  1. All those great Mean Green jackets that everyone is wearing: A guy has been wearing one at b-ball games this season. So I asked him....where he got it. Here's the site: https://customiceddesigns.com/products/mean-green-jacket?variant=39509707489353

  2. Grant has 5+ years of Denton bball now.Considering his success and consistency, do we have any players that can claim to be part of the winningest class(es) in history?22-23: 19-5 (will def hit 20-25 wins, and at some point lose at least a 6th game) 21-22: 25-720-21: 18-1019-20: 20-1118-19: 21-1217-18: 20-18

  3. I've sat just about everywhere in Apogee. I've always thought the club seats/suites were a little inert for my taste and sensibility but my wife likes the comfortable things in life. I am thinking of getting a few hub club seats for the couple of times we can make it down to Denton. I ask you, venerable message boarders, what the secondary market is for such seats. I don't need to break even but I also 1) don't want them unused 2) don't want to spend $10K for one game ya know?

  5. Has anyone pointed this out....about the rankings? When we first signed Jayven Anderson....it was noted that he was our top recruit ever (since 247 had been doing rankings). He was listed at the bottom of our signees (as at the very bottom, they rank our top ten recruits ever) as being #1 overall. And as I recall....his 247 score was .88-something. Now you go to 247....and look at the same list....he has suddenly dropped to our 4th best overall. And his 247 ranking is .8726. Not sure what happened....unless it's the typical "discounting" of players....once they sign with UNT. I love this class. What Coach Morris and staff did in such a compact amount of time....is phenomenal. And a final point on recruiting rankings: Bet if we went back and looked....Tulane's classes the last 4-5 years....would be nowhere near the top in AAC. And yet....Tulane put together a team that just finished 9th in the nation.

  6. Does it matter? Most people know him as Mean Joe, not Big Joe. The article doesn't say we got the nickname from him. That's all we should worry about.

  10. UTSA is one of the worst D1 basketball programs I have ever seen. The top D2 teams would beat them and they can't even remain competitive in CUSA. The AAC is going to eat them alive next season.

  12. Hamlet will always have some of the biggest shots in NT history and for that he'll always be a legend. Probably THE legend of the last 50 years. Josh White was the face of the squad that gave us the longest run of success we'd ever had (it started slightly before him and went a year or so past his graduation, but still when you think of JJ squads, you think of White) prior to the McCasland era. I wouldn't rank Perry above either of them, but he has the clutch gene more than anyone I've ever watched at NT (going back to the mid to late 1980s).

  13. EZU as we used to call them. The one big thing they have going for them is fan support. There is literally nothing to do, related to sports, in eastern Carolina and the entire region has embraced the Pirates. The first time I lived in North Carolina was following my graduation from North Texas in 1975. I was posted to an Air Force base in nearby Goldsboro and dated a young lady who was a student at East Carolina. We attended some football games and while their stadium seated 35,000, it was hard to find tickets. This was all the more impressive as ECU was not playing major college football at that time, Now, their stadium seats 50,000 and is often sold-out, especially when they are playing other North Carolina universities.

  23. To win the regular season, we would need to finish ahead of FAU. For that to happen, it would require a collapse by FAU. That would be very uncharacteristic of them, and highly unlikely. I would like more to people to care about UAB. Jelly is playing again, they have the best front court in the league. Big reasons they took care of FAU and are on a 4 game winning streak. Be grateful we are at home on Thursday, and I do not consider this a gimme. Blazers will be coming and flexing their muscle.

  26. It's Mike Craven. Dude is a clown and a UTSA grad. More often than not, he will find some way to write an article bashing us. First, we were wrong to fire Littrell. Then we were screwed in the aftermath of the Littrell stuff. Now, we get a C in recruiting without even looking at the entire context of the situation and lack of ratings for some of our players. Don't bother with that guy. You'll usually find some NT grad fighting with him in the comments because he does it to us consistently.

  28. He was 10 years before my time on campus, but I never knew or saw a reference to him being called "Big Joe" at North Texas. in fact, his real name is Charles, not Joe. His Aunt started calling him Joe, but not Big Joe, as a reference to his size and Joe Louis the famous boxer back then. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Greene

  29. Didn't take any pictures 😐 May have been more NT fans, and less Rice fans, than last year. I guess you could look at the box scores for the official attendence, if you can find the one for last year.

  30. The correct move here for On3 is the one that would benefit Mean Green. That is the mathematically accurate way to go.

  31. On3 is toying with the idea of changing the weighting to 35% On3/247 and 15% rivals/ESPN. This would be a good thing for G5s IMO.

  34. At least in modern times (post 1958) taking 4-year periods, this past 4 years has been the best winning percentage-wise: 2019-23 = 82-33 (.713) 1975-79 = 76-32 (.703) 2018-22 = 84-40 (.677) 2006-10 = 87-43 (.669) https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/north-texas/

  38. August 4, 1944 - March 5, 2022 Grand Prairie, TX ? Hubert Ferrell Dark, Jr. (named for his father, who was named for the doctor who delivered him), was born Friday, August 4, 1944, and passed to his Savior, Jesus, the Christ, the Messiah, on Saturday, March 5, 2022, in Grand Prairie, Texas. He was the third of four children born to Ellener Nettie Carter and Hubert Ferrell Dark in Tyler, Texas. Hubert Jr. graduated from John Tyler High School, Tyler Junior College, and the University of North Texas. He was a he-can-write-the-best-or-can-improve-your-program programmer and computer analyst. This gentle man enjoyed family, music, puns, slap-stick comedy, Mean Green football and travel, especially, family and music (hopefully in that order). An intelligent IT professional, he had a unique, infectious laugh, strong work ethic, and unshakeable faith. He was hired by LTV (Dallas) in 1968 when the company developed their computer department. Hubert enjoyed sharing that during their startup, LTV leased time to the Dallas Cowboys for the running of the Cowboys' playbook. He retired from the (formerly LTV) now Northrop-Grumman Ingalls Shipbuilding facility in Mississippi in 2012. Hubert presented both truth and satire in political postings and expressed concern that many people may not realize that they alone choose where they spend Eternity. He understood that Jesus died for and forgives us and is always bidding us, "Come to Him". Hubert is survived by nieces and nephews, cousins, and his sister Faye. He is predeceased by his parents, his siblings Ruth and Dean, and his beloved daughter Beverly June Dark Anguiano of whom he said, "It was an honor to be her Dad". This kind man was honored during a private family gathering. Place of interment: Kendrick Cemetery, Tyler, Texas. Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 2 to Feb. 5, 2023.
