Believe it or not....... losing is not respectable. THAT has been our mind-set for entirely too long. And it's one of many things about our culture that needs to go away.7 points

So today I go eat at a restaurant just in the out skirts of campus and I see 2 things that bother. One guy had an OU hat and shirt and another guy had a Texas Tech shirt. They both had backpacks and textbooks. Why do we have this problem still? I was hearing that campus is getting greener with our student spirit. Why are we still dealing with this... You're a North Texas Mean Green student. Not a band wagon T-shirt fan.....4 points

Nicholls was exactly what we needed at that point in the schedule. Now we go into IU healthy and DW got some good practice. Lots of people don't know the difference between Nicholls and Idaho so a blowout win is always a good thing.4 points

I know there are some decent houses in that neighborhood but aren't most homes average at best? I drove through there before and it looks kind of run down.4 points
-
No problem at all. People shouldn't park there. I'm just tired of the constant complaining from those people. Go to other larger universities that have stadiums in neighborhoods, and see how the people there support the university and make the best of it. In Norman people sell parking spaces at their house and tailgate.4 points

As long as we insist on playing a big program in a money/bodybag game every year, here's what I want our schedule to look like. - Away at top 25 school paying us big $ - Home and home with SMU or a similar school - Home and home with a winnable, lower-tier P5 (i.e. Iowa State, Kansas, Oregon State) - Home game against a team we should thrash. Either bottom of the barrel FBS or an FCS school. UNT90 brought up a really good point. We caught Idaho at a good time last year, with them being independent. Other than that, it's hard to avoid that game being against an FCS school, which isn't a problem.3 points
-
So beating a bad FCS is different than beating a bad FBS school? Not sure how they are really any different. Both just tell us we can beat bad teams. I think that we learn where our program stands by playing a lot of different levels of teams and seeing where we fall. A win is a win and the more of them we get, the better off we are.3 points
-
You could beat Ohio or Nicholls and the average fan would only see 77-3. That is what matters. I didn't have anyone come up to me last week and say wow North Texas really beat up a small time school, no i had people come up and say Wow, North Texas put up 77 and dominated, you guys are really becoming a good program. That is what matters.3 points
-
Most everyone else at least occasionally plays an FCS team, so why not North Texas? Besides, I kind of enjoyed that game.3 points
-
Six wins is six wins. Every home game is a chance to get students to buy in. Would I rather play someone else at Apogee? Sure. An FCS home game is better than any away game.3 points

Everyone wants to release their inner douche. What better way than wearing UT & OU gear on campus...3 points

Seriously. I don't buy the whole "I stumbled upon the show randomly" thing. If you are involved with the show in some way just come out and say it.3 points

Then you should know how easy it should be to balance the cameras. Ashton's using Panasonic HPX170s; white balance card in front of each, hit the appropriate adjust button for that lighting bank, and boom, done. 15 seconds worth of time. Hahaha, nobody involved with the show created this forum just to pump rainbows and sunshine at them, though it is still a fantastic show content wise. Welcome to GMG.com, buddy.3 points

I thought the piece with Michael and Corbin was awesome. Tearjerker, really. Love the smile on the faces of those kids, and the interactions the players and coaches had with both. James Jones is a good dude! And their parents represented well the battle their sons and their families face daily. I invite you to join me in donating $77 (one dollar for each point NT scored vs. Nicholls) to http://coachtocuremd.org/. Heck, I am going to round it to $80 and cover Nicholls points also! Article had some great tidbits I didn't know. NT Has Chance For Best Non-Conference Record In FBS Since 1968 On Saturday The Mean Green trend of forcing turnovers is continuing in 2014. NT has forced 11 turnovers this season, which is the 14th-most in the country. North Texas is a +4 this season and since Dan McCarney took over in 2011 the Mean Green is a +25 in turnover margin. NT is cashing in on those mistakes this season, having scored 55 points off of turnovers. Points off of turnovers have accounted for 37 percent of the Mean Green offense. The 55 points NT has scored this season off of opponent turnovers ranks fifth in the nation. North Texas ranks in the top-20 nationally in rushing defense (11th), total defense (17th), sacks (1st), 3rd down percentage defense (15th), tackles for loss (17th), and interceptions (19th). NT leads C-USA in total defense and sacks. The Mean Green ranks in the top-three in Conference USA in 16 different offensive, defensive and special teams categories. North Texas is one of seven teams left in the nation that are perfect in red-zone scoring in 2014. The Mean Green is 13-for-13 in the red-zone this season, coming away with 11 touchdowns and two field goals.2 points

