  1. Yall don't have a bad team. The difference between 5-7 and 7-5 is razor thin. You've got a QB to build around which is one of the greatest predictors of future success. Need to bring in some defensive difference makers that fit the system your running, especially more beef on the DL.
  2. We were like 117 or something. So not dead last, but not far off. From giving up 34.7 PPG to 15.9.
  3. This is the least optimism I have ever seen over here about this game. I guess there's usually still some early season vibes when we play though. I have no idea how this game will go. We look like world beaters some games, and pretty pedestrian others. Yalls QB is nice. I'm curious to see how he handles our DL since we generate a decent amount of pressure. As bad as you are on defense, the drop 8 is actually what Preston struggles with the most and we don't have our typical stud receiver that can take over a game. Jordan Hudson is getting slowly getting there, but hasn't had a huge breakout game yet. Our RBs are pretty good when healthy, but our run blocking can be inconsistent. Some interesting matchups to keep an eye on.
  4. Just my outsider perspective... Yall gotta quit firing DCs after one year. Continuity is extremely important on D, and without it the players think too much and process too slowly. Our defense was hot garbage last year, but with another year and some key transfers its pretty good this year. Its especially difficult to completely change schemes too. Give him another year, and i bet youre better.
  5. Oh no. What we will do without UNT on our schedule while we play an ACC schedule. I’m sure Rice or UTSA would be more than happy to take your spot on our OOC.
  6. I’ll take that as a yes. You’re all incapable of taking off the green glasses. As soon as SMU is mentioned you turn into the exact things you say you hate about SMU fans.
  7. You’re completely exaggerating the number. There will be an exit fee of about $18m, paid out over 10 or so years just like UH. We’ll be giving up the $7m per year we make in the AAC. You can’t count ACC distributions distributions were not getting. That’s roughly $50m spread out over 7 years. That money will be more than made up for with tickets sales for football and basketball, concessions and alcohol, parking, tailgating, etc. In order to cover any increased expenses for P4 sustainability, our mega donors have already committed to covering those costs. On top of all of that, there are already multiple people waiting to write 7 figure donations to the athletic department as soon as it’s official. Nobody at SMU crying. They’re putting their money where their mouth is to move up in the world.
  8. And apparently UNT fans are gonna cry and throw hissy hits. Nobody seems to care about Stanford and Cal taking 30% shares, but heaven forbid SMU takes less.
  9. You have an NIL program too. So is it only unethical when SMU does it?
  10. The hand wringing and pearl clutching in here is hilarious. Calling it corrupt to take a zero share. LOL Nobody ever has any issue with schools taking reduced shares for P4 acceptance, but taking it one step further is somehow corrupt and against some made up moral code. The ship is sinking and there aren't going to be many more life rafts. We used our money to buy one, like anyone with the resources would do. Once were in, they cant kick us out. If that was possible there are a handful of BIG10 and SEC teams booted within days. No matter what happens, we'll be no worse off than if we stayed in the AAC. Ya'll should be happy. You'll probably get some of the money were giving up, and you'll have an easier path to win the AAC.
  11. Remember this thread every time you talk crap about SMUs attendance. No matter what you do, it’s not easy.
  12. You all have no idea how much Cowlishaw has crapped on SMU over the years. We joked that someone must have held him at gun point and made him write this article.
  13. ESPN gets to go from charging out of network carriage fees ($.10 per pay TV) to in-network carriage fees ($.80 per pay TV) in the state of Texas. I.e, ESPN can charge cable companies more for ACCN. And before you say SMU doesn’t bring Dallas/Texas, it’s based on whether or not the conference has a school in that state.
  14. That picture is from the covid year, hence the squares on the grass. At least be smart enough to use a picture from when the stadium wasn’t at reduced capacity. Is that too much to ask?
  15. Sooo back when we were in a power conference and we were paying players we were pretty good? And we will soon be back in a power conference and paying players.
