  1. Why not flood RV's email box with complaints about the current helmet design? Our helmets are embarrassing.

  3. I totally agree with your premise Kram, I truly do. But let's also examine just how "special" one feels when they pony up (no pun intended) the amount that NT does ask of them. When I pay my $500 donation plus the price of tickets to sit on the 50 yard line I expect that this is gives me some exclusive perk. When I see fans from Houston, Indiana, etc. sitting ON MY ROW when all they did was walk up to the ticket counter on game day...well, where's my perk? I know that I, and quite a few that I've talked to, would rather see those seats empty and the opposing fans sitting in the wingzone or on the 15 yard line. Otherwise, what exactly is it I'm supposed to be selling new MGC members on?

  5. Seems like your putting the chart before the horse. When UNT starts winning consistently like Southern Miss does, they can start charging higher prices. The product has to be worth the higher price.

  6. Actually, I think his game has improved immensely since his freshman year. An impact guy down low (at 6-6) that can dominate much taller bigs; with his athleticism. Reminds me of Quincy Acy of Mesquite Horn/Baylor. Explosive leaper that you have to have on the court. Relentless on the offensive and defensive boards. Great shot blocker! Grabs all lob passes anywhere near the goal for monster dunks. Very broad shoulders on a man's body. Old school game.

  7. Glad to know that somebody else realizes that 10 letters is greater than that Tulsa = 5 letters is greater than Ohio = 4 letters is greater than Toledo = 6 letters etc. 10 letters on a helmet is just too damn many, doesn't matter what our initials are, doesn't matter what our emblem is, nothing. No more damn North Texas on the helmet, put it on the damn jersey and nothing else. Problem solved, NEXT!!!!

  8. Let the kid make a decision. If it takes him a bit more time, and he chooses our University that is great. If he doesn't, it just means it wasn't meant to be. It is a good lesson in patience for all of us. I think we could all benefit from a good lesson in patience. It is a very worthwhile trait to attempt to obtain. GMG

  9. He'd probably say something like "why the hell did ya'll get rid of that winning helmet/uni design from the mid-70's?" And he's have a good point.

  10. I don't see anything wrong with the current uniform design other than perhaps a helmet change. We have a logo, let's use it.

  11. Someone better call Tulsa, and Illinois, and Ohio, and Toledo, and Boise State (wait, don't we use them as a measuring stick?). But, let's ask the question that really matters. What would Hayden Fry say?

  12. 5 letters vs 10 letters. No comparison whatsoever. As much as I hate helmet threads, I hate our helmet even more. It needs to be changed!

  14. Actually I had much rather schedule non-div 1 teams than the bottom of div 1, like some of the SWAC teams. The non div 1 do not count in the rpi, were playing low rated teams even if you win by big margins can cost a lot in the rpis.

  16. My HSO... The frustration isn't with the kid or the delay in making his decision. We all recognize the importance of it from football, academic, and social perspectives. The frustration is with the changes in sports media coverage. Vito's challenged by some to provide constant updates - regardless of how substantial - while others would rather just get the news once it's final. My suggestion: If you only want the news, don't read the blog. If you're looking for "worthless" updates, read the blog.

  20. Watching this guy for the 1st time. He can literally jump out of the gym. Literally Getting by on pure athleticism right now. If he can develop a all around game, could be something special

  21. I like North Texas on our helmet, but I still think 10 letters on one side of a helmet is too much. Worm, a tweaked worm or SOW would still be IMHO a good choice for our inaugural CUSA season. GMG! PS: Wouldn't hurt if the end of our chin straps didn't partially cover one of our present helmets 10 letters, too.

  25. We have a logo and it seems like we've had several branding campaigns the last several years and spent a few million dollars doing it. So I think we should put our logo on our helmets. People won't know North Texas because that is what it says on the helmets. They'll know us because maybe we're winning some football games and/or basketball games.

  31. R.V.'s opinion is not to use initials, such as U.N.T.,U.A,B,U.C.F. ,etc. He feels that most people from other parts of the country might not know what it stands for, as we are still known primarily as a regional university. life is a comprise, and i have seen several attractive blends of S.O.W. and NORTH TEXAS posted. might i suggest that the designers of these logos send them to Rick for his consideration at rick.villarreal@unt.edu. it will do more good than singing to the choir.

  35. HOOPNIKS Alex Robinson, 6′-2″, PG, 2013, DJH5/Kennedale (TX): Matched-up against Emmanuel Mudiay, Robinson more than held his own according to observers. Earlier, he proved to be a lead guard that isn’t physically imposing but can pass and score in a variety of ways. Robinson is a tough and can create and score when needed.

  39. It took me too long to get around to posting this but I want to publicly thank NT03 for being a great guy. To go through the trouble of putting a check in the mail to help out a complete stranger is something I'm not sure many, including myself, would do. The kindness shown by your actions mean so much to myself and everyone who considers Brian a friend. Thank you.

  40. Good homework and info. CUSA will add approximately 2.8 million sets with the changes in membership. I did read somewhere that the Fox contract was $46 million for five years which might account for the difference that you noted. Usually contracts are renegotiated when there are major changes to the structure of the original contract. In this case I believe that the difference in the number and makeup of the conference warrants rethinking. The losses of Orlando and Memphis are more than offset by the additions of Miami, Charlotte, San Antonio and Norfolk. That's a lot of advertising dollars for the networks.

  43. Considering where we've been the last few years, a ranking in the 70s is a proud achievement. I'm more hopeful because of the coaching, fitness and attitude. The talent level will improve but Dodge recruited decently; he just couldn't make it work for him.
