There are many good thing, but sadly people will look for chances to pay players (Reference Miami). Combine this with the recruiting already going on with the portal and you have opened up a "legal" way to screw things up.

Like others have stated, I just cannot see any Division 1 school immediately investing a scholarship on him at this time. North Texas has invested more time researching him than any other school so UNT would probably be his best and most affordable option as a walk-on. Juco ball could be an option, but, if he does not beat out the incumbent, or if he receives even a minor injury, his ball playing days may be over.

I am more interested in how we lose than how many. Same record with this schedule but with competitive games and beating bad teams would be a stark improvement. I want to see real improvement from the offense (not just stats) and at least ten points per game less on D.

I'm getting to the point of just let colleges hire them like they hire other employees. Stop the "student athlete" charade. Pay them a salary (a hefty one if necessary), insure them....just like the professors and janitors. They can pay their own living expenses...just like professors and janitors. It will still make colleges all their money, fans who went to the schools will still root for and have the connection to the teams. If you want a scholarship, you can have one you just have to make your grades. If you just want to go here to play football on your way to the NFL, that's fine to. But like other university employees....if you don't perform, you're fired. You can then go get a "job" playing at another school. The Head Coach is now your boss. He can manage "payroll" and staffing of players now. Yes, that will speed up the divide between power programs and non power programs but so be it. Shoot us all in the head and get it over with vs stabbing us year after year. Screw it...put us all out of our misery

Again, Phil Steele’s College FB magazine & (maybe) DCTF magazine did their homework but not sure about all the other college FB magazines. The ones I’ve seen couldn’t touch Phil Steele’s who kept a running list of FBS schools portal transfers up until the day his magazine went to print. UNT’s big money guys (2 of their names are on the IPF); that is, those who’ve invested the most in this football program will have much say on Littrell’s future in Denton & that works to his advantage. I think SL needs to win a minimum of 5 games to be secure about his future & with all the new talent if just half of them come thru then I think Littrell will have gotten us thru this patch & be here as long as he wants so—-shouldn’t we just let the 2021 season be fully played out so we can all see what happens together? 🤢 ❇️🦅❇️GMG!

North Texas Athletics and the Mean Green Scholarship Fund have announced the 2021 Kick Off Celebration event for Saturday, August 14. The event, scheduled to take place at the Apogee Stadium HUB Club, marks the beginning of the 2021-22 athletic year and will give fans the opportunity to hear from Mean Green coaches and vice president and director of athletics Wren Baker. The Kick Off Celebration event will begin at 11:00 a.m. allowing fans to get their first look at the Mean Green football team during an open practice period. During the event, attendees will have the option to purchase season and single-game tickets, sign up for the Scrappy Squad kid's club, join the Mean Green Scholarship Fund and more. Season ticket holders will also have the opportunity to pick up their parking passes for the 2021 football season. Complimentary food and soft drinks will be provided by Mean Green Concessions, with beer and wine available for purchase. Fletcher's Corny Dogs will also be marking their return to Apogee Stadium with free corny dogs for the first 500 fans in attendance. The HUB Club portion of the event will conclude at 1:00 p.m. and fans will be invited to tour the Lovelace and McNatt Families Indoor Practice Facility. Call me naive, but how is the NIL a 100% terrible thing like many on this board are making it out to be? While I do agree that there is the likelihood for separating the Power 5 from the Group of 5 and the big guns in the Power 5 from the rest, is this not fair for the athletes? Any other student on a scholarship can monetize themselves for what they are on scholarship for. Music scholarship student can release an album and make money. Art scholarship student can sell paintings and not lose a scholarship. How is this any different? Further, in all honesty, it is not as if UNT was competing against the big guns of college football, nor where they ever going to. I love UNT as much as the next guy, but realistic expecations are important. We can and should be the top of the also rans in the next college football shake up.
