jones, Benford, etc), that is faaaaar from guaranteed as well. Young up-and-comers can look good as assistants or HCs of lesser conferences and not be able to cut it in the next level. It's a risk and a gamble either way, but if we're going to gamble it helps to get this kind of national attention. And not because of our supposed insecurity, but because it's getting coaches and recruits talking, something that hasn't really happened with us since the late 80s.
