  2. Give you? This player disrespected Longwood and shows no loyalty or commitment. And you're fine with it... . . . . .

  4. Glad to say @CMJ can rest easy. All the people who bugged the sh!t out of him for spelling Rubin's name wrong now have a new name they can get wrong: Massie instead of Massey.

  5. Should be able to contribute day 1. First piece of the new squad, lets hope this gets the ball rolling!

  6. That is correct. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/4897338/johnathan-massie One year left?

  7. Pretty sure that's the same high school as Aaron Scott.

  8. Aren't they all one year only now?

  9. Give me that Jordan Williams frame! Maybe with some extra muscle on top.

  10. You are confused. Naming rights are for large Athletic donations made directly to a school. A school cannot take a donation for NIL purposes nor give athletes money for NIL. These are done now with 3rd party groups. The NCAA wants to add rules to permit schools to take this over sometime in the future....maybe. 11. A 6'6 guard is something NT isnt really accustomed to. We had a bunch of shorties making it rain before this. So this is pretty refreshing. Not hating on the guards of the past, but ya know what I mean lol.

  13. I stand by Metzler's in Denton. Great food, reasonably priced and long time supporters of UNT.

  14. What I don't understand: How do we know our NIL is underfunded compared to our conference mates and other peers when the financials don't have to be publicly reported?

  15. Back-to back National Polo Champs! Beat Smut in Virginia 17-8. The Phonies didn't have the horses to keep up with us...

  16. Massie is roughly the same frame as Cotton and the incoming Mason. I hope this doesn't further stall their development. Time to figure out what we have in our own recruits

  17. Interstellar got paid more NIL so they have to be ranked higher...right?

  18. Aaron Scott had a pretty solid freshman campaign, as did Rubin Jones.

  19. That's my pick as well, and I do love 407 BBQ.

  20. Has anybody tried 407 BBQ? Any good?

  21. Obviously, we fans do not know; how could anyone know? It maybe an excellent assumption just based on NT apparently can't keep anyone, but there is no way to verify this. I can't believe that any of the AAC teams have a substantially edge in NIL funding other than Memphis and SMU. There is something else going on other than the NIL factor. Has anyone else noticed that there are a great number of players entering the Portal, but at this time; very few have been identified as committing or signing with another team. My guess or maybe just my hope is that NT is in much better shape than the fans recognize. Players have committed whether they are transfers, high schoolers, or those that have entered the portal and not found a better home.

  22. According to whom? I’ve worked for in Austin and lived in the greater Austin area for over 15 years and I have never heard of Interstellar BBQ.

  23. No reason? How about losing 90% of our offense to the transfer portal and a defense that still looks extremely weak.

  25. We seem to occupy a very unique and miserable position in the current NIL landscape. 1. Our players are very good. 2. Our collective doesn’t have much $ to pay them. 3. Other schools have collectives that are willing to pay them a lot more. It is really pretty simple. The only way for us to compete right now is to identify and acquire undervalued assets. And then when the marketplace puts greater value on those assets, we have to start over and do it again. Unless any of you guys have a few million $$$ you want to send to Harry via bank draft… I am certainly frustrated and disappointed with the current situation, but I have invested too much and care too deeply to bail on UNT basketball now. It is just going to make it all the sweeter when we finally prevail.

  28. I don’t think any of us care about being respectful to Longwood. Many of us just cheer for players who go to North Texas and when players leave North Texas, we no longer cheer for them.

  29. Interesting, I believe they allow a certain number of visits before the wall goes up. It comes up as a paywall for me on Chrome and Edge. Maybe Vito put the hex on me.

  30. Sorry man, I gotta call BS on that. My niece ran track for Nevada and we attended some football and basketball games. They have very poor support and their student services are worse. There are no business of significance there quite frankly that would have dollars to give. I can promise you schools like Utah State and Nevada and San Jose State do not have strong NIL programs or donations in general.

  31. 407 is my choice, but it is a treat for me. Expensive, thus rare. Metzlers will always be in the top 3. Lots of meat options, great sides and most important, shares my deep love for the Mean Green. GMG

  33. As I recall, UCF was an unknown commodity. Some of us wondered why Sloan would leave NT for UCF (who ?) I recall giving him a can of Virginia Diner peanuts (yum) as an inducement to stay. Didn’t work. Sorry to hear of his passing.

  35. Yes, I think in most cases players are testing the market to see what if anything they can pull in. I do not think UNT is waiting on players to come back and is focusing on immediate impact guys that can help us right away. It is a buyers market!

  37. Who is the last true freshman to make a significant impact on this program?

  38. I think that’s too simple a view. If money is being made, then the players deserve a part in that. I have no issue with that. What I have issue with is that because there is so much money to be made now, too many bad apples have spoiled it due to inaction or inability of the collective to come together to create rules to keep the games fair. Now we have a system where everyone (players, coaches, administrations) is in it for themselves because that has become the game. It’s no longer about staying together and building a team. It’s about making as much money as you possibly can while you can. There is no sport in that.

  39. It’s INSANE!!! So we are encouraged to contribute to a NIL fund to pay players who have absolutely no loyalty to our school and then if we want to watch them play we must buy a ticket, pay for parking etc.? Count me out.

  40. Layne's grandmother is bravely battling cancer and his decision was based on staying closer to her and the rest of the family as they support her during this difficult time. UNT did the right thing for this young man by letting him out of his signed NLI.

  41. Memphis has 4 Pierre Young Cherenfant A. Hardaway 3-4 players seems normal, I don't see a single team up at 7 or more outside of ECU which I mentioned.

  42. I received an email from someone this weekend and they included their preferred pronouns in their signature. Is this common practice now?

  43. Technology? Yes, I would agree. And no, I started the topic asking about pronouns not the email.

  44. Never said I was offended. I asked if it was common. I find it silly. Civilization survived thousands of years until a generation decided this was needed. It wasn’t.
