'15 DE/LB Kerry Walker (Killeen Shoemaker)

Recommended Posts

6'2" 220 lb linebacker from Killeen Shoemaker HS. Plays a lot on the line of scrimmage as a standup rusher, 9 tech. Likely a linebacker in college, but could potentially grow into a defensive end. We appear to be his first offer.

No freak out. Just goes with what I am saying. Losing to the likes of Texas St, in this case actually Texas St. Who's to say we land those 2? February is a long ways away. It's concerning to consistently see this happen, but no freak out.

We've offered around 150 kids this recruiting cycle. We can sign 25, tops. We're not actively recruiting all of those kids. We've actually done really well when legitimately going head to head with Texas State. We've also flipped two Texas state commits the last two years. They have not flipped any of our commits. One of their commits who technically holds a UNT offer tried to commit to us but we didn't take his commitment.

Anyways, we were done at DB when Hutchinson committed, and same for when Davion Freeman committed to Wyoming and done at interior o-line when Kaden Jackson committed to Wyoming. If we don't get one of those two DEs, we may not necessarily take another DE this class. We already have two DEs committed, so were likely being very selective with our DE recruiting.

By no means has this staff lit the world on fire, but you have to be a little more informed on the process before freaking out, or even getting concerned, every time a kid we have offered at one point commits elsewhere.

Bragging about competing with Texas State? If NT can't win the vast majority versus close Belt teams than NT is in more trouble than even I think.

No one is bragging about competing with Texas State. Some have expressed concern about players with UNT offers choosing Texas State. The truth is, we have had our way with Texas State. No one is bragging about that, just stating the truth. Them getting a few players with UNT offers is no reason for alarm. Especially considering, more often that not, we were done at that position and not recruiting that player when he committed to Texas State.
