WR Fonzale Davis, South Oak Cliff- UNT is losing a lot of firepower on offense, and Davis could help fill the void. Davis put up phenomenal numbers at South Oak Cliff last season, recording 77 receptions for 1,651 yards and 18 touchdowns, and was a big reason why the Golden Bears became the first DISD team to reach the third round since 2008.

I'm going to assume they meant in Class 4A. Coach Samples @ Skyline (DISD) has won at least 2 playoff games for as long as he has been there. He also took 4A Dallas Lincoln to the state championship game in 2004 (Double OT Heartbreaker loss to Kilgore). I believe Dallas Carter was the last 4A team in 2008. Btw, Carter moves down again next year.

Depending on match-ups in next year's playoff, SOC should advance further. They have non-district games next year against 6A Desoto, Cedar Hill and S. Grand Prairie to better prepare them for the playoffs. The district foes will again be very weak.

Be glad your visiting, I live here and it is a pain in the you know what all the time. How long are you in town?

Leaving tomorrow. Very nice town and I would have given my left nut to make 6 figures straight out of high school working the oil fields when I was younger.

Really good times out here. Oil people have told me it will continue for the next 15 years, which means the crash is right around the corner.

Something very American about this town.

Yep...my parents are in the process of putting their home on the market there and should be able to completely cover the cost of the bigger home they are building in Little Elm. They kinda lucked into it, timing-wise.

I've hardly recognized the Midland from my youth over the last 3 years I've visited.

I have to agree. Just one more reason to look forward to next season. Do we think Davis will be a good kick returner for next season?

I think he'd make a solid kick returner. He doesn't have much experience returning kicks, but if you watch his film his team ran a lot of tunnel screen type plays to Davis. He reads his blocks very well, especially in the open field. Couple that with the moves he can make with the ball in his hands and he could really do some damage in the return game.

      It's easier for us to say it's fun since we're not the ones who have to recruit an entire new team every year, but it's honestly exciting to see how the new team is built. The max exodi of beloved players sucks, but in this new age losing guys like TP, Drez, Rubin and Aaron doesn't have to mean a several-year rebuild. Now we can "retool" and even get better. I think this year was more of a gut punch because it felt to me and many others that Rubin and Aaron were Mean Green for life. They've been the constant leaders throughout the past turnover. But even healthy we weren't the most talented team in the conference. And I trust Hodge. The past seven years Grant and Hodge have run a clean program and as much as I love the guys who have played for us, I trust Hodge and Forte will continue recruiting players who will be good representatives of the university, even if only for a year. I also agree we need two more PF's - at least one who can space the floor shooting 3's. Assuming we have at least three scholarships left, so assume we'll see another guard. I'd like to see us bring on one guy who's averaged 18PPG or more. Doesn't matter which position though it'd be a nice changeup for it to be a high scoring big man.

      The last home games of the 2023-24 school year

      Weather has become a factor in a lot of games this season. Wet spring has really made this softball season pleasant. Feel like we had several 90+ degree games last season.
