For the first time since the 1977-78 academic year, all NCAA-sanctioned North Texas sports programs have accumulated a winning record within the same academic year, according to Wren Baker in View Full Article5 points

A great accomplishment that shows how Baker is developing an overall sport program. I do wonder why CUSA doesn't have an all sport competition. An all sports competition puts focus on sports other than football and basketball. Buy a trophy and make the computations, basically a no cost function to add a little punch to the end of the sports year.5 points

Bean may have had a helluva spring and his running may be better suited to Reeder's offense but Vito did a poor job in his writeup of the bowl results. He lumped the three backups together when Martin had good passing statistics and Bean and Shanbour fared poorly. Martin was 7 of 12 (.583) for 110 yards (9.2) and a TD. Bean was 0 for 2 and Shanbour 2 of 8 for 24 yards with no scoring. I believe that Martin is the better passer and Bean the better runner. The backup under those conditions would be situational with neither clearly number two. I'm also in the camp of trying Bean at wide receiver. He definitely has the speed and quarterbacks are usually sure-handed.2 points

In the past, it has come from the College of Music budget and is a huge expense for them; somewhere in the neighborhood of $250,0002 points

It's a board thing. Sites like CUSAbbs love making competition out things like that. Especially random, irrelevant stuff that don't matter in the grand scheme but to stroke their own egos2 points

I see it mentioned every year on the CUSA board. I'm just not sure if it's an official award from the conference or just the fans doing their thing.2 points

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2830789-ranking-the-top-10-seniors-heading-into-the-2019-college-football-season#slide0 Mason is #9 on their list of top 10 seniors headed into the 2019 season. There's also some interesting speculation from the snapshot assessment style of the article: "Long-Term Outlook: Since he's listed at 5'11", Fine will be subject to the classic "is he tall enough for the NFL?" conversation. But his efficiency―he completed nearly 64 percent of his passes over the past two seasons―and improved decision-making are definite draws. Fine should be drafted, though likely on Day 2 or later." It should be noted that D'Eriq King is #6.1 point

Sweet...however, based on the orientation of the star, the green of the battle flag is on the wrong side. It should be on the left/bottom of the flag like the red on the Texas flag.1 point

Today`s Fort Worth Star-Telegram says that he is joining the coaching staff at TCU. I wonder why he is not returning to LSU.1 point

75 yards of Martin's passing were on 1 play when we were down 38-7. And that play was made by Jalen Guyton as he ran wide open for a pretty simple pitch and catch. You can click on the highlight here, it's the first scoring play of the third quarter: http://www.espn.com/college-football/playbyplay?gameId=401032054&wsVar=us~ncf~gamepackage,desktop,en I'm not saying Bean should be handed the backup job by any means, but I think comparing stats in a game where everything past the first half was mop up time is a bit unfair.1 point

I'm all for this too. The OU home game last season sold out (even though it got rained out). The uncovered seating doesn't really bother me all that much since most of the season is played prior to the Texas heat, but covered seating would make for a nicer stadium. Also, I do love the home softball games being scheduled on the same day as the spring football game. That didn't work out for this year, but has in year's past. In watching some SEC softball on TV, I noticed most of their schools were doing the same. I've mentioned this on here before, but I'll say it again here. College softball is popular sport to watch on TV too, with the Women's College World Series ratings often surpassing the Men's CWS. The 2017 17-inning championship game between Florida and OU was the highest rated program ESPN had that week:1 point

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/26604970/la-tech-ferguson-helps-victims-draft “Instead of having a draft party and celebrating a lifelong dream, he's out helping other people," Ferguson's agent, Safarrah Lawson, said Thursday. "It speaks to this young man's character." Lawson has been unable to reach Ferguson about Thursday's draft and where he might be selected. He doesn't know when he will be able to reach Ferguson again. But he does know his client is OK and he has power in his home.” Rick1 point

I’m sure one of the other 20 plus professional liars you have to choose from who have made it their life’s work suckling off the tax payer’s dime will fulfill your needs and put that EVIL Trump away for good. Plus if you love golf then there’s at least one of your heroes you have a common interest in....cause he loves golf too. Rick1 point

BTW, for those who actually give two shits and follows softball...., Ok State’s pitcher Samantha Clakley, like a majority of the best college athletes in Oklahoma...is a Texas girl from Carthage High School and originally played for UTA. https://okstate.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6628 North Texas’ Jessica Elder and Stacey Underwood outdueled Clakley to beat UTA in 2016 and 2017 before she transferred to okey dokey where she’s now pitching at an amazing sub 1.76 era clip. She is a hell of a pitcher and will help take the pokes deep into the playoffs. But she’s also an example of the talent we have available to bring here. Though we had two pitchers that bested her she should have never chose UTA over North Texas for any other reason than not wanting to play for our past train wreck of a coach, and I surely don’t blame her for that. I bring her up because I’ve always felt and claimed that due to our unique location, the fact we’re only one of three in the Dfw area and our resources and talent available we should be the next ULL in softball. I know the Lovelace’s know this. I just wish we could commit a little more of our resources to finish out the stadium with more amenities, a green belt in the outfield, covered seating..etc. The IPF across the street will certainly help. But if we could give RD everything possible to keep the Texas talent flowing, considering what he’s already showed us he’ll bring us a championship and regular trips to regionals and possibly beyond.. I’m just hanging around waiting for you to realize that you are now one of those “old white men” you want to disparage on a regular basis. Just ask a current college freshman. 😂😂. All relative my friend...all relative. No more freebies for you...and you need to do penance since you helped cause every problem the world now deals with on a daily basis. Welcome! 😂😂.-1 points

Where has he taken us? Yes, we aren't 2015 Dan McCarney bad anymore, but your comment infers we're on a UCF-type run or something. Statistics are fun to watch. But stats don't create automatic W's, or win bowl games and conference championships.-1 points

He will make it or not make it based on the talent of his arm and the development of his brain making decisions. His athleticism is not going to carry him very far, because he's not really that athletic in comparison to what he will be up against in the NFL or even vs just straight line defenders tracking him down in college. He's not a statue by any means, but is not a burner. I would be surprised to see him run in the 4.6 range. Something around a 4.7/8 if I had to guess. And a probable well below average 3 cone time given his size. I also think his arm strength needs to get better. He sometimes puts his body into down field throws for it to just not be under thrown and in the NFL you don't have the time to body throw deep balls. Scouts will see that on tape. Great arm on short - intermediate throws; which is what the air raid system thrives under and it's a big contributing factor to his success while at UNT. I think he deserves a fair shake though. I think he still has room to bulk up. Notice how Baker Mayfield is a little pudgy around the edges...Mason needs that pudge. 185lb is all good and all considering where he was, but he needs to get up to that 205 range and he has 1 years time to do it for teams to take him serious. Something else that is at least worrisome is the lack of success air raid QBs have had in the NFL not named Patrick Mahomes. Good thing for these kind of QBs though, the NFL has started to take the defense is optional college approach. This might be too much real talk for the green-goggled googly eyes of UNT fans though.-1 points

The best part of stumbling into this thread is watching the handful of olds left doing politics here trip over their dicks to +1 the spam bot that just parrots two of their already parroted responses into one.
