Layne's grandmother is bravely battling cancer and his decision was based on staying closer to her and the rest of the family as they support her during this difficult time. UNT did the right thing for this young man by letting him out of his signed NLI.

To set the record straight, Abou was dismissed from the team prior to the NIT tournament last season. He did not leave on his own accord.

This will far surpass the deal we had with Apogee both in size and time-frame. It will also have a much larger impact in the local community than we have probably ever had. And there is much more to come, as this is just the stadium, they have some large suitors for the AC naming rights as well as other projects yet to be announced.

Grant took the job because it is easier to get to the NCAA’s. Tech with UNT’s record would have been a lock for the tourney. Also money played a part and facilities. But those were secondary. -
