Did McSllen Rowe run up the score? 85-0 decision

Recommended Posts

Thoughts on this? Should they punt on 1st down? Intentionally Fumble? Is it right to allow the 3rd stringers to score? Do they give out participation medals in the RG Valley?

Sounds like the McAllen coach played the game the way it's supposed to be played. He pulled his starters when it began to get out of hand and he called conservative plays. The fault, if there is any, lies with the Brownsville coach not preparing his team to play.

As a Un. Houston coach said in the '70s after defeating Tulsa with over 100 points and getting criticized .... that he had used everyone of about 85 players and the other team did agree to play and not just stand there. He also pointed out that many of his players had not played all year and really wanted to do well and he was not going to tell them to "just fall down".

I see no problem at all with this...had a youth soccer team lose a game 14-0...for you football fans that would be 84-0...kids learned they better come to play and prepare as such....and they actually had a pretty good time trying...if you want to call it that...to keep the other team's goalie from scoring...everyone else on the team already had scored!

Hey, it happens...learn from it and go on.....could help the team more than winning the game would...did for my team...they went on to win some they probably should not have won that season...

Come to play or go home!

uh oh... talking football from my part of the world...

couple of factors that aren't pointed out here...

over the past 10 years Pace has actually been a good team, but Brownsville ISD (a school district that has this going for them : http://www.krgv.com/news/brownsville-isd-audit-reveals-systemic-corruption-/ , and moves personnel around more often then a 3 minute chess match: http://www.rgvsports.com/articles/brownsville-11734-coordinator-coach.html)

barely assigned Pace's football coach in June after crippling the school's talent line 2 years ago by opening up a new high school that took away most of the school's traditional talent...

this is a school that has little to no experience at the varsity level with a VERY new coach... it's just a bad deal for them...

the week after the Rowe game, Harlingen South played them and held a 56-0 halftime lead... they had some mercy on them though, and the game ended with the same score...

it's pretty unfortunate and Brownsville schools aren't getting any better with the people who are leading them
