Baker Mayfield transferring from Tech

Just heard from a friend of mine that the walk on true freshman QB that started the majority of the season is transferring and not playing in the bowl game.

Anyone interested?

This is brand new, so it's not on the wire yet...inside information.

He's beaten SMU once already, when they had a healthy Garrett Gilbert, so yeah. I thought he looked good in that game, so wondering, why leave?

Don't know. Maybe brewer (projected starter at the beginning of the year until a back injury) would take the starting spot back next year, maybe they would rather put the scholarship towards defensive players than him or maybe he's tired of the smell of Lubbock.

Mayfield played his high school ball at Lake Travis in Austin. And that's Nicholas, not Nichols.
