  1. NCAA rules prohibit boosters from using the promise of NIL deals as an incentive to try to convince a prospect to attend or transfer to a particular school. LOL, you mean what almost all these schools are using it for?

  8. That is a sad statement based on his career so far. By the way, I think Morris would be a better option, if it's just down to those two. I don't know if Pavia is a real option, but he would obviously be far & away the best option of those 3... again, based on his career so far.

  16. We used to get 7-8,000 when Bill Blakeley was the coach. He had some very good teams but he was a show himself. He'd grab his nose indicating the call against him stunk. He'd also grab his tie and pull it indicating that the referee choked when he made that call. However, back then we often had one of the several writers or the Denton Record-Chronicle beat writer at least give some publicity. Everyone took the Dallas Morning News and/or the Denton Record-Chronicle. Now the newspapers have become expensive and circulation has dropped. If we stay competitive in our new conference and we can get the message to the students, Denton County residents and alumni and get them enthused. It may be passe now but we would have pep rallies before home games on Friday before game day in front of the Student Union. Form a spirit group and give them all a T-shirt. On Homecoming have them paint their faces and be the lead cheer group for the cheerleaders. Have that group try to get a friend each into the Greenbackers. You'll need fundraisers for the T-shirts. Give support to the spirit band at the basketball games. Don't just sit around...let them hear you! Just do it.

  23. So, you want to complain about being left out of the CFP??... NCAA penalizes FSU football, assistant gets 3-game ban for violations The NCAA on Thursday announced significant penalties for the Florida State football team -- including two years' probation and disassociating with its NIL collective for one season -- for violating rules on using name, image and likeness offers as a recruiting inducement.... Those penalties mark the first time the NCAA has severed the relationship between a school and its NIL collective as part of an infractions case. It also is the first time that the NCAA has punished a school, coach or collective for using NIL as an inducement. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39289391/ncaa-penalizes-florida-state-football-nil-rule-violations

  25. I am bombarded by pro-FSU messaging by being in Tallahassee so much, but my first reaction to this news was that it's a softer penalty than I would've expected for the infractions they committed. FSU self-reported and didn't get a hanging judge. P.s. Not as soft as Michigan's in-season penalty of Jim Harbaugh sitting out a few games while his replacement cried giant blubbery tears after a game, which was weird since Harbaugh was suspended not dead.

  26. Game entertainment doesn’t attract but it does retain. (Most) people don’t see a halftime show marketing and a decide to attend. But if you attend a game and the product is good and the environment is enjoyable, you tend to remember it and want to come back.

  27. It's not about the money, it's if you are technically following the rules, which we are. Everyone knows a coach can't deliver a player to a booster. That's just sloppy. Plus the player declared for the portal, visited FSU for an offer, then left the portal taking no NIL? That's an obvious setup. Someone wanted to get FSU, set them up, then ratted them out. My guess is retaliation for excessive tampering.

  28. It's this. I'll give you the easiest of easy examples. I searched whether or not the AD even has a TikTok presence. They do. 9 total videos with the last one being from November of 2022. The hottest social media platform in the target demographic (college students) and you can't be bothered to post some highlights or memes or anything to remind the student body that they have a basketball team. For the old heads who don't care about TikTok or social media, I'll point out another problem. This athletic department refuses and has always refused the past 20 years I've been watching the program to market outside of Denton. In really ambitious years, I've seen them outreach a tiny bit into Argyle and Corinth. She doesn't want you. Maybe eventually she will, but not now. This philosophy of "Let's get Denton on board first before expanding out" literally hasn't worked for over a century now. Please try something...anything...else.

  33. Norvell signed an extension today that gives him a pretty nice paycheck now. I also think that after all the hell that he raised with FSU missing the playoffs, jumping ship for Alabama would’ve been a bad look. May have been a pride thing for him. I definitely agree that Alabama is a bigger job than FSU, but outside circumstances made this decision less black and white. And a side note: never buy in on the Notre Dame preseason hype. Trust me
