  2. More likely, Rubin will be considered a one-and-done journeyman at Michigan and will be a quickly forgotten spare in their dustbin. Have any of our beloved stars been fondly remembered at the schools to which they transferred? But he shouldn't be criticized for leaving if that move wildly financially benefits him. We need to support what's best for our student athletes and their families even if losing them is to our detriment. Hopefully, in time, we may be in position to retain some of our premier talent.
  3. Ha...I was at that game too. A high school friend lived in Reno (actually Sparks) at the time, so we used the excuse of the game to visit. You are right, 72-0 didn't do the ass-whooping justice. We could do no right and Nevada could do no wrong that day.
  4. Just like when Marshall, So Miss and ODU bolted early from C-USA, when schools start the process to leave a conference, it's a fait accompli. It's inevitable with only the timing (and $) to be worked out. This whole musical chairs of conference realignment used to be interesting, now I find it almost laughable.
  5. I love the sentiment, and I'm so glad she stayed, but: https://www.instagram.com/p/CkmRO5SJz9L/?img_index=1 ...It's not true.
  6. "clickbait" was originally the name for the titles to get you to click -- the clicks were the main metric that drove ad rates. Now, views, and listens are the metric, so the clickbait moniker has evolved. But I can be convinced that the name is incorrect and that this is better described as a classic Talk Radio bit. It's also a classic summertime ESPN thing. When I was 17 or so I watched all of VH1s 100 Best ___ during the summer. It's the same stuff. I learned a little bit about some bands and people but also it was largely just a way to get ratings filler for the summertime. I think it is fine as a piece of entertainment but I lean generally toward the view that this kind of stuff is junk food and I need to stay away from it.
  7. Agree 100% Mosley should have just put out a GoFundMe because the effort isn't there.
  8. Today
  9. Gamble would have been a hot commodity on the transfer market throughout her time at UNT but was never tempted to leave. “Coach DeLong and my teammates are what kept me here,” Gamble said. “He had faith in me for a long time. I can do just as much here as I could at a Power Five.” She’s done plenty already. https://dentonrc.com/unt-coach-rodney-delong-believed-in-kailey-gamble-setting-her-on-course-for-legendary-career/article_2f56bfad-0fcb-5174-ae8e-36837f70ea06.html (This is the newsletter from the DRC. It is free for those that sign up.) The quote above is why I love this team. She isn't the only one that could have left. These young ladies have represented our university so well, have fun playing the game and are a joy to watch. Hope they sweep Charlotte and make a run through the AAC Tournament.
  10. In theory, you are probably right. However, the mass email/twitter communication is not going to get it done. If they wanted to do this, they need to spend some money and create a UNT Teacher Day of Giving - Annual Reunion. Bring every single possible teacher that can make it to DATCU, cater to them with food and guests, and convince them that giving back is the only way to propel our university forward and see how many wallets they can open up. Market the event appropriately with a runway of at least 2 or 3 months. But this just arbitrary giving day with lazy and cheap marketing will most often times fall on deaf ears. But, hey, it's the UNT way.
  11. I've always said if UNT Athletics could get an annual $25.00 donation from every living Teacher with a UNT Education Degree (I'm looking at all the teachers out there), Graduate or Postgraduate, Athletics would never have a shortage of money.
  12. Is there a place to sign up for this? I know talks have went soft on alignment, etc. However, there is no greater time for UNT to be positioning themselves while it's not a national media event. UNT must be doing everything in its power to align itself with the best possible peer group it can snab. The ONLY thing about it I would dislike is getting away from the service academies, but they can always be on the non-con here and there. Outside of that, this would be a really good position for UNT to be in.
  13. UNT now has more pledge drives than PBS.
  14. Mark was a tall blonde guy....probably about 6'3"...he played TE. And he'd be in his 60s by now.
  15. Good. Now go find out who you want to be a rival with and go hang out on their board. We don't give a $#!t about smut and your ilk.
  16. Remember how LA Tech gave the finger to UL-La and ULM. Well, look at them now. Bet they would trade places with UL-La in a heartbeat. I see the same future for smuT. Kharma's a bitch.
  17. I'm certainly glad your school whored itself out when no one wanted you in the first place. Just ask Fla. St. Smut was too good to be associated with us. How does feel that no one in the soon to be defunct aac wants you to come along. You'll soon be "begging for the scraps from Longshanks table" like you always have. No one wants smu. Accept it.
  18. I met him on campus. About as inspirational as a:
  19. When you ain't got nothing, you got nothing to lose You're invisible now, you've got no secrets to conceal How does it feel, ah how does it feel?