Prefer to have FBS teams. Why? Because playing FCS devalues the season ticket. I really only want to see FCS if the rest of the home slate is pretty interesting.2 points

Don't mistake my surprise at the recognition for complacency towards losing. I hate losing and don't ever expect to lose, but I think that considering our recent efforts, predicting us to keep it within a touchdown is respectable. Of course I predict us to win by two scores but I don't write columns on the internet.2 points

To summarize/mediate: I think we'd all agree we're glad and fortunate to have this show, even with the couple of nit-picky points made about narration and color correction. It's a freaking awesome look into our team and the guys involved. Glad it's getting so much attention from outside our own community. Pretty sure somebody on here knows people involved in its production and could forward a message, but that was discussed last year so without digging through all the old topics, maybe somebody could drop a comment here or a PM to our new poster to direct him to the right person/people?2 points

I created the account as I stumbled across this show on Fox Sports and was extremely impressed that this University - not to knock it in any way - But that this non-football power was producing a show of this nature. Not Texas, not Texas AM, but UNT. As a creator of television shows for over 25 years, I wanted to find out more about this show and give some support to the Producer and Production team responsible. It just so happens that I saw this comment about color grading and was shocked at how petty it was. I don't think this forum was created with those types of unproductive comments in mind. If the show's producer/production team created this outlet, I would imagine it was to gather productive feedback, not trite comments of this nature. The show is terrific - at least the one that I have seen - and I know what it takes to put together a weekly show of this nature. It's timely, relevant content that I imagine is on a shoestring budget. Employing multiple cameras for production value is a luxury and given the organic nature of the content, I'm very impressed with what they are able to capture and bring to air. Hell, I can't believe what incredible access they get! I am not a UNT alum, nor was I a fan before seeing the show. However, I am not only a fan of the show, but have an incredible amount of respect for coach Mac and his team for granting such priceless access to his players and coaches. I look forward to getting to know the team better as the season goes on and speaking on productive matters with the To that, does the show air at the same time each week? And does it also air on another FOX Channel nationally? Finally, as there are no credits on the show, could the admin send my contact info to the show's producer? I'd love to speak with him/her about the show. Regards2 points

We got to ash and sokol very early in the game. We also got good pressure on ash that did not count as a sack. One he slipped out of, and one he out ran us. The pressure was there and they made adjustments and started moving him. Sokol got pressure early and adjustments had to be made. We did not adjust well, but we got pressure in the first quarter. La tech runs 4 wr, and I havent seen Indiana do a lot of 4 wr in the 2 games I saw. Hopefully that will help. The Indiana qb is not mobile and we can get to him and pressure him. Im just worried about the problems Coleman can bring. Even on 3rd down, if we still have to key on him it will be a problem. 3rd and short, our corners may have to be on an island.2 points

Watching the replay, Nicholls State had to be one of the worst teams we have played in a very long time. Those offensive linemen were some of the slowest slobs I have seen in a college game. Don't be blinded by the sMut and Nicholls stats.2 points

So I guess beating Nicholls 77-3 is just as good as beating Texas 77-3? Of course not. Everyone needs to stop getting their panties in a wad. It's not disrespectful to the team to point out they were facing a bad FCS team. They know it will be a much harder test against IU and if they can be successful against them then they deserve all the accolades we can heap on them. We got 14 of those 19 sacks against Nicholls and SMU, two teams that won't win 2 games between them this year. Against UT and LaTech we gave the QBs all sorts of time, or did I imagine Sokol throwing those 5 TD's against us? This team can prove a lot come this weekend.2 points
-
Because against Texas and against La. Tech, the only 2 competitive teams we have played, we have had trouble getting consistent pressure. I worry about consistent pressure Saturday. There are still a WHOLE lot of unknowns about this team. Very weird considering we are 4 games into the season. We start getting answers at 1:30 Saturday.2 points

We will be showing the game at East Side this Saturday at 1:30. Come join us. There should be a food truck out by halftime. And as always during UNT away games we will offer $3 Armadillo Ale Works beers. We have the greenbelt, Quakertown and possibly the Wundermelon if it last until Saturday. Hope to see all of you out at East Side on Saturday. GO MEAN GREEN!2 points

Reading this thread sends chills up my spine. Whether WWI or WWII, the sacrifices the men and women of our armed forces made, not to mention the home front, it's just mind boggling. I served my country in Viet Nam, and I'm proud of that. But when I think of the World Wars, it's at a different level.2 points

Salient football points. Reality based expectations. Dead on schedule information (remember, I told you 2015 was coming 2 years ago, before there was ever a "contract problem" with Tulsa). A beer if you come by my tailgate. And a club seat level stadium donation. Is that enough?2 points
